Hydroponica was from the good old days of crypto-mania, when you could make more profit mining bitcoin off a graphics card than litecoin or any of the new litecoin clones. It was a time before ASIC farms and when Silk Road was still online. It was a time when you could go to the Newbie section and find out about the latest ready to insta-mine clones before the rest of the real members. Hydroponica was a mean, yet humorous fellow, who hated some of those new coins, then made two of them on his own: Mastercoin and GIL. Mastercoin is still traded at Cryptsy, but is not the other newer Mastercoin.
