Hi folks.
I new to crypto but like to make it to a new hobby but get a bad start with Bitmain.
I paid the original Bitmain shop for a DR3 and did all by the book. Transfer d. 24 Sep. and in bank d. 26 Sep. But the bank/Bitmain now return the money and I lost 150 USD. No explanation or any reply to why? So no confidences in Bitmain and now look for others entry level miners.

Antminer DR3 and Z9 Mini look good on the paper but a Bitmain.
I like the idea behind DCR  "democracy"  but any other suggestions to a miner and not lose money to get a start. ?

I look now on Bittech One mini. 10nm.  Not lose so much i guess.  Smiley

Or, Is it already over with small scale crypto mining when Bitmain comes with the new 7nm. ?

Thanks in advance to any suggestion,  Gorm,  Thailand.

BM is no longer the 'leader' for miners. Canaan's Avalon 841 (16nm and very reliable) can be had for very good prices right now (under $450 USD) or get their latest A921 which is already using '7nm' chips.

Canaan AvalonMiner 8 or 9 series would definitely be a safe bet.

They currently have the A921 model for sale and I guess they will soon have the A941 model available,
which presumably will be a little better in the power efficiency.

I know you said a hobby, but how enjoyable your hobby is might depend on being able to pull even a small profit out.

That's where it depends on your cost of electricity mostly, and your space secondly - I say this because I'm guessing that you already know these machines are loud and hot.

You can start here for for a quick checklist to get started.

If you have cheap power, go for the 841 because as it's no longer the nexgen miner it can be bought for a good price right now. If power isn't cheap and ROI/Profit is on your mind I'd say get everything in place and see what the 941 looks like. I think it will outperform the 921, in a similar fashion that the 8 series went.

I haven't toyed around with most of the other miners out there, but you should check out HagssFIN, signature for links to his reviews. Pretty sure he has most of the current miners in there.

Thanks for the warning. I near order made an order.

I try to get a A921 but minimum sales in asia are 20 pcs.

Power in Phuket are 0.14 usd /kw and I have lot of time and space. Only the humidity/temperature can be a problem to consider.

Maybe better I wait for the A941 and see. Only problem the company in asia only want to sell to farming and not only one pcs.

Whatsminer M10 looks good but out of stock right now. Next batch are December and then I believe all have 7nm chip so M10 maybe already old Sad.

Thanks for all advice.

You can buy less than bulk quantity by buying from a official Canaan distributor.

Ok, that sucks.

Have you checked other distributors, like Cryptouniverse and Blokforge?

Blokforge will have non tariff offer for export. They claims soon will be available. Maybe?
If not I like to get a Whatsminer M10 but they are sold out and next batch are next year.
So now I not sure what to get. Huh I would like to have a christmas present. Grin

921 is great choice, I think I posted tired eyed math in another thread as I keep thinking the 921 is 18th but it's 20th at 1800w. Otherwise spend the money for a M10 or T2T32T. If you're really new just get a few 2pac from sidehack and see how that goes.
