Yes gold mining decreases every year. It is harder and harder to find gold now. Eventually we will asteroid mine it, but that won't be feasable or cost effective for decades.

I'm not sure that's true.

our calculations point towards gold production peaking at some point between 2022 and 2025

There have only been a few short periods in history where production has declined.

However, we are certainly approaching a period where gold extraction is going to sharply decrease irreversibly for the first time.

at current rates of extraction... known gold reserves worldwide would be depleted in about 17 years.

Windows 10 actual geforce driver 4 GB ram 24 GB virtal memory

Seems a bit low on RAM. I would try bumping virtual memory to 40-50GB, disconnecting half of the GPUs, and then re-adding them one at time.

Indeed, you're fighting the minimum ram requirements.  If increasing the paging file size doesn't fix it, you could try switching to an older version of windows, switch to linux, or wait for them to reduce the ram requirements on the miner.

Nvidia 6GB cards and AMD 8GB cards supported. 6GB cards in Windows10 may not work as WIndows steals some of the memory.

gold mining may decrease or increase but unlike GRIN we know that it will decrease..

since there are many unexplored areas and still undiscovered technologies for gold mining, we don't know if we are sitting on top of undiscovered vast deposits of gold that will turn your gold investments into copper valuation, remember aluminium was once a precious metal.

I, and the quote above were talking about the GPU on board memory.  You could definitely try adding more system memory, but I don't suspect that is the issue.  I think your setup would likely work as-is if you were using Linux, and possibly an older version of Windows.  I also think if you wait a bit and mine something else, the issue will get resolved with a future miner software update.

Certainly worth a try but more importantly increase the swap file to 40-50GB. On my test setup mining with two cards used ~16GB of swap but only about 3GB of physical RAM so don't be shy with virtual memory.

They're using 1070s so that's 8GB GDDR5 on the card, and it shouldn't have problems with Windows 10.

That's great. So gold is more inflationary than either bitcoin or grin (in the long run) yet it holds it's own just fine. Very cool data. +merit

Is that what brought you back to the forum just now, or is it coincidence?
I came back because I'm interested in grin and was looking for a place to talk to people about it. There is grin-forum but I know everyone here and its more fun here. What might my return be coincidental with, in theory, if you don't mind my asking?

And did you go on hiatus because of the get-rich-quickism?
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking or implying. I went on hiatus because crypto got less interesting when the price was crashing and no new projects were coming out that were catching my interest. Also without the price skyrocketing I found that I kinda needed a real job, so I've been building a real world business. What do you mean by "And did you go on hiatus because of the get-rich-quickism?"?

Nothing sinister implied here. The difference is very mild - 'came back because grin' or 'came back and oh look there's grin'. I wanted to know if you took a break because we were going on about getting rich too much for your liking, and your answers have made it clear that's not the case at all. Best of luck with the business.

What is the most cost effective card to use mining GRIN? What is the best option Nvidia or AMD?

Also please state your hashing power per card.

Thank you in advance.

Where can I download grin wallet? I tried to check their website and the first page of this thread it seems I can't see the wallet.

Can you recommend a wallet online or desktop wallet?

It seems it won't work I tried searching in google or even here I can't find any post that 6gb works in grin miner.

Most of the miner is above 7gb that works to mine grin based on what I heard from others.

However, there are some newbie posting that there is a mining OS that you can mine grin with 6gb GPUs or below. Not tested yet but I don't trust newbie about the OS he offer.

You can mine with linux and windows. Go to the OP and join the discord has more information on mining. Price is not holding up maybe buy it at the exchange is a better option.
I checked, and you were right.
With current situation, it is better to buy the Grin coin directly from exchanges, rather than try mining it.
Mining party is very competitive now.

Yes it does. You may need Windows 7 or Linux though. There used to be some issues with Windows 10 and 6GB cards.

Doesn't ETH also have infinite supply though? Roll Eyes
And the emission might be considered low... well... I can't judge it yet since the price and the interest on the project fluctuates wildly.

I'm not saying I disagree with your points, I'm only saying that we can't draw any conclusions yet... whether the supply and emission policies are correct or wrong.
