19th Spetember 2018 - one of my worst days on this forum. That day I’ve realized that @Theymos introduced Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements and I was automatically downgraded from Jr. Member to Newbie Before that day I always though that without crypto knowledge at the expert level and perfect knowledge of English getting even one merit is impossible. But making me a Newbie again was to much... So I’ve decided to „fight for my Jr. Member rank” honestly my whole plan was: to get one single merit - nothing more... but it was 51 days ago and today I’ve got my 100th merit and become „self made” Full Member. So, with this short post I’d only like to thank some of you guys for showing me that this whole merit system really works and if anyone put some effort, time (honestly quite a lot of time) and willingness it’s really possible get higher rank. And what is also funny it turned out that this whole merit thing is also very addictive and challenging... Firstly I have to thank @Theymos - although he did not help me directly, his decision to introduce new rules was the catalyst that mobilized me to work. Secondly but much more I want to thank all of you who have read, criticized, discussed, sometimes even quoted but in particular rewarded my posts with merits. Sepecial thanks to: DarkStar_ for giving me my first merit ever and also the hope that I’m able to get any TMAN for giving me as many as 12 merit for single post DdmrDdmr for Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard , Piggy for Tool to run online SQL queries over Full Merit Data and Vod for Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! - all of them have created great tools for merit and user analysis which helped me a lot to get many of my merits wwzsocki for his efforts to improve the level of discussion on the Polish local board and BitCryptex, bones261, DdmrDdmr, Don Pedro Dinero, DooMAD, Farul, Flangler, Foxpup, guybrushthreepwood, hilariousandco, JayJuanGee, Jet Cash, krogothmanhattan, loughlin, LoyceV, LTU_btc, malevolent, marlboroza, nid125, poptok1, Sheme, stingers, STT, suchmoon, taikuri13, Tytanowy Janusz, vlad230, Welsh, wgd, wwzsocki, for rewarding my posts with merits.

Inspiring i should say. Definitely feels good when you rank up knowing you did some good work helping other in the forum. At first when this Merit system was introduced, i thought it would really be so hard to rank up to full member but i seems achievable. Congratulations... you will inspire many including me

Your case is just further proof of the efficacy of the merit system, and the nonchalant attitude imbibed by the erstwhile(deranked)junior members prior to the enhanced newbie/jr member restriction(which obviously I'm part of such neglect) When I was introduced by a friend,he practically gave me a basic tutoring, but never spoke about merits, I was only told to make 30posts and wait for a month and join a bounty, and I could do that on about 5 accounts... Waking up to the news of the restrictions, and I was a bit confused, only then was I told by my tutor that something such as merit existed..
And it actually didn't take me too long to earn one, apparently without the enhanced merit system,i would not really have known about the merits, and how they help in incentivizing the forum I may not be moving as fast as you are/did,but I believe I'm making progress(as I deviated from ever spamming the forum)
Congratulations @OP, you've done really well in such a short space of time, speedy trip on your journey to sr member rank.

Congrats! Achieving such rank while the merit system was implemented is a portfolio itself. You did it in less than a hundred days, for that I gave you 5 merits. You should include me in the list above A lot had tried to make their way up and you are just one that had got it. Soon to be Sr so god luck.

Nice. The Jr member demotion was actually a catalyst to spark dissatisfaction among those affected and it either made them discouraged and negative or motivated, and I for one decided to be motivated
I made a welcome message explaining my situation as I wanted to be very open this time around.
And it has paid off for me, not in your scale though which is truly remarkable, but I appreciate the little acknowledgement I have gained. And it sure is addictive, after the one, you want one more and then another. Always new mountains to climb. And I must confess I was getting a little demotivated and satisfied, buy your post couldn't come at a better time, time to saddle up. Congratulations on scaling yet another mountain.

We will caught up, but for me I don't bother the most merit or not life goes on. Merit system really do work and those who are complaining are the spammers or just caring to earn more on signature campaigns or else the worst is just to spam and not contributing works in the forum.

Congratulations in your achievements. I went through your post history to get some tips, most of them which I saw were in your local board, which I believe is polish.
I managed to get an overview of you post style, and use of images and the entire post options (icons). The myth that ranking up has become harder is actually wrong, since the enhanced newbie restriction other members has actually been more motivated to reward the quality posters.

Exactly, so we really don't understand newbies bitching around saying its hard to earn the 1 precious merit. We have seen a lot of 'self-made' members here so it only shows that it can be done and we all have the statistics to back it up. And for those newbies, don't lose hope, its not a race but a journey, unless you're a bounty whore and are just here in the community to make money, then it will be really a long, long road for you.

Well done there! Nice to see case(s) of fast progression in such a short time span, that provide decent enough content to the forum, and it goes to prove that by investing time and making an effort instead of complaining, ranking-up is totally feasible. I guess that moving on to the English boards and baring a decent command of the language contributes to the feat, since receiving merits on the local Polish board is rather difficult (only just over 300 aggregate have been awarded there so far).

