Please tell me where there is no scam?  The scam may happen everywhere, as long as someone exists, there may be a scam.

ICO is just a way of financing, but it is used by scammers. So whether it is a scam depends on who is using it, not itself.
I don't care if the project I am joining is scam or not, this should not be my duty because I am not a detective and I can't stop these scams.
But if I realize that it might be scam, I will leave and telling friends who participated in the same bounty about my thoughts.

You meant "join" here is investing in ICOs? I think you should spend more time to study about ICOs which you would like to take a part in. I have still seen many good ICOs out there.

Maybe you should invest in ICO with actually working products? Gives a bit more trust I think

Before you invest, you need to check the team behind the project. What are the brand's distinguishing features. Is their product ready or maybe in the development phase. There are many factors that allow you to protect yourself against fraud.

Careful research will help to eliminate the most of the risk factors related to investing in ICO. However, there is always chance that even reliable project lead by well-known people may fail - no one is safe from failure, thus any investment is risky. Take a look at Bitcoin now - with its high current volatility I don`t think it can be considered as safe investment either.

They're not all scams. There are some great projects out there, but if you really want to play it safe you use the working product when it ships and stop seeing ICO's as means of making money but means of improving your life in other ways.

Only invest in things you would want to use yourself and would solve a problem that needs to be solved.

At first I look ICO website, than read whitepaper, than search information about project (marks, rating, review ect), than search information about team, mentors (who are they). If all are good I take a part in this project.

The other point is not that ICOs are scam, but that even reliable projects can fail - no one is safe from failure in the current market condition, I`m afraid.
Too bad that if an actually good project fails, people still think it was a scam.

Most of the ICO are not scams they just are overvalued and when they come out everyone it's hyperexcited and the price is good or acceptable and one year later no one cares a damn.

There are a lot of ICO's nowadays that are scams but there are still ICO's that is legit , you must identify first and make some research of the ICO you want to participated into , tge people inside the project a good whitepaper and have a good roadmap and also a good community so that there are always updates about their projects. I have been participated also in an ICO that are scams but it makes me learn a lot from that situation.

We can see a lot of failed and scam ICO's so we need to be careful on choosing ICO's and it's just like choosing good gambling website who will give bonuses and prizes whenever you play. Be wise and choosing you can't lose your money and funds. I always the website and the team and it just like picking good gambling website where you can withdraw all your money.

Thats exactly why i dont like to join ICOs,because even an ICO that seems very promising and trustful could become scam since people would do everything for money. I think there already are to many coins in the market and we dont need any more ICOs to be launched at least no so many as we see nowadays.

I agree that most ICO projects are bad investments.  Since the ICO market is generally unregulated, it just leads to a lot bad people out there looking to scam people.  There is just no way to get your money back when it is already too late.  Careful out there.

Even back then 2016, 2017 they were scam. What has really helped expose this scam ICO is the bear market. Most projects that were just after money and no working product just ended up seeing their collected funds depreciate, and they had no solution but to excite or keep promising investor to wait in hope that the market may turn out good again.

There was an article in some online magazine where I read that more than 70% of ICOs in 2017-2018 were a scam

now it is indeed difficult to determine which ICO is scam and which is not. Therefore, it is better to ask a friend before joining the ICO because if you ask to reduce the occurrence of an ICO scam

it is true that many ICOs are developing, but many are scam, it's better to play coins that are already on the market
