As far as I have observed, Mods aren't pretty much active on deleting some threads, unlike the deletion of several reported posts of the useless posters.

Am not having so much of concerns but it really is much easy if the old threads get deleted. More over, half of our population here (User ID) aren't now active. So it will never affect much when some of those active/inactive accounts get nuked.

In my case, I won't feel bad even if my activities would go down ( Well actually I've been cleaning my account lately -deleting my useless posts )

(This may have been discussed before but I would like to open it again.)

starting from the last page of every board to the current topics which we find useless anymore.

Once i have done this in the Mining section and at some point i got an Pm from a Global mod guess it was hilariousandco and he told me that old Threads stay here as far they dont get pumped for any reason .

Remember some of the Old Threads are sometimes good if you wanted to look for some Info and maybe what was years ago !

Bitcointalk is the biggest Crypto related Museum !

Just leave them as they are .

Why though? Old threads at the bottom of the forums don't bother anyone and in some cases may be relevant for future reference. IMO it's more important to keep up with deleting fresh shitposts rather than digging around in old threads and trying to judge which threads are worthy to keep and which should be pruned.

Yeah, some of them are good and nice to read but still most of them aren't now needed here.
Hmmm, I guess I would just try to report some of them and let's see if its possible.

I never implied that you suggested to delete all of the old threads. I'm just stating that spending time on determining which old thread to delete is (in my opinion) a waste of time.

Thus, some users will want to remove something that compromises them, such as:

The subject`s name remained unchanged from above by subsequent messages.

any reaction..?

As far as I have observed, Mods aren't pretty much active on deleting some threads
Mods do not simply delete threads simply because they are old, threads are deleted because of their redundancy and lack of quality content, old threads are point of references for noobs to start up learning..
If we're to delete old threads we'll have start from satoshi's first post on this forum,to most of our sticky threads(impossible)
More over, half of our population here (User ID) aren't now active. So it will never affect much when some of those active/inactive accounts get nuked.
Read the rules again, accounts do not get banned or nuked only if they've broken our rules, most users use alts and they only patronize such alts sparingly when they need to express an opinion in a cladestine manner..
Satoshi has been away for years, are we to start(ban/nuke)with his/she/their account?

The relevance of a post is not judged by its age but rather it's usefulness and quality information or offers.
Going through old threads especially those which rarely gets visited or bumped you could find real gems there and, No mods can not simply delete them.

Irrelevant threads can be trashed or archived by mods as they add nothing to the discussion and most times grow into spam mega threads

Agree with Lafu, these thread help us to understand the history.

The active administrators are currently:
theymos (me)
Gavin Andresen
sirius

Sirius runs the server.

Interesting to know that we used to have 3 Administrator.
Actually signature of Sirius used to confuse me and now I understand why he has that signature.

I think it is better to lock the old threads rather than delete them. We should preserve history. Smiley

I don't know why these old topics disturbs you. It'a history of forum and I don't see any reasons to delete. Sometimes I find these old topics more interesting and useful to read, mainly because there was no signature campaigns in past. The only problem which we have with these old topics - sometimes they are bumped by noobs, spammers and bots. So, I think that old topics should be locked, but not deleted.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this, well this is just my opinion about your post. You could say that a thread is useless because maybe there is a lot of spam posts that has been made but the main reason why I guess the MODs are not deleting those is because still in that certain thread, or in those useless thread that you were saying, there are still ONE useful post that could answer all of the questions in that certain thread.

More over, half of our population here (User ID) aren't now active. So it will never affect much when some of those active/inactive accounts get nuked.

And for this one, checking those inactive accounts one by one and deleting useless post is a very time comsuming job and it is just a waste of time, MODs can't get something in that, just like what you have said, they are inactive, meaning they can't make useless post again. Let's just not disturb the sleep of those who are already dead.

Yeah, I agree that old threads (especially really old ones from the early days of bitcointalk) don't get deleted just because they're not active.  I think it would be an awful thing if that started happening.

There are a lot of newer threads--especially in the mega spam sections--that IMO deserve to be locked, because they've basically become dumping grounds for bounty spammer excrement and there's nothing worthwhile in most of them.  Hell, even if there were any true gems in those threads, you'd be hard-pressed to actually find them amidst all the garbage.

I think it is better to lock the old threads rather than delete them. We should preserve history. Smiley

It wasn't just for sometimes,...

Then how about the SMTs that has a continuous increase of replies  that seems to be useless? Is it also counted as to be locked up? They already have some more redundant threads out there so Deleting those is quite necessary.

Okay. Let's leave those old folks behind.

Also if a post will be removed many others post will be removed too. And many users take part on signature campaign so if delete a post then there will be lower post count and in this case reward will be decrease or participation can be removed. In this case once a problem is resolved post should be locked instead of removing.
