Dig Bicks, you started a Meta thread here, and I assume it was you who locked it.  It was a pretty cowardly thing saying I couldn't pass an algebra test and then rage-locking the thread.  I'll have you know that while I'm not a computer scientist or engineer, I made it through differential equations and linear algebra in college.  That may not be an accomplishment compared to a lot of members here who are math geniuses, but my point is that you have no idea what my level of education is.

I also don't know what your problem with signature campaigners in general is, because although many people who wear advertising in their signature space are part of the spam problem bitcointalk is facing, not all of us are part of that problem.  I get that you're a troll, but when you mention me specifically, at least be a man and keep the thread open.

I was just reading that thread; I guess more of a statement as there is no room for reply. Reminds me of the good old scam Ads, that don't want an objective conversation to take place. I honestly assumed you had just Neg'd him or something was going on behind the scenes.

I'd say you are starting to draw the ire of anyone who doesn't like a balanced, and well thought out approach to dealing with their ravings.

Not sure if you have a reputation thread, like some DT members, so I'll say my piece here in regards to you and the statements made.

Who cares what level of math you could solve, in the context of this forum and how you use it. That has no bearing on your ability to actively participate in the community as a productive member. Apart from that I'd like to say I've been reading a lot of your posts recently where you weigh in or offer another point of view to charged situations. I think you have done a great job of approaching each of them in a reasonable way by looking at both sides of the dispute.

Finally, good job not overreacting with the trust system. I write this because I disagree with people being Neg'd for their comments, no matter how stupid or childish.


I know this will probably just be used as fodder for anyone without a real argument, but my sig doesn't change my behavior or opinions.

Isn't this all caused by porn, which often uses math on blackboards as part of the scenes? There's even Blackboards in Porn to analyse to quality of the porn math you're watching.

Sweet jeezum, what has this world come to?  This is why I rarely go outdoors anymore.

In any case, perhaps it's my own insecurity about my severe lack of knowledge of blockchain tech that caused my defensiveness here, and for all the math I've studied--which is probably a fraction of what a lot of members here studied--I never used it professionally and have gotten rusty.  So rusty, in fact, that I'm now doubting whether I really would be able to pass a college-entrance math test.  Mathematics never came easily to me, though once I got past first-year calculus a lot of it started making sense and I was an able chemistry student.

That's more than probably any of you wanted to know about me.  I would like to state, however, that even though my knowledge of the math of cryptocurrency is abysmal, I am still able to understand how useful such a thing can be and how revolutionary it is.  I was never good at fixing cars, either, but I can appreciate how valuable having one is and how much good they've done for the world, and I can certainly still doff my hat to mechanics and engineers for their knowledge of automobiles--just like I do to those math/crypto/tech nerds who really know what they're talking about when they speak of crypto.

Thank you for the kind words.  I could be gone from DT by tomorrow morning for all I know, but while I'm on the list I don't think it's a good thing to leave negs for petty reasons, and I don't think I've yet done so.  There might be disagreement about some of the negs I've left, but I haven't left any because I personally don't like someone, and there's usually a reference link attached with the red trust I've handed out.

I can't believe people are doing analysis on porn, well, it was interesting to read it. Can we now move to next scene where teacher is wearing only glasses and high heels?  
You have to see this and this posts. I am pretty sure they used wrong part of the brain when they attacked TP, which is probably caused by blood leaving brain to fill lower organs.

Just to make something clear, this isn't trolling, it is my observation looking at Dig Bicks forum nick and post history. @TP just ignore them, you don't really need to explain yourself to any one.

Dig Bicks has problems with sanity in general so I would be more concerned if he didn't have a problem with TP, whom I consider one of the most sane and level-headed people here.

The whole point of bitcoin is to be universal. Although it's a bonus if you can, you don't need to be able to explain or even really understand cryptographic hash functions to use bitcoin. If bitcoin is ever going to become a truly widespread/global currency, then you can bet >99% of its user won't know what SHA-256 is. Dig Bicks' holier-than-thou attitude is at odds with entire point of bitcoin.

The fact is that your posts are far more valuable and interesting to read than his spamming/trolling. It's just like saying you don't need to understand what IP addresses are to use the internet. Works well but one can definitely access the internet more safely should the know how IP addresses work. SHA-256 is too far but not knowing what private keys can lead to loss of their valuable bitcoins.

Personal preference again. I find posts involving math and technical insights more interesting over the regular gossips on the forum. It's a Bitcoin forum and definitely, people expect a certain level of technical fluency here. At least to a level where a person knows what a private key is and how wallets work.

Without investigating a case people start judging others , this is insane like what you are experiencing now . Thanks, I do appreciate that.  I'm pretty sure Dig Bicks is an alt account, but I'm wondering if it could be QS's.  QS tends to not troll from his main account but might very well create a new one in order to do so--or it could be my paranoia flaring up again.  Dig Bicks has a pretty high level of literary competency relative to the average knucklehead here (or so it seems).  And QS, for all his faults, knows how to put together sentences in logical order, even if what he says is either completely hypocritical or wrong.  That's what's got me wondering.

I mean, I obviously agree with you there. There is a certain baseline level of knowledge that is required to be safe, but knowing what your private keys are and how to store them is sufficient. As I said, although it is good if you do, you certainly don't need to understand how private keys are generated to be able to use crypto safely.


I am aware I am going way off topic here. My point is that crypto, and by extension, this forum, should be open to all regardless of mathematical education (provided you are not scamming, spamming, trolling, etc).

In fact, I have never been on a date where I did not ask her to do math problems. You may think this standard is strange, but I value intelligence in a partner. And yes, I have walked out on a date where she refused to solve math problems.

That's something else.  Either he's completely trolling or has ridiculously high standards as far as choosing friends go.  I like hanging out and talking to smart people (especially people who know chemistry & pharmacology), but it sure as hell isn't a requirement to be friends with me.  I'm no left-wing diversity nut by any means, but I value such things as kindness, humor, and other attributes that are hard (and unnecessary) to quantify.
