There are little to no difference between the two. Both are used for promotional purposes and to attract more investors by free distribution of coins. Different ICOs tries to use use them in different context.

There actually is no difference between them. They are both the acts of giving away some coins. But before participating you should find out if they are legal or not.

I can't see the difference between the two they are both similar in actions. Airdrops has made its actions through labor which you it a make step to follow on participating because they most likely advertising and promotions while giveaways is just an action giving it rightaway with no regrets.
