As you all know that 90% of ICOs this year was a totally loss. most of all the tokens that hit the market are trading below price. some of catastrophic. some are trading below 90% to 95% of their list price. Majority of ICOs this days have has decided to run token sales on Exchanges. as the year comes to an End, Could there be another means of raising fund for tokens come 2019.?

it looks like the strategy is changing. New projects are moving to exchanges to know if they can convince investors that they are real. lots of project has come and gone. fear of the Unknown. we are hoping a brighter future in the crypto world. we don't Know where we are heading to.

We, old crypto habitants, know that and simply stop investing in ICOs. Thats why its so hard for them to get softcup. Todays Icos arent worst than 2017 ICOs, there is simply no money avaible for them because amount of invesotrs willing to invest in ICO is shrinking every day. Today even good ICO cant get enought money and hype to exist. Yep, crypto ICOs very often need hype. Like Steem. Without hype it wont have users posting new posts/videos. Without good content it wont have users willing to spend there free time. With small amount of users noone will invest in it. If noone will invest in it creators won't be able to sell their revenue earned in steem. Without good revenue for creators there wont be good content. Circle closed. Thats why if steem was starting its ICO today it won't survive that long.

Will that change?
We need new investors with new money willing to take huge risk. That will be avaible only during next bull run ended with bigger bubble. When bitcoin will get to new ATH, ICOs will become profitable again.

Yes, the crypto market was totally mess this year and alot of new project which seems to be promising are now sell below there ICOs price which is why some of the new project implement the token sales on exchange as a strategy to convince crypto investors about the utilities, community support and legality of their project. However, there are another means/strategy which new project use to raise fund and I believe crypto challenge was one of them.

Its seems that this coming 2019 there will be a new ICO's that the all people who have cryptocurrencies will get benefit. Even we see many failing ICO in this year it is not the end of ICO's so I hope this coming 2019 there will be new and many succeed ICO.

I see ico focusing on tangible and useful products. it looks like the team doesn't care about prices and focuses on their platform in the long run.

With the dominance of bearish market throughout the year, it's not that easy nowadays to convince a certain investor to put some funds on ICO because of an obvious reason that it might not become profitable in the long run. Last year, we all witnessed how hype and trending crypto market is that's why even those without any knowledge about crypto put some money on bitcoin, including on ICO's. Those people who put some money on ICO's disregards roadmaps, future developments and plan of that certain project because they only want to achieved is profit within a short period of time.

And the result? Disappointment and regret.

Time will tell if ICO industry will become bloom again.

I don't think ICOs will disappear or be replaced but I also feel they're not the best form of raising capital. Over time we might see a lot more scaled ICOs were clearly defined pre-ICOs and ICOs. Investors should be demanding more before the invest such huge amounts of money given how poorly most have performed.

I would say that even it had a very good year there are more ICOs came about last year than this year as many have been seen with the same idea. So I think like the general rule or notion of many financial experts, only about 10% of startup or new business thrive the market well. So whether that project had a blast in the sale period, it could also plummet in the exchange like most this year.

I think it's important that ICOs aren't only about getting profit as soon as possible, it's supporting the company by funding them with your investment and hold on for a while. If nobody invests anymore, there will be no token. You can always buy more after it hits the exchanges for lower.

I have seen a few ICOs stopped selling until the market recovers and it looks better solution for now. Even there are those who have reached the hardcap are traded 50 times cheaper than the ICO price and bounty is still not distributed. If you work for the future of the project not for money it is better to wait.

this is because it does not have a great practical use in real life or because it does not have great partnerships with companies of the real world, many people are saying that the fault is of the bear market, but if each ICO and altcoin had a great use in the world real then we would not be in this situation

Behind most of them were useless products with 0 real life use cases, the sooner they are gone, the sooner companies will realize they need to build real products, the sooner prices will start to moon again. Without real world adoption, all this is useless.

I agree that those without real life usage will die a natural death. But then again, there are gullible traders who just blindly trust and invest on a certain project without proper research and then bitch around when they have been scammed. So I think it will continue, unless something like regulations to stop scam project popping up like mushrooms.

I still believe that majority of the ICO investors are feeling the old trend where they will witness a price increase once traded.
Nowadays, it's hard to achieve that, if the team decide to get listed, they'll pay for the trading free, plus the price would sink during the first day of trading.

That's a double whammy, they'll be dead before they start attracting traders and new investors.

The reason where the scam ICO keeps popping up is that it's still profitable for scammers to gain, and how easily the user tricked to invest in their project. I don't think regulation would be the solution since the nature of cryptocurrencies is an open source project, everyone can do anything about it, and its the community who decide about it.

those who set up ICO projects did not expect that the market went down strongly. But for good ICO projects, they had to transfer BTC and ETH through a stablecoin to keep the money that investors sent. otherwise, we will definitely lose. This is also the best way to make the investment fund the safest.

LOL. Are you sure about that? Most ICO has no real life usage that's why they failed miserably. I don't think it will change in 2019, more scammy projects will come into picture and no matter how we tell and give warnings to (newbie) investors, they will still continue to pour their hard earn cash, sad to say.

Why would they change their method if it is effective? So I don't think that there will be changes on how they raised funds, as long as it is profitable to them, those scammers will continue what they're doing.

yes it's true now there are so many ico projects that cost far less than the price of ico sale. I think that because the crypto situation is now bad, the price of bitcoin and etherum is down which is the cause of the ico token far below the price of ico sale

The best ways to still rise money for projects still remains through icos and any other way might not work for now.  I believe that bank will not want to fund any projects base on what is happening in the market.  Traders are even avoiding buying and selling some of the coins.  Moreso,  governments or financial institutions will never want to put money in cryptocurrencies market and icos for now.
