https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=unluckyhero&a=1

Now shows only those members that have enough merit to rank up, based on how unlucky they are in the activity field.  a=1 only shows active members - remove it for all.

(There are a lot of inactive members)
I was curious to check how many members are waiting to be Legendary. There are 157 hero members with at least 1000 merits. ATM, the highest activity is 1022 by LordPiccolo, and likely to be Legendary in the next activity period if he maintains the activity update requirement.
On the other hand, the minimum activity with 1000 merits is 552 by Rollin.io. I thought s/he achieved those merits. I was curious to see his/her posts. However, in bpip, it shows s/he has not got a single merit.

So, why has he been airdropped 1000 merits? In the same category, there are more 5 persons who have got 1000 airdropped merit with less than 775 activities (Minimum for being Legendary). 4 persons have more than 700 activities which can also be logical.
Can someone explain me, please? I am little curious actually.

Link to the list- https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=unluckyhero

Thank you Vod for providing us with such interesting information.

I believe the merit score of any user can only be dated back to the last 120 days and after that it can no longer be traced.
So possibly they gained merits after the airdrop which took place early this year

.

BPIP allows us to track a full merit history.

I wasn't aware of that. Duely noted now.

It's quite simple, some hero member got extra merit when the system was introduced, you can see in here theymos mentioning it:

While specific formula is not given, theymos wrote that the initial sMerit is not solely determined by rank, but determined by rank and activity points obtained in the last year.

The exact formula was:

Code:
yearActivity = activity in the last ~year, max 378
freeMerit = the merit (not sMerit) you started with
modifier =
  0.1 if member
  0.2 if full member
  0.25 if sr member
  0.35 if hero
  0.4 if legendary

return (yearActivity/378) * modifier * freeMerit

So the most you could get is if you were a Legendary who maxed out your activity points in the last year, in which case you would get 1 * 0.4 * 1000 = 400 sMerit.

Note that I later made an adjustment giving 500 extra merit to some hero members, but no extra sMerit was given here.

I'll probably publish a dump of the initial sMerit at some point.

It might be possible that Rollin.io was a Legendary member but due to a huge number of deleted posts his activity went down as well. If I deleted more than half of my posts, I would get demoted to a Full Member but my merit would remain the same. A few months ago, moderators deleted many useless threads. He might have posted in a lot of them.

In bpip, you can check the history of merits of a person, not only for 120 days.

BPIP also provides modlogs for each user. No post was deleted for that user.

It's because they had reached already the minimum activity required to become Legendary, which is between 775-1030 activity, i should have specified this before.

Anyway activity can be reduced by deleting posts i think this may be the case.

That's what I said. There were not huge deleted posts for 6 users who got 1000 merits while their activity is not between 775-1030. I think you missed my point. This user got 1000 merits while he has only 552 activities. 4 users got less than 775 activities but more than 700 and another got for 600+ activities.

From BPIP, no modlog is there for Rollin.io, for the rest, the maximum deleted posts are 2 only.

It might be possible that Rollin.io was a Legendary member but due to a huge number of deleted posts his activity went down as well.
I've lost contact with Rollin.io the moment they closed the site. I didn't know about the deleted posts, and it raises some questions.
First: why is the account no longer Legendary? It was Legendary on November 26, 2017, with 550 posts (which means the posts were deleted before that). As far as I know, the Legendary status doesn't get deranked when posts are deleted.
That raises the question: when did they derank to Hero?
I'm also surprised the last 2 posts were on a former competitor.

For reference: on December 5, 2015, they had 660 posts.

It's because they had reached already the minimum activity required to become Legendary, which is between 775-1030 activity, i should have specified this before.
I think they were Legendary with 550 Activity when Merit was introduced, received 1000 Merit, and deranked to Hero after that. I'm curious why.

I don't think Vod keeps track of the deleted messages, which are deleted by the user itself. As far as i understand those indicated in there are messages deleted by a moderator.

