I just don't understand the strange misconception people have, that the only way to take part in signature campaigns is to copy/steal something and present it as yours.

It is absolutely against the rules to create a new account once you've been permabanned, and if mods (or anyone else) disagree with that they should convince Theymos to change the rule.

Most of us have our eyes open and know what the rules are and what the consequences are for breaking them.  Even if someone gave you the advice to use another account after you'd been permabanned, it's still not allowed to do so.

I don't know exactly who told him this, but hilariousandco has a tendency to say things exactly like that in some ban appeal threads--which I disagree strenuously with and wish he would stop doing.  And I've seen other assorted noobs offering the same advice in other ban appeal threads, too.

Probably the same person who tells everybody else things: their "friend". But it's true. Just create another account because that's what everyone else does and nobody is going to check or find out unless they stupidly link them publicly. This shouldn't be how it is but it is. I wish certain rules were either enforced or just got rid of if they're not going to be because it just creates a huge double standard and undermines the point of them in the first place as they're pointless when they're not enforced so until that changes it's pointless telling people otherwise. The forum is already mostly a free for all and the few rules we have here are rarely adhered to or enforced, but do you really think 99% of the people who lose their accounts here due to bans just accept the fact and sulk back into the ether never to return like a shunned outcast? Most will just create a new account and try again. It's a joke when users or staff find dozens of alt accounts copy and pasting and they're banned but are free to continue on whatever ones we might've missed and some will be doing so on dozens or even hundreds more and admins never look into them. I wouldn't ever tell someone who had seriously done something wrong here to just create another account (spreading malware purposely or whatever), but copy and pasting shouldn't be a death sentence for life and losing that account is probably already a big enough punishment for them and at least they might actually change their ways and improve their behaviour on the new one. As long as they don't do the same thing again I don't really see an issue with it and people do deserve second chances (especially for something like this, but if they do the same then I'd have no sympathy for them). People should also be made aware of the rules when they sign up as well and that's another thing that annoys me (and not that that justifies copy and pasting and there's no excuses for plagiarising someone else's post here but when people get banned for copy and pasting a definition or some quote from some other source it can seem a little harsh). If they're explicitly told not to do this when they sign up then this behaviour would significantly drop in the first place, but if they ignore that and still do it then fair enough as they've got no excuses then.

Maybe we should change the rules here and I've suggested we do so amongst various other things, but we all know how often theymos listens to suggestions. I would much prefer signature bans for things like copy and pasting rather than banning a person from the forum forever, especially if it's just one or two copy and pastes or something, and especially when you can just sign right back up with no problems.

Some rules should definitely be changed, but until they are I don't think staff members ought to be encouraging people to break them--even if they think the rules are futile or unfair or unenforceable.  The rules are still the rules, and when I tag an account that's an alt of one that got banned for plagiarism, I don't want to hear them tell me a staff member said it was OK to have other accounts.  Until the rules change, it's not OK. 

Please, I respectfully beseech you to stop recommending plagiarists create alt accounts.  Even if you know it happens, you are a staff member here and people (especially low-ranked accounts) look to you as a role model and listen to what you say.  Theymos should come up with more rules, different ones, or better ways to enforce the existing ones, but we're stuck with what we've got.  Trusted staff members, DT members, and everyone else shouldn't be encouraging other members to break rules.

I think she got banned for ICO farming, that concept isn't official yet, but is a bad way to participate in the forum. Too bad for her, she could make some great friends here and learn a lot from the good topics, but in the moment she decided to use the forum to spam for ICO's her account was doomed.

If she will open another account and try it again then i recommend her to be more active in other sections and to join on real discussions, not only ICO spam.

I'm just saying it like it is and being honest. You can consider it a form of protest and I think numerous things should be changed here and nothing will ever change if we just keep quiet. If we'd have just stayed silent on the activity for Newbies requirement then that would have likely never happened but if the rules aren't going to be enforced then I'm not going to pretend that they are. It really doesn't matter what I tell them and I don't think I've said it's ok; I've just said nothing will be done about it by staff/admins, which is true. If nothing is going to be done about certain things then then rules should be changed and it would be better for everyone and less hassle for staff. I think if we use the logic that we allow account sales and scams to happen (or not moderate them) because it's ineffective and too time consuming to do so then the same should be done for ban evasion (if it's not being enforced, which it currently isn't).

Since we all are in internet, it's difficult to prove that your girlfriend that you mentioned is really your real GF ,except you post some picture with the username.
Anyway, since account recovery become the low priority, you can't do nothing about that account so at least you have to learn your mistake for preventing same mistake in the future
