Protecting personal data online...

Every day we share our personal data online as we transact more and more of our affairs via the internet. When we share our personal data it gets replicated on hundreds and thousands of servers throughout the globe. Most organisations are trustworthy and do their best to protect our information. Some are less than secure and some even sell our data onwards without our knowledge. Data misuse and abuse incidents are commonplace and are costing economies through the globe billions.

Most companies who have your personal data also respect the privacy of your data or at least they follow the terms and conditions you agreed to. The problem is that no-one reads those terms.

I want to see two things happen.

1. I want to be able to view and manage my global identity footprint. At any time I want to easily see who has my data, what data they have and what they are using it for. I want to be able to withdraw access to any or all recipients with the click of a button and to understand the consequences of doing so.
2. I want data usage terms and conditions to be summarised in clear, simple bullet points, independently verified to make sure they match the detailed terms and conditions. I want those bullet points to be automatically assessed against a preset list of terms I find personally acceptable, and the conclusion displayed in a single traffic light-like manner so I can make an instant, informed decision to click ‘Next’ or sign the service contract.

That would be great but this is just wishful thinking. Companies will never voluntarily participate in such global identity footprint. Unless governments force them but this will also not happen.

I think there were same projects that aims to protect the data and privacy of their users, I haven't heard more about datona which you have mentioned and this has been the very first time of hearing them to have this kind of project.

Who would want to read that long sentences and paragraphs? we're on the days that we just want to sign up and we don't really care that our data were stored and they can use it freely depending on their choice. But yes, I agree that still most of them are following the terms of use of keeping our data privately.

you said most and there was a lot of possibility our data will be stored on the untrusted service and i thought that that will become the problem. How you can protect our data when there was untrusted servers? Remember you are not controlling them directly.

Personal data online is more important data have we secure and keep protect it for long time, we hold many kinds asset there and always keep protect our data online for saving our asset is save.

I agree with your statement. We should be very careful regarding our personal information. It is true that some would misuse ans abuse their access to generate these informationa and sell it to some companies that will sell you something or worst, use your personal information to do inappropriate things. Data Privacy is important and we have to be very aware of it.

And maybe I will only believe in big platforms like whatsapp, facebook, google because I believe this platform will not violate the privacy requirements of users. But unlike the platform that I just knew or new, they usually steal user data and sell it on darkweb.

Easy, you just don't use it, your data will be safe. Facebook and Google actually never sell user data they only use your habits as a business ad on their platform, here users, Facebook and advertisers both benefit and your data remains safe.

I think we will never see the global protection of personal data. This is too difficult to implement, if the state does not force, then companies will never do it.
