By 2017, 1 ETH was worth well over $1,000. If we compare that price to the current one, Ethereum is a bargain these days.

However, what's stopping Ethereum from growing in value is the downtrend of Bitcoin's price across the market. Since many altcoins are largely dependent on Bitcoin's price to succeed, it's difficult to determine their true value. Ethereum could reach price levels above $1,000 only if Bitcoin rises in price too. Otherwise, the crypto winter will greatly affect the value of Ethereum for a long time.

Nonetheless, all we could do is buy Ethereum while it's cheap to sell some within the next bull market. Just my thoughts

That's true, growth is promised with ethereum. Crypto users were much aware of it. Another thing, none have thought that the price of ethereum will fall to such a low value.
