because bitcoin is decentralized so it doesn't have any owner like a company behind it (similar to what altcoins have like Ripple Foundation, Ethereum foundation,...) to advertise it! bitcoin is its own advertisement when it comes to utilities, people see how it is used and then decide whether to use it or not instead of looking at some hyped up mostly fake ad and be fooled into buying bitcoin.

besides who is going to pay the fees? will you put money in advertising it since it is your own idea?

The community itself does the advertising by creating online content, that is, anything from articles, to tweeting about it, to youtube videos.... then mainstream media sees the traffic that that content can generate, which incentives them to create clickbait articles about how it's mooning or about how Bitcoin is once again dead for the #323 time and counting:

So basically, no one owns the Bitcoin brand, everyone that talks about it is automatically a marketer of it.

Well there is no particular entity that would personal sponsor the advert of bitcoin. Some projects that deals with bitcoin can throw an advert for bitcoin but in relation to there project

As BrewMaster posted Bitcoin has no owner, no centralised governing body.
The only advert i have seen on T.V for instance was for ETORO which is a
social trading platform for crypto and others like apple. ETORO is a business
though so they are only advertising their site not specifically Bitcoin.

Anyone is free to advertise Bitcoin but they would be working as an individual
or group of individuals.

Usually, we only see some talks about bitcoin on social medias. Also, there are some advertisements for ICOs, cryptocurrencies projects and some websites. We don't see advertisements for bitcoin because there is no one governing bitcoin who pay for advertisements. Medias don't advertise something freely.

There is no one to organize it as such, the only ones that have ads are certain ICOs that work with a centralized entity, at least on the side of development and marketing, but as bitcoin is so decentralized does not have someone to take care of that, maybe it is what we need to take off, more marketing.

Bitcoin it's decentralized, so users do this work. instead of asking why? Do something to change this, maybe it will help the price in the future.

Maybe you can create a community that can handle this Crypto-revolution. This is the best moment to start creating value for Bitcoin and crypto.

Most investors jumped in while btc price approching 20k were just interested in the profits of trading or mining or holding , no one really use it for something useful , bitcoin isn't just a make money fast , it's a revolutionary idea that should be advertised they way it is , i only said this so it may pull the trigger of a good idea for some trusted members here in the forum , also sorry for my english

Just came across that part of 99 bitcoins and is great content out there. Amazing. But as for the OP question, yes it's more like word of mouth as there's no real entity owning it (decentralized) or brand labeled on it. Just those who holds it give the free marketing. It's up for them or crypto enthusiasts (as it also affects in some degree the whole community) as to whether they will say good or bad about it.

I completely agree that we need advertising. But since bitcoin is decentralized, it is not clear who should do this advertising. In addition, I think that bitcoin does not need advertising, in the same way as the Internet as a whole did not need advertising. With the development of blockchain technology, people themselves will understand the value of bitcoin.

Ads are related to the desires, ambitions, and emotions of consumers. Technical aspects are not what excites emotions.
Many of the projects based on crypto based on the comparison between cryptocurrencies and modern payments without mentioning the technical aspects in detail because the duration of the declaration is often short and the trends of users tend to stir more than knowledge.

The community themselves would have to run these ads, even then people might not accept them being ran because they know that no one is in control of bitcoin so can't speak on its behalf. I think most likely there would need to be a big group of the community working together for anything like this to happen.

We don't need those ads, there are volunteers who have been spreading bitcoin ads on newspapers and on television? we don't really need it. They are covering and following the trend for bitcoin just like CNBC, so its already an exposure for bitcoin.

But the sad thing sometimes, they are discussing on how bad the fall for bitcoin. Anyway, good or bad publicity is still publicity. And awareness for bitcoin is spreading so there's really no need for that.

That'll be hard since most Bitcoin users prefer to hold or trade rather than to spend their Bitcoin.

But the sad thing sometimes, they are discussing on how bad the fall for bitcoin.

It's not just sometimes. Once there's a bad news about Bitcoin articles,threads,videos,speculations will pop out left and right.

Yeah, I can agree with you that Bitcoin it is a revolutionary Idea but last year a lot of people joined just for money, to make a quick buck with BTC, ETH, and some ICOS and there's something more awful they want Bitcoin to be regulated by governments.

They believe after the government proposes a clear patch of rules to trade and regulate the whole ecosystem, they will see institutional investors come to put a big part of its money in this instrument who is disrupting it's industry something that I'm very cautious.   

They don't want to lose their high fees, they don't want to lose their control, all they want in the end it's to destroy bitcoin and all the freedom created this last ten years.

Why I do believe that just check the last speech of one of the main head in the FMI.

they believe they can manage cryptocurrencies better than our decentralized communities.

They are even starting a WAR in the media about that, check the last article of NY Times, talking of Why cryptocurrencies price plunged this year?

Still depends on "WHO" will handle the funds for that, also I dont think that we can collect fund in this community that is enough to promote or advertise Bitcoin.

But if Im one of the lucky people that is already here from the start and surely most of them already earn a lot of money from Bitcoin I will do this thing because I know that it is not for me but for the whole community.

I think it is because the regulations of some countries, and the government doesn't support the ads of bitcoin.
The decentralized nature of bitcoin and cryptocurrency makes government cannot take the responsible if something happening in btc if they advertise it on their country. That's why we rarely or never see any bitcoin ads in media.

i seriously doubt that advertisement is going to change anything. all you may achieve is more speculators who are going to enter for the profit and although you may secretly want that too but your comment doesn't say it here so ads are not the solution.

what you need to do is to increase the real adoption. so start with yourself. how many times have to spent bitcoin? start doing that.
how many times have to asked a service, merchant,... online or offline to accept bitcoin payment? start doing that.
do you own a business yourself? why don't YOU accept bitcoin payments?
are you an employee? if yes then have you asked your boss to pay a part of your salary in bitcoin?

you see you have to start from yourself. you can't expect others to do it for you. start and others will follow. for example if you started accepting bitcoin in your shop (assuming you have a shop as an example) other neighbors may follow, other people coming to the shop are introduced to bitcoin or if they already know it will see that bitcoin is a currency and will use it more.

Maybe you want a solution to the increase in the price of Bitcoin by advertising it widely in many media with the hope that Bitcoin will be adopted massively like the end of 2017. But Bitcoin itself is decentralized, so I am confused who will pay the media for Bitcoin advertising. But Bitcoin adopts blockchain technology that is very beneficial to many people, so people will be attracted to and convey it widely by word of mouth.

It is said that advertising will make more bitcoin more people know but most of the bitcoin that owns it hardly support it. Earning or mining Bitcoin isn't even that hard nowadays, you can get an already set-up mining rig, join a mining pool and you're off! You just have to pay for electricity and you are making money. It would be pretty good if someone that has some knowledge and will to promote Bitcoin made an ad that would actually mean something. But an individual can't make profit on such ads unless it promotes his company or something, so the best hope would be a cheap small ad.

Bitcoin is not gotten popular because the ads, but because it is being used by many peoples around the world.
Aside from using ads, i think we can using project with bitcoin usage inside that project.
If we can create public awareness from the project, the coin value will increasing.

We need bitcoin ads to educate people of using it. Easier for them to understand about bitcoin being a decentralised digital currency . More benefits  of using it . A peer to peer transaction and no third party involve to it.

Bitcoin already became popular, no need to advertise bitcoin anymore.
If you ask peoples in my country whether they know bitcoin or not, they mostly will say yes.
I think this is because the community of bitcoin has growing and making awareness to other peoples, not the ads of bitcoin.