If so there is no way to know what was the activity when the merit system was introduced, but is safe to assume was between 775-1030, there should not be any big mistery here. Smiley

He can't really keep track of this. He knows when a post is deleted by the mod because he's always monitoring the mod log. But when a user deletes his post, nothing shows up anywhere.

...
Maybe these members got 1000 airdropped merits because of what some people call "potential activity"? IIRC, potential activity is the ungained activity due to lack of enough posts to reach that activity. Sometimes the activity system confuses me, but I am too busy procrastinating ,so never bother to figure out why.

theymos could just throw all the curiousness to drain, but until then, bring on all the weird-ass theories and conspiracies.

One a bit off-topic question which should be directed to theymos >
If you de-rank from a Legendary to Hero (of course, if this is possible) in order to rank back up do you need to reach the same activity as the first time or it's again a random number between 775-1030?

<...> If you de-rank from a Legendary to Hero (of course, if this is possible) in order to rank back up do you need to reach the same activity as the first time or it's again a random number between 775-1030?
I’ve seen a few de-ranked cases from Legendary a lower rank by deleting posts:

Wolf0 was a Legendary on the 07/09/2018 (posts 6034; activity 1078; merit 1002) and is now a Member (posts 81;  activity 81; Merit 1002).

jpoker272727 was a Legendary on the 31/08/2018 (posts 1021; activity 1021; merit 1000), a week later he was a Hero just by deleting 4 net posts (posts 1017; activity 1017; Merit 1000). By the 05/10/2018 he got back to Legendary (posts 1021; activity 1020; Merit 1000).

cpfreeplz was a Legendary on the 31/08/2018 (posts 2282; activity 924; merit 1033), a week later he was a Hero just by deleting 2 net posts (posts 2280; activity 910; Merit 1033). By the 28/09/2018 he got back to Legendary (posts 2279; activity 924; Merit 1033).

So even deleting a few posts when the activity is way above the minimum threshold is no guarantee of not being de-raked from Legendary to Hero. It seems as if an activity decrease causes a re-evaluation process, at least if you are in the random activity range (775-1030).

I think someone bought this account recently and deletes all his posts because when I searched his post post history all of the topics created by that user deleted the first posts and edit it into NAH but we can see all those quoted replies of other users.SO this account need to be tagged until that person sign in a message.

Yeah, I figure it must have been a bought account in the case of @Wolf0. The other two cases puzzle me. Is there an activity area for Legendries where a deleted post can mean getting de-ranked, but one is perhaps in the clear above that threshold? If so, could a non-self deleted post activate the same effect (i.e. trashed thread by mod). It seems a bit frail is so.

  0.4 if legendary

return (yearActivity/378) * modifier * freeMerit

That seems wrong. I got 192 sMerit and I don't think I missed an activity period over the last year which is a bit confusing.
Is there an extra figure that got left out there?
I believe the merit score of any user can only be dated back to the last 120 days and after that it can no longer be traced.
In bpip, you can check the history of merits of a person, not only for 120 days.

It's quite simple, some hero member got extra merit when the system was introduced, you can see in here theymos mentioning it:

Note that I later made an adjustment giving 500 extra merit to some hero members, but no extra sMerit was given here.
But why with only 552 activities? Any specific reason?

It might be possible that Rollin.io was a Legendary member but due to a huge number of deleted posts his activity went down as well.
BPIP also provides modlogs for each user. No post was deleted for that user.

This post explains why everyone got a different amount of sMerit. It's not the same.
He indicated this one.

Jet Cash also didn't get the 500 merit and I think he was a bit above a hero when the merit system came out (not entirely sure though).

Jet Cash has reached the 1000 merits on his own, the original merit count was 500 for him. He has collected the merits fairly quickly to become a Legendary as far as I remember

I know but I thought he was at the requirement to get the extra 500 merit was the thing I was questioning?

If I understood it right, 500 extra merit was given to some hero members to get them up to legendary if they had a certain activity high enough for it.
