Every day, we face some repetitive threads, especially in Help and Beginners. The same is also happening in meta and other sections too.
What if there is a warning message while someone starts to create a new topic. I have attached an edited image with a warning message. I think it will encourage people to use the search. By doing so, repetitive threads may be reduced(exception- altcoins board  Grin).

Some more suggestions from below discussion

At most I think a simple warning that says something along the lines of "Ensure your post does not break the rules", with a link to mprep's thread.

but before that it will be better to add some guidelines as well about how to search the required content because sometimes I do search I can't find the required thread but it is available at some sections.
We do have.
[Tips] Guide for forum search
[How-to] the Search button

I am suggesting to use the blue font color keep a cool look of the message.

I agree with S_Therapist there should be a warning/note with a link included to the search page. Just displaying a warning won't do much.

It can reduce the workload of moderators as well, but before that it will be better to add some guidelines as well about how to search the required content because sometimes I do search I can't find the required thread but it is available at some sections.

It's a good suggestion, but it's not really feasible for one reason. We've had suggestions over the past few weeks in various threads to have similar warnings about not plagiarizing, not necro-bumping, not posting worthless comments, not embedding massive quote pyramids, and now searching before posting. Although it would be great if everyone followed all these rules, we obviously can't add them all in to the posting page as suggested.

At most I think a simple warning that says something along the lines of "Ensure your post does not break the rules", with a link to mprep's thread.

We do have.
[Tips] Guide for forum search
[How-to] the Search button
In addition, you can easily find every query from google. It's quite easy. Just add the word bitcointalk.org after your query.
For example, how to search bitcointalk site:bitcointalk.org

~snip~
True but when there will be a message, I think some people will definitely care, at least people who are here for having a real discussion. Those people will definitely think twice before starting a new thread.

At most I think a simple warning that says something along the lines of "Ensure your post does not break the rules", with a link to mprep's thread.
Yes, this can be more helpful but no one will read it for sure because for reading the rules, with tl;dr they have to go to another page. Isn't it better to show the message on the same page?

Yes indeed OP that would be appropriate but let us not take it as a warning message for it is not a violation when creating the same thread with the other users. There could be a chance that one will tend to create same topic to emphasize more on its presentation and to alter some of its content or add some meaningful post for the topic. There are times that a thread should be elaborated to stimulate users to join in the discussions.

Quote
Please refer to old posts before starting a thread. Use the search button to quickly search posts.

I am suggesting to use the blue font color keep a cool look of the message. I am not fan of red font color for I found it very intimidating.
It would be good also to use a pop up message that will appear before proceeding to start a new topic. The content of the pop up message will be also like this,

Quote
Please refer to old posts before starting a thread. Use the search button to quickly search posts.

Surely this will help to minimize redundant topics that has been created over and over again.

Again OP, this is a brilliant suggestion either way of the note above suggested from other users and yours as well would take good and for the betterment of the forum.

Suggestion is not bad but I don't think spambie will read it. Even they haven't bothered to read pin post before made a new topic. Lots if solution on pin post, but spambie don't like to read it. It will never end, that kind of post should handle by mod. I always try to report this kind of post if I found. Like same question from multiple people's. Mostly time mod locked the post. I believe although we can't prevent but we can help forum by reporting this kind of post.

It may happen one day, but we are still waiting for the welcome message. It should guide you trough how to start with this messy forum, of course if you spare some time to read it.

One thing that is obvious on the forum,is laziness on the part of some members to read/search before Starting a new topic..

It's been discussed over and over again, even our stickies points to such, as it directs noobs to read before posting
But apparently you see questions that such stickies answers been asked, which means it definitely wasn't read ..

And there is no guarantee that they'll read this one

It's not Laziness, its the UX(User Experience) Let's be honest here. The design isn't as obvious as it should be. The Search button is blended in, I didn't find it until I was at the member rank, Plus the Default search doesn't lands the right result most of the times. Also, if you browse the forum on a mobile you won't find the search button at all until you scroll to the right part of the page. Googling something with bitcointalk in the title yields more accurate results than the forum search.

I agree with S_Therapist there should be a warning/note with a link included to the search page. Just displaying a warning won't do much.

Nah man. This is too preposterous. This is a forum, we won't run out of space, if multiple threads are created with the same concern. People are just overdoing this too much. It won't end the world if multiple threads are created.

Even if there's a warning, and suppose a random newbie found a 5 year old thread useful and decides to post there, someone or the other would get agitated by it, and will come here complaining "Theymos, don't allow newbies to post in threads that are older than 120 days because they are necro-posting". You can't satisfy people. Newbies would do stupid shit like creating new threads about their issue or whatever because that's why they came here for/to shitpost. This happens all across the internet, so don't tell me people do it here only for money. This is common, and you'd be a fool if you think you're clever enough to tell a bunch of fools what's wrong and what's right, because they might just never get it.

Get over it already.

It would sure improve awareness as most of the forum users are not aware of the risks available to them. And reminding users to search could maybe help reduce redundant topics.

Toggling between forum search and Google Search could help hit a more accurate feedback.

It's not a matter of running out of space. Won't we appraise a thread which have constructive and on-topic repiles? Of course, we will get bored when someone posts a reply with same thought which already have been answered by someone previously. When you read a thread, I don't think you will feel better if you see some replies with same thoughts. The same also applies here. If you see the same thread/query again and again, it really looks weird.
In the welcome message which is being developed, afaik, theymos has also asked people to search before posting same query.
First, search for your problem to see if anyone has asked about it before. If you don't find anything on it, ask in the Meta section. If you don't speak English well, either ask in your local section or PM the moderators of your local section.

Logically you will search here or on google and after no success, come here to open thread and get answer on your question, am I right? I would do the same but consider that some people don't have this logic. If someone wants to create thread and receive answer directly in his/her thread, that message can't change his/her thoughts. Just push Report To Moderator, this task isn't something you have to worry much.

I do not think it will help to show the warning, until and unless these threads are not trashed and message sent to OP telling it as duplicate thread.

Why I think so?

Because I daily see necrobumped threads, if you quote/reply thread more than 120 days old, you got the warning and still user bump them.

That would present quite a lot of workload to the moderators to search whether or not a thread has been discussed before and also decide if it deserves to be discussed again, as it can be presented with tweaks and modifications.

As users of course we can help out by reporting redundant threads and the mods take the appropriate action.
The conflict if old, golden threads and spam mega threads is what I believe is stopping any drastic action being taken.

I agree with you,
Most people try to know something, and avoid important pin-posts and locked topic and they post again on the same topic. And the only thing we should do here is to report it.
