Registration for beginners

Dear participants of the forum, can give the newcomers a registration sheet, like on the exam, with questions, answered correctly, registered, I know by example, I registered and went to my topic, but I did not read the rules and rushed until I was warned, because the name “Forum "- for many, not a set of rules, but interest and communication, especially now young people have become more active, (social network) then at least there will be less spam and the moderators will feel easier. What do you say?

That wont do much. So yea it might require you decent knowledge to pass the "exam", but then what? A few days later then the answers would be leaked, rendering the "exam" useless. If they don't read the rules, then too bad for them. They will be banned in no time.

What's so hard about just reading the goddamn rules once or twice?

A special exam won't do anything except making the forum look extremely childish to anyone that comes here out of sheer interest in bitcoin, instead of making money from bounties.

How does an exam = less spam. I'm sorry but i am simply missing the connection here...? Do you have anything at all to back up this hypothesis?

Spammers will simply find a way around it, while "real" users might be turned off by those childish tests/w/e you want to call them.

Even the exam had so many questions per person that would like to register then there would be some people gather that questions and as what mjglqw that the answers will surely leaked outside the forum and the exam is for nothing. The proxy ban is fine and reading the rules won't take that much time.

I can bet that much more than half of users didn't ever read the fundamental rules of BTT - you can see it in Meta board - there are hundreds of threads asking how to get merit, how to rank up, why i was banned, what is plagiarism, wy i can't put a image etc. That's why I think the idea of OP is not bad in general...

I'm not sure... I was thinking about something very similar earlier, but not as condition of registration rather as condition of promotion to Newbie rank (or get first Merit but this case Jr. Member requirement should be risen to 2 Merits).

I though about it as kind of walkthrough activity, were the question shows in random order.  I'm not sure if it could be done in this forum software - maybe randomly generated questionnaire or maybe it would require external software....
But what's important - we don't have to worry that answers would leak - the purpose is not make users to learn them by hart or to write them in their own words - the purpose is only to make users to read the rules (random order of questions would enforce it). I'm sure that enforcing people to read the rules would rise their awareness and also would help them to avoid of being banned.

Another advantage (if this walkthrough activity would need at least 15-20 minutes to be passed) of this solution would be making life of bootfarmers (multi signature spammers) little bit harder as well...

@Theymos is preparing a welcome message that will be shown when confirming the registration process (see Writing a welcome message), that would include all the basic relevant information regarding the forum, with the idea to make it available in a help center. Nevertheless, as simple as it may seem conceptually, actually getting the right content takes time. Once that is up, one cannot neglect that he didn’t know anything about the rules and forum principles.
Even so, in practice, it will be likely ignored by most, but at least it should eventually be there as part of the registration procedure.

There is also the idea of creating videos on a Youtube channel (see Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel?), where the rules and procedures would likely be explained, although this project is problably a mid-term project due to it being complex to carry out.

Did you pass the tests? The same thing here: I didn’t read it — I didn’t pass it, if the Forum needs it, it will read the rules — it all comes down to READ THE RULE!

Spam won't be gone here until there is still a lot of campaigns on going and a simple exam won't change anything at all. We are not like other forums which users are really interested in the topic and is contributing their own opinion on it, BCT is a forum where most of the people just post in order to complete their post requirement in their campaign which makes most of their post with no sense as they really don't care about the topic that much. The more plausible alternative is of course having much stricter campaign managers handling the campaign which they only accept people who are posting quality post, it will make signature spammers change their ways of posting in order to be accepted once more.
