THIS POST IS MADE FOR NEWBIES AND JUNIORS TO HELP THEM RANK UP

Hello newbies. I have been reading posts where people are literally begging to award them merit. Some of them could be given 1-2 merits as they had shown the intent and have started posting better quality post when compared to their previous work. But, I have only limited resources and cannot award every single one of them and it is always better to teach how to fish rather than give one.

I am just a month old and got a few without much hardwork. Though I have invested time in getting myself acquainted with the rules and procedures of the forum thoroughly. Always spend some time on Meta with the rules. Half the work is done when you know what you don't need to do on the forum.

I have complied a list of topics which has been collected by bisecting the previous data about Merits generated on the forum.

1) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3093768.0
Also check these links as the above thread is very old.
Tool to run online SQL queries over Full Merit Data (Piggy)
Merit Dashboard (DdmrDdmr)
This thread details out which Board has maximum merits along with the number of threads. To make it more insightful the author has also listed all the sub-boards with Merits. A careful analysis would help you better understand which parts of the forum are most likely to award merit.

2) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=recent
This thread is very important as it lists out the merits being given recently. If you go through the list you will find out the people giving maximum merits and on what kind of topics. A careful look and you will know who are the top meriters on this forum. I can easily see those 10-20 people who always award good work.

3) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3046077
This thread lists out all the profiles of major Merit givers who have awarded high number of Merits. Impress one of these with your post and you would never need merits again. While there can be scammers in these lists but you can also read the quality posts.

4) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topusersat & https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=toptopicsat
This post contains top merited users and posts. I am not sure if the top merited users has users without the airdropped ones? If any one knows about it, please answer.

This thread was created to better strategize your activity in case you want to earn merits. Understanding the previous data can help and you can plan your actions accordingly. Still, you need to make constructive contribution to the forum to earn it.

If you are not able to get Merits after posting quality and targeting the correct forums, I will be listing out a few threads where high level members allow users tosubmit their appeal for merit if they have quality posts.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3048258.0
This thread is quite old and I would be checking for more links and will update accordingly.

P.S. I have not created this list so that you can DM and beg for Merits from Merit givers. Such actions will cause more harm than good. Merit begging is frowned upon in BTT world.
All the above threads are not my work and have been linked only for research purposes.

5. Make post on how to get merit.

Mr OP you have really have done well by getting 3 merit from just 7 activities but this post right here is really not necessary. You making post about how to get merit in disguise of you getting merit for yourself well that's very sneaky.

But you won't be getting any merit for this post

Merit is earn and until a good contribution is made merit will elude you

<…>
Just to point out that some of the information indicated could be a bit misleading now days:

-The first link is to a great post by @Zendex, who was the first to publish in-depth stats on merit distribution on the forum and its different sections. Nevertheless, the post was created in early March 2018, and does not show the current state of merit distribution on local boards.
There are more current statistics available which are updated weekly.

See for example:
Tool to run online SQL queries over Full Merit Data (Piggy)
Merit Dashboard (DdmrDdmr)

- To answer your question, the Top Merited Users do not take into consideration airdropped merit, only received merit through their posts.

- The give away thread link points to a post that was created in March 2018. Most of the links within are obsolete and are no longer running. The concept is misleading in a way, since merits are not really given away, but rather more awarded for a decent posting history in most of the cases of the give away threads.

Many people that lack merit really have no wish to create content in order to contribute to the forum, but rather get away with a quick merit and be off to posting for their signature campaign. What is more important is to have the right mindset, and maintain a contributive will there on. That requires time and effort which, unfortunately, is not amongst many posters priorities.

It's true that people don't really look in their ownself and make a checklist and point down their mistakes and decide whether they can really overcome them or need to deal with them. It's good to paper out things as it helps to know ourselves better. Few posters who don't know better English, have merits through local posts but I've even seen many shitposters spamming the local boards as well because there's no spanky level of moderation in those boards. So, instead of watching out for merits, it's extremely necessary for these newbies to please take into account what they're best at, and as well excel more through learning because nobody here would have been eligible to earn but their skills and abilities are what keeps them out of the box, as they outsmart others and get rewarded - be it in merits or BTC (signature campaigns).

I totally agree and I have mentioned it as well that these data can only help you better strategize about your quest for Merit.

You making post about how to get merit in disguise of you getting merit for yourself well that's very sneaky.

But you won't be getting any merit for this post

Merit is earn and until a good contribution is made merit will elude you

Well, I am out here to say that yes I made this post to help the beginners get hold of this data and in return earn some merit if anyone thinks that this post helped him/her. I guess that is the rational behind Merit. Is it not? It would be totally okay if I don't get a Merit for this as I would better my posts. What is sneaky about it? BTW I went through your posts and saw the quality you post. I guess this is better as it would help someone in quest of merit. Accept it or not, 99% of the users are in because of merit. So why not tackle the issue head on. It is like everyone wants one but doesn't want to talk about it.

