Yeah I don't have easy access to my a921  and have not upgraded it at all since the posts I did here a while back.

Same here, I'm going to image an sd card and send it to my rigs location to test.

Just remote update the latest MM, and its giving me 0 hash rate. Reverted back.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Sometimes the MM and pi software won't work together, once the pi is updated the latest MM should work and display the proper hashrate. I've noticed that even if it says 0 it is still doing something, but not being able to see the hashrate can cause tracking problems.

I had 10 units connected to the pi with 20181011 image. Updating MM to 2019-03-04 caused the pi to only show 3 on each connector instead of 5 and 0 hash rate.

Will test again with new pi image when I visit them.

Hey Guys,

Can the same controller for an 841 be used for a 921 simultaneously?

From what posted at Blokforge it seems it can be used:

Controller comes with latest firmware for 821 / 841, can be easily flashed for 721 /741 or the 921...

Also, it is recommended to use up to 20 AvalonMiners 721 / 741 /821 / 841 / 921 with this unit.

Or may be it meant you need to flash it again and use it for them.

It is recommended to have a dedicated Rasp Pi for each different Avalon generation.

You can have two os cards.  But only one at a time will work.

If you have two different models you will need two rasp pis. I am running a pair of  a721 and a a921.

I have two rasp pi each with its own sd card.

On the same note can 1 controller using the latest firmware, run 5 connected miners setup with different dated MM Firmware.

Most likely no  as in my case with 2 units it was a no go and some one else could not get two or three a921's to play nice.

but I suspect  that some pairings of  different mm firmware could work together .  It would depend on how the  changes in a different pair work together.

Zero proof on that guess.

Two cases that separate MM firmware did not work together

I wonder if the best way to try it would be with 4 chains separated by the MM firmware but you'll need more AUC3's and with five units on one controller would have to likely have two on one chain.

I just checked my A921 MM versions and noticed I have a mix of 9211809-b4b3d00 and 9211809-b150820 on each RPi.

Any suggestions which is better? And is it better to upgrade them and use same MM on each RPi?

Okay burned out my Cooling fan. Apparently its a 2+2 pin type and not the typical pwm-4pin one for most miners. Anyone know who sells these besides Alibaba.
Any of the distributors carry cooling fans for the A921?

Check Canaan's website for the distributor closest to you and get one from them. Make sure they know you want a fan for the 921 as most sites only list the A6-8 series fans.

 The 921 uses a 140mm fan - not a 120mm one like the A6/7/8's, & s9's etc use.
Just looked at one of my idle ones and it is an AVC model DBPC1438B2H  takes 12v @ 4.6A

Hmm. Seems someone has a youtube vid on how to repair similar ones so maybe give it a try? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQkaGyoDWBQ

I just updated my A921 controller units with the nicehash firmware and latest MM, it's really good.

No more rejected shares at all.
