Is it possible for the webmasters to use ANYTHING other that google captcha ?

It's annoying that I have to train their machines, and it's time consuming to watch 20 blurry pictures of stairs and buses.

There are a few other "captcha" options out there. I think it just comes down to what the devs for a particular website wants to use. I think that Google most likely pushes itself onto/into situations (like it always does).

For example it’s free.

Most of the others are open source which is just funny.
If it’s open source it’s much easier to get past.

You can use services like 2Captcha. It costs money though; as of now it's $2.99 per 1000 captchas. Not sure about prices on other sites though.

Also, if you want to bypass captchas on bitcointalk, take a look at this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5042674

Yes, making the service free typically attracts a lot of Devs who want to keep things simple, and cheap.

You are right mjglqw.

Now each account has its own link to bypass captchas, to get your code you only have to log in with your account and then go to:

https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php

If you think your link has been compromised you could reset that code on the same link, and this is just to avoid a brute force attack on your account.

It was many suggestions in past to remove Google ReCaptcha. But can you offer alternative which would be better or similar in terms in security? Even ReVaptcha can be bypassed, I don't even talk about other services like Solvemedia and others.
If you struggling to solve captcha, just use that link which was posted above to bypass ReCaptcha when you login.
And few tips which can help to solve Recaptcha easier:
Log out from your Google account,
Clean Google cookies in your browser,
Use incognito mode,
Get new IP.

Recaptcha is from google and google want to track you. To get the fastest captcha solves:
Login to a google account used for daily use
Keep google cookies and history (but it won’t do much they’ll just track you using your MAC address and IP if you delete that stuff).

Google likes to know what you're doing, so if you are logged in and they can track you they will give you fewer or even no captcha if you use a single PC, the same browser and a unique IP address ( OP should check his/her ISP if they give him/her NAT or A level IP addresses)
Another thing is if you don't want to log in into your google account, and if you use private browser tab, google would make it harder to bypass that captcha part of the login process...

Well, I'm talking from my own experience and posting suggestions which helped for me and other users.
In past I used faucets a lot and I had to solve hundreds of ReCaptchas each day. And since then I have problems with ReCaptcha. Even if I solve captcha correctly, I still get message that I did it wrong. I tried to clean cookies, but this solution is temporarry - you have to clean cookies every few days or weeks. Then I tried just log out from my Google account and guess what - I don't have any problems with ReCaptcha anymore. Sometimes I don't even have to solve it.
I think that regular users who using ReCaptcha just to login to some websites shouldn't faces any issues, unless there is something wrong with their IP address. For example they using public WiFi or proxy address with bad history.

I'm going to reveal myself to be a complete tool by admitting this (many of you are of that opinion anyway, I'm sure), but I still claim from the moonbit/doge/litecoin/BCH faucets pretty regularly, and they offer the option of SolveMedia instead of Recaptcha, which I find much easier.  I'd rather repetitively type "fork and knife" or "chocolate babka" than click on images of store fronts or whatever, which most of the time you can barely make out.

As far as the captcha on bitcointalk goes, I'm always logged in so I haven't had to solve that captcha in quite some time.  I would imagine people with many alt accounts would find this frustrating, but the best solution is to not log out if you can avoid doing so.  I understand the need for it on this forum, but I also think it's annoying sometimes--I've had times when I'd click on all the right images and the login would still fail, and other times when the images wouldn't load or would load so slowly that I just gave up.

Alas, it's a pain in the ass that we all have to deal with until something better comes along.  Blame it on the spammers and bots.

I thought moon btc shut down in 2016-17? So many faucet earnings I’ve missed out on Grin.
I like bitcoin aliens and still play some of their games a bit too (that’s a far digression).

Nonetheless I had it on a private ip where it’s yaken really long to load or you have to solve multiple correct captchas. It makes me wonder if a bot can solve them better than humans can sometimes if it’s going to be wrong when you submit it, just get a bot to do it and save that effort Smiley.

I mean theymos won't be removing the google captcha as it prevents spam. The alternatives mentioned like 2captcha are great but a simpler solution is to use something like SessionBox on chrome. You can literally store 100 of sessions with different accounts logged in. Also, I believe you can encrypt the sessions so you can only access them via a password.

Sooo, was it REALLY worth it [back when faucet sites were "profitable"] to pay for the services of captcha-completers?

IIRC, with 2Captcha, you could do captchas for them and get credits to use later for your own captchas. This way you could, for example, do 24 captchas in a row (which it doesn't take that long) and use the credits to make a bot that claims an hourly captcha faucet for a day. Instead of visiting the faucet every hour, you did some little work at the beginning of the day/week/month, and he would be 24 hours claiming faucets for you.

Other than that, I doubt it was ever worth to buy "captchas-completers" to claim faucets (maybe if you consider holding all the coins while the price is low and selling when it rises).

Yeah, more or less I was thinking the same. Unless you got into BTC or another coin early enough and managed to find a nice faucet ..I couldn't imagine it ever really being worth while to go through the motions of the process at all.

Even more so now with the price so high and faucet rewards so low, lol.