Thank you for linking such great posts. I see you use Tableau. I have been thinking about checking it out since long. Great Analysis.

Yeah, I know that the threads are down. But posted it just to give an example. I will be looking for more such threads and update accordingly as I had mentioned in the original post.

OP, sorry, nothing personal, but I think this thread wasn't really needed. You put effort into your post and collected correct information, but the problem that there was so many similar topics and you just repeated points which already been covered so many times. I think that there are more than enough information for newbies about Merit.
Accept it or not, 99% of the users are in because of merit. So why not tackle the issue head on. It is like everyone wants one but doesn't want to talk about it.
I think you exaggerate Merit too much. Not everyone here need Merit, same like not everyone came to Bitcointalk to earn money.

Another "how to get merits" thread, it's rather becoming really redundant and unnecessary here on the forum...
Just engage in quality duscussions,i really thought that was the main reason of being on the forum in the first place

Definitely, with constant quality posting, you definitely would gain merits.
One doesn't have to read this long and unreadable thread before being able to earn a merit..
Kudos for the efforts put into it though

There is no direct guide on how to get merits, users have ranked up using different posting styles and strategies and specializing on different boards.

But one thing they share in common is a desire to improve the quality of interaction on the forum and help out other users where necessary.

Merit begging antics is easy to spot, especially when the user is not interested in making or compiling quality posts
But rather aims to appeal to higher ranked users.
That's the reason theymos stated that merits should not be giving to posts you agree with bit posts that are objectively high quality.

Maybe this person didn't know that someone has already opened a topic/thread about how to get merits, but for some reason it is actually good seeing this person trying to help other users and shared the idea of earning merits.

I think the OP know that already but still open this thread to earn merit but as we can see this thread would only help newbies on how to earn merit instead of contributing to this forum. This thread is only focused on helping newbies and not contributing to forum. As stated by DdmrDdmr which had lots of experience and knowledge even stated this:
Just to point out that some of the information indicated could be a bit misleading now days:

For you,
I would like to suggest you to spend a couple more minutes to make a hyperlink with title, because doing this will help readers feel more comfortable, and easily to know which sorts of objectives and/ or contents the given topics are.

For example:
With the third given topic inside your OP,  fistly I quoted the original one.
Quote
3) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3046077
This thread lists out all the profiles of major Merit givers who have awarded high number of Merits. Impress one of these with your post and you would never need merits again. While there can be scammers in these lists but you can also read the quality posts.

I suggest you to do like this [adding tittle of quoted topics inside the open and close url], and the same for others. I believe that you known it, so please spend a bit more seconds when composing your posts next times.
Code:
[url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3046077]Merit stat & all transactions more than 40 Merits[/url]
This approach will lead to the following one:
Merit stat & all transactions more than 40 Merits
Personally, I believe this approach is better than yours.

In addition, preparing better knowledge on blockchain technology is another good approach to get merits in the future.
Here is link to my topic, which started months ago, and collected available courses (most of them are online, free ones) on blockchain technologies.
Available courses on Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology from colleges and Universities

If you want to get merit then you have to create a meaningful and informative post which can bring you merit points. Otherwise asking for merit it is really showing cheap mentality so make your post healthy because nobody is ready to offer you merit.

Haha thank you so much. At first I was just regarding this bitcoin forum as a place I can look at others' comments or reviews on different topics, but now I think being a part of the members should try to make some contributions by sharing my comments, even if there might me mistake. Mistakes can allow me to work on more accurate and quality comments.

If you want to get merit you have to make highly informative and qualified posts for having merits. If your post doesn't carry information then no one is interested to give you merit. Asking merits almost like a beggar so make healthy and informative posts merit will come automatically.

Thanks mate for the constructive feedback. Will make sure that it is implemented in my future posts.

And yeah, it makes the post look much cleaner.

If you want to get merit then you have to create a meaningful and informative post which can bring you merit points. Otherwise asking for merit it is really showing cheap mentality so make your post healthy because nobody is ready to offer you merit.

Thank you for your unsolicited advice.

There are merit sources available in the forum who are to give out merit to deserving members you can not have a write up to know how they give merit all you need to I make constructive and impact full post

That is what I have always strived to achieve.

I went through your post history to look for one meaningful post. It was filled with bounty work. Show me any constructive comment of yours and I will Merit you.

Sure mate. Take your time to understand the concept. There is always so much to learn in the world. Start by writing better and you will see that you have been merited.
