Since security tokens became a thing the market has been on the downturn so we couldn't really see the full potential of what it could be. I mean if people have spend billions of dollars total for ICO's that had some shady and scam coins in between them I am sure if people started out securities tokens that is registered as a business in some countries (not like bahamas or something, I mean like UK or USA and all that) than I am sure when the bull comes people will flock to them instead of ICO's.

What is the reason for putting all your money into something that has a potential to be a scam when you can put your money into something that is legit a business and registered and liable on all accounts if they try to scam and screw the customers and investors. That's why I see them as the next big thing improving on the existing ICO method.

Hey guys,

Do you think Security Token Offerings could be the next crypto megatrend? Any reasons?

I'm running a Security Token Offerings(STO) News & Research Channel to spread out awesome projects and articles about security tokens.

Thanks.

I'm not very familiar with STOs and I don't know what makes a STO better than an ICO.
I don't think that STOs are going to be the new big trend. It might be a new gimmick for the scammers to steal money from the naive investors.Who knows...

If we consider the fact that ripple is second coin on coinmarketcap and people like it over ethereum and others and since that coin is centralized and out of crypto world, then yeah, security tokens may be next megatrend because they are created for investment (utility tokens too but it's officially) and they have to meet all the regulatory requirements. Btw personally I can't see much different between utility and security tokens, maybe I need to read more about it.

Many ICOs have failed due to the huge volatility involved with the crypto market. It has long been speculated that security tokens offering can be the next wave in the crypto community but the little problem with security token offering is that their return on investments to their investors can take a long time. Most security tokens offerings also don't list on exchange platforms at an early stage until their project is fully developed to give a real value to their tokens. Most cryptopreneurs are actually in a haste to make money out of their investments and so they don't prefer to invest into STOs but rather ICOs. However with the fail of ICOs maybe they can start looking at the way of STOs.

I am not very familiar with STO, what distinguishes it from ICO? in terms of security? Isn't ICO also safe with the existence of a smart contract, indeed recently there has been widespread fraud under the ICO but not a few ICOs have been successful, I think if the ICO or STO has not been monitored by the government, it is not safe because everyone still feels free

many ICOs were intended to avoid securities laws, framing their tokens as "utility tokens" to avoid the ire of the SEC. the SEC chairman later opined that virtually all ICOs he was aware of were securities under US law (including utility tokens). that led to a rebranding of ICOs as STOs (security token offerings).

STOs are affirmatively securities, granting you legal rights to shares in a company's assets or profits. they're basically like a traditional company stock that is tokenized on a decentralized platform like ethereum.

the legal standing of ICOs and their investors was always murky. STO tokens make things clearer legally, but in practice, they're basically the same thing as ICO tokens. their value depends on the efforts of a third party (the STO issuer).

For you guys who still don't know about different between STO and ICO, here is an article for you https://101blockchains.com/sto-vs-ico-the-difference/
Actually you can find it on google if you want to take your time just for a few minutes.

There are already explanation about the differences and the benefits of STO there.
The key things are STO will eliminate the scammers, eliminate people who just want to get quick money and not serious about their project, and also you wont find any trash token with bullshit demand potential in STO.

Do people like to actually use XRP in preference really over ETH or anything.     For a reference to popularity try https://coinmarketbook.cc/ which looks at not just size but tradable liquidity I believe and it might give a better outlay of what is a correct order for various crypto going forward.

XRP is 4th not 2nd on that.    The size of XRP is inflated and with a strangely ordered monetary base to it, like you say most of it is controlled by puppet strings (not a free market) and possibly is far smaller then it appears

If they talk really good about it and make a good point of making such a coin then maybe a lot of investors will look into it and try to invest in it.
