I'm not sure if the merit system has improved things to any appreciable extent, although I noticed right from the beginning that members were upping the quality of their posts. There are still way too many shitposters, though, and that's because bounties generally don't have any sort of merit or rank requirements. If
that were to change, I think we'd see a dramatic improvement on bitcointalk.

This is just a typical noob fishing for merits by spouting fake gratitude and blowing sunshine up our asses, hoping a merit source agrees with what he's writing and gives him a merit for his effort. Seen it a thousand times since January.
