Hi there brothers and sisters in crypt

I am a newcomer and want to ask some experienced people for info.

Id like to buy some crypto but dont know where to start...

1. i have to get a wallet-- registered and got one by blockchain.com ---Hold strategy.

as i see in the wallet, i can directly buy, sell or  hold there the currency. Is it correct??

Is this wallet OK or there are some better wallets?

there are many different cryptomarkets like kraken and so on-- do i need them  or not?

perhaps you  have smth else to say to enrich me with information-- i just have no idea what to ask else....

Thank you for your answers in advance.

@ Admin-- if wrong topic- please do not delete but replace into the correct theme topic. Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum.

A site you should definitely keep for your reference is CMC or coinmarketcap - https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/
The link above will show you the top exchanges in the world. You cant go wrong with Binance, it has open registrations for new members and is one of the best there is.

You can find a list of supported wallets on the Bitcoin site. Here is the link:
https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet

Bitcoin.com wallet is easy to use and doesn't require the whole blockchain to work on your PC.
Other popular options are Blockchain.com wallet, Jaxx, Coinomi (mobile wallet).
The safest option is to purchase a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger.

The preferred option is to purchase your BTCs from an exchange but you can also buy them from a site like https://localbitcoins.com/
There you can buy with your bank account, WU, credit cards, in-person deals... Just enter your location and the preferred payment method and search for local traders in your area.

Welcome redoktober
"some ctypto" doesn't forcely mean btc.
The notes above should be enough helpful if you want to purchase btc. At time you want to purchase another crypto, you can use the same platforms of purchase but you have to make wallets for each crypto you want to hold; blockchain.com helps you hodl btc, bch, and ethereum but if you would like to try coinomi there is a full list of supported cryptos. You should read more about wallets and how you get access to them.

Yes it's enough. Read all the security measures for your wallet and enable all features related to security. You should know that your login and password are unrecoverable without the 12 words (seed).
Blockchain.com is the most trusted, known, popular web-wallet for btc Don't forget to save your seed in a safe offline emplacement.
Don't forget to save your seed words in a safe offline emplacement (paper) .

That's right, you can use blockchain.com as your wallet but its not advisable to store your coins there if you decided to keep it there for a long time. For small amounts, there's no problem on it as you know blockchain.com is a web wallet and you shouldn't completely trust it.

If you want to keep, go for hardware wallets.

1. Ledger nano s
2. Trezor

Blockchain.com is the most trusted, known, popular web-wallet for btc
That's an old-school phrase, I don't believe blockchain.com is the most trusted wallet, first, it's not even a wallet or you can call them an account instead, a wallet doesn't require any email.

Here's you can do it;
  • First, create an account to one of this exchange below, they offer fiat to crypto so, you can buy crypto using your credit cards or your bank account if I'm not mistaken. Some of them require you to proceed a KYC procedure first before you can buy crypto from fiat. I warn you, some fiat to crypto transactions cost huge fees.
  • Once you bought crypto from the exchanges above, you have to move your coins out there, so you have to create a wallet and move them there, I suggest using coinomi instead of blockchain.com and bitcoin.com wallets, they have a built-in exchange so you can exchange BTC to any crypto or even fiat to crypto as well.
  • If you want to hold your BTC in long term you can use electrum desktop wallet or if you hold many crypto then you can invest in buying hardware wallets like ledger nano s which is more or less 100$ in price now If I'm correct

But of course, to keep your crypto asset safe you have to keep them and make a backup of your seed(recovery phrase) and keep them offline which is mentioned above already. Make sure that you're the only one knows where you save your backup or else you will end losing them.

Blockchain.com lacks the essential features of a wallet and has been buggy over the last years. If you're into holding, I wouldn't recommend it.

Here's some sites which should help you choose:

1. https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet - What I like about this list is how on point their description are, for each wallet, hence you'll know what to expect!
2. https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/wallets - This one also list wallets and has this wallet finder thing which apparently finds a wallet based on your preference, but of course thats not why I list it, its mainly because of their bitcoin wallet FAQ's which is a must read since at the end of the day, you yourself will secure your wallet.

And for buying bitcoin, its much better to look for a local exchange, where are you from?

Oh and bitcoin.org has also a neat FAQ's for bitcoin so you might wanna check that!

I advise you to don't hold bitcoin in a web wallet which is not safe compared to use a desktop wallet like electrum or bitcoin core.
If you are using bitcoin for daily basis blockchain is fine but I heard lots of issues using their service before so I don't suggest to use it just for the safe your funds.

Electrum is the best wallet to hold bitcoin and it is a light version of bitcoin core.

If you are talking about trading where you can buy or exchange your bitcoin you can try binance you can buy sell but not good for holding funds.
