sup y'all

I have a small office and need to heat it in the winter, I have quite a few S9 units at another location and their very noisy! I have heard R4 units are the best for what I need, can I have some thoughts/ideas from you guys?
I will only be able to use one unit here, how loud is the L3 scrypt miners? the ones that draw 400w? can they be modded with better fans? I am looking for best heat to watt ratio, with operation sound low as it will be close to my head lol.

you can get the antminer L3+ set to 22% fan and with low watt software it will burn 720 watts.

it is not really quiet but okay.

you can get an avalon 841  down clock it a lot  and do 10000 th at 900 watts it is fairly quiet

look at this thread.

I run two R4's in my small office, they're fantastic. Your only problem will be sourcing one, they're pretty hard to come by these days. There are a couple on eBay that are accepting offers, if they're willing to accept something like ~$300, with free electric your breakeven will be around April.

I run 2 S7s and 1 S7-LN at my cabin to keep it from freezing and reduce the amount of natural gas I have to buy.  I have them tuned lower and the S7-LN is really quiet.

Wow, nice!

This would be great news for home miners, especially those who can use the heat for warming up the house.  Smiley

Before the R4's I had an S7-LN in there! I have it heating up one of our conference rooms now, chugging along quietly without a problem for over 2 years now. I actually used it to heat the top floor of my townhouse a couple winters ago when I lived in SLC.

Got a hacked S7LN keeping the shop bathroom warm, just turned it on today as we enter a cold snap. Got an undervolted S7 for heat in my apartment that's also pretty quiet. There's another one running around the shop somewhere too.

I wish the S9 were more hackable. It'd be nice to run one cooler and quieter. I know the chips will operate up to at least 400MHz down around 420mV, which probably isn't much of an improvement over stock settings (about 7% lower voltage, so maybe 10-12% efficiency boost machine-level) but that would turn it into an 8.5TH 700W miner, which surely can run quieter than stock.
If they were more hackable.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

It would be nice to actually see some of these concept ideas (TV) produced and sold. Even if it is just a small batch run of product.

Yes the TV is more novelty than anything, I think someone shot the specs down as being unprofitable. This however is cool it's essentially what I'm doing to be doing with my 741's in my basement next week. This I could keep that in a living room or a bedroom. I know the hashrate isn't there, but a normal space heater is terribly inefficient anyways, and doesn't bring in anything except a bill.

yeah that would be cool, I have one old s9 that you can change the settings on, still pretty noisy, might try that with better fans, keep an eye on the temps tho.
still tempted by r4, seen a few you tube vids of some running, psu louder than unit lol. they are cheep now.

thanks for all your input.