Newbies should read such threads more, not spend their time on whining about the injustice of the system or begging to give them at least 1 merit. If the newcomers had the same desire and attitude as the OP, we would see examples of "self made" ranked-up members more often.

Not so difficult, but not so easy as well, as you can see you've got up to 250 posts and no merits yet, just goes to show you've got to retrace your steps on the forum and engage in merit worthy discussions as well as start merit worthy posts Try clearing your post history as well, so much activity without merits often tend to discourage users from handing one out.. Congratulations @OP for your landmark achievement, your case definitely would inspire many on the forum

Merits are for good constructive posts, not posts trying to claimbointies. I got half way down your last page to realise that that is most of what you do Congrats on the full membership op, your merits that you’ve earn have now overtaken mine - need to put myself out there a bit more.

Congratulation cryptovigi well deserved. Will send you some merits when I get them smerits . Each time I see a new topic of self made full members I get reassured that i too someday will reach that level if and only if i continue adding value to the forum in my own little ways with some improvement. Funny but I have already started drafting my thank you topic, taking note of my merit fans, Inspirers etc. As for the main time I'll be enjoying my latest post creditsCongratulations once again, truly the merit system has proven to be doing its job.

Congrats cryptovigi, hope people take you as an example to understand how to grow their accounts. No one says it would be easy but is possible for the ones who try it and work hard for it. The goal about the merit system was to bring quality to the forum, that's all we want, more quality and less spam, for those ones who make it well then there is a prize, but those ones who keep spamming doesn't have future anymore.

Nicely done! It is very rare to find lower rank members (you are not one anymore, but you come from there) to be thankful to theymos for his doings unless they are trying to get some attention by doing that. It obviously takes a lot of guts to accept and obey something that you have never thought you will have to do, and you did it. Hopefully, more people would also choose the path of hard work and dedication and stop complaining all the time. Congratulations, and welcome to the Full member club!

Congrats, and it seems you ranked up the right way and showed that it can be done--we all know damn well that there are 1000s of noobs who think they have no chance in hell of ever reaching a rank higher than Jr. Member (and for many of them, that's probably true). This is how the merit system is supposed to function: it's Darwinian, and only the best and most worthy members are going to increase in rank, while the rest will linger as the kind of chimps who are so low on the social ladder that all they do is groom the alpha monkeys to avoid getting their food stolen and their ass kicked. Please please pretty please... don't quote the whole OP because you'll end up on JetCash's ignore list...
Word. Everyone should be learning that lesson around here.

Guys I just don’t know what to say… As I wrote the main purpose of this post was to thank many people who entouraged me, but being fully honest I also hope to get few congrats… But this whole feedback I was given… words like "an example", "an inspiration"… I feel really ashamed ;-) I won’t lie – I am proud a bit of myself and getting next rank gave me really a lot of satisfaction but you know what is funny: it was yesterday… and today... I really don’t think much about merits I got and posts I wrote – I look forward next challenge and you probably know what it could be… Once again thanks guys for all your feedback and rewarding me so lavishly again. And one more word for all low ranked users – I wrote this in my very first thread ( Short story about being merited….) in September and I still think the same way: ... When I got first merit my job was done, but... I found this merit kind of fun and challege as well. So I've ranked to Jr Member than to Member and now I'm aiming to Full Member rank. 100 Merits is my actual challenge. I'm not thinking that earning this amount will be easy but now I'm sure that is possible for me. And if it's possible to me it's also possible for you! So once again Don't loos faith! ;-) ...

Congrats! The OP author is one more strong case study that real constructive users can rank up with merit system and new rank requirements. I am not too far from my reachable target to become a Full Member. I need 33 more merits to reach it. I believe that I can do something and can reach it someday, might be this year.

Congratulations, @Cryptovigi, you are the perfect proof that nothing is impossible and all you need is a bit of determination to get your goal. Members of the Bitcointalk forum have become accustomed to everything coming easily and without the slightest effort. The shock therapy in the form of merits is good for everyone and especially for our forum. Thank you for noticing and appreciating my efforts in the Polish section. It's nice to be on such a list.

Before that day I always though that without crypto knowledge at the expert level and perfect knowledge of English getting even one merit is impossible.
Which seems reasonable to conclude that. For me, that was all true. Chances of getting merit are less for those members who belong to the mediocrity what more to those members who don't even know the basics of cryptocurrency. It only means that Knowledge is the greatest basis for ranking.
Congrats, you deserve to be promoted . Though you are more quite active in your local board, I think it doesn't hinders you at all for getting merit. I look into yout post history and I can say that your above average. Keep up the good work.

cryptovigi, You are an inspiration. Do you ever need part-time opportunities? If you see this can I ask for permission to PM you sometime? <snip>

Oops, both of you might also get ignored by Jet Cash . Kidding aside, quoting the whole post is not a good habit. Only quote what your answer will correspond or only what you want to emphasize. Do better next time.
