This is very likely preparation for ICO bump service, I've seen it many times.
They usually spam forum and after some time they start bumping announcement threads. They can't really go directly with brand new accounts into ICO threads because it will be too obvious.
Just give them some time, they will start building little quote pyramids in no time - and then report them and team which hired them.

Yeah. Although technically they are breaking the rules by multiposting and spamming in every thread they post in, there's nothing they've done yet that would get them banned.
Certainly need to keep an eye on them as they are likely being farmed up to either bump threads, abuse bounties or be sold.

Sorry for the double post, but I want this bumped to try to get an answer on this. This account farm is now at well over 100 accounts, and is adding 20 more account every day. At least 5 of the accounts 1 have earned a lucky merit within 2-3 days, so I'm sure within a couple of weeks there will plenty of these accounts with the 1 merit required to display a signature. I refuse to believe that there is nothing we can do about this, and we just have to sit and twiddle our thumbs while watching these 100+ (and growing) accounts spam and then start abusing bounties, bumping threads, or being sold. Why, when we have such clear evidence of abuse, do we have to be reactive rather than proactive in tackling it?

DT can't tag them - because this is moderation problem. Moderator can nuke them - but then we will see hundred new accounts. I don't see any other solution than newbie jail. That will solve many problems and make this forum better place. |
