These type of post have been coming out for months and months, I think that if the SEC was really serious about it than they would have already approved something instead of just postponing over and over again.

I really dont think crypto needs an ETF yet, there is Bakkt, and numerous custody solutions to where if big institutions wanted in they could get in.

Remember we hit 800billion market cap just off retail speculation alone, we could easily get to a couple trillion with more retail speculator and just a handful of institutions in.

It will come and so sure... it is imminent.  However, it doesn't have to come in 2018 to be "imminent".  ETF will just be one more step in the direction of legitimacy and adoption of cryptocurrencies.  It will be like when RVN recently went onto Binance.  I would argue that ETF will not make the price surge dramatically or create some sort of bull market.  Maybe a modest price increase of 10-20% in my opinion and not financial advice.

To be honest bitcoin etf approval does not seem to be a simple thing because of the clash between traditional financial system and crypto, etf approval will mean that btc has been accepted as legal financial asset, no doubt it will be huge news for btc and crypro community but i think it will take time, maybe in 2019 or beyond.

You have to ask yourself what changed since the last time that they rejected it. I have not seen any changes and see no reason that the SEC will have changed its attitude. Instant approval would certainly be better as the US has clearly fallen behind on the topic of blockchain. This is not really about protecting investors I think but more of a political thing as the USD is still the lead currency for the time being and digital many clearly threatens the status quo. It will come no doubt about it but there is some mighty parties of interest who do not want to happen things too quickly. It is as simply as that. The SEC guys are not stupid. They know that digital money is the future and the potential for other blockchain use cases is totally obvious.

If the SEC is serious about ETFs, they will find ways to speed things up, but it seems like things are getting harder and harder for the SEC to accept. I think we need to wait for the market to enter the uptrend phase, SEC will look better and be acceptable if the market is in the best stage.

I think this is just rumors. The SEC has decided not to enter the Crypto market in July. That will not happen again. We should not expect too much ETF funds. Look forward to the future and make great plans to make money.

As far as I know, in September 2018 the SEC published the reasons why they rejected the application for the VanEck SolidX ETF.
