is there anyway to get my bitcoins back?

So i bought some bitcoins on 2014 and i had them on my multibit wallet. I had sent the "wallet" to my email but im not sure if i did it correctly back then. So now i have a wallet file in my email but when i open it with the multibit classic it says there is no money in there. I also dont remember my "keywords". So i was just wondering if there is any way i could get my bitcoins back?

Why didn't you save the private key instead? I've never used multibit personally, so I don't really have much knowledge about it. If you had saved the private key of your wallet, it wouldn't have been a problem since it could have been inserted in any wallet supporting private key insertions and you would have you old wallet back with the balance in it (if not stolen, which is very rare to happen).

Hmm. Are you sure that multibit classic wallet is connecting correctly?

Do you have any of the backups listed here, https://multibit.org/help/v0.5/help_fileDescriptions.html ?

Also, i must say that i am really not that familiar with Multibit, but when you open your wallet, you say the totalling balance is 0, correct?

Are you able to see your adress/corresponding private keys? Since Multibit Classic is no longer supported, it might be smart to try and export those into Bitcoin Core/Electrum?

Or, alteratively, follow this article; https://multibit.org/help/v0.5/help_movingAWallet.html (although i do not recommend webwallets for long-term storage!)

Or before you do so, check the balances from the top adresses in a blockexplorer such as https://blockchair.com/ ?

Do you have the receive address? May be you can check wallet address with bitcoin block explorer first,
see if there are any transaction confirm with the address.
You need to have password to access your  MultiBit Classic bitcoin.
Think about where you might have put a copy of the password, maybe you wrote it down and put it in a book.

I just noticed that the wallet address is not the same as the address where i have the bitcoins in   So when i opened the .wallet file with the multibit classic it first took like 4 hours for it to synchronize the file and when it was ready the address was not right and it said that the balance is 0. I have the receiving address and i checked from bitcoin block explorer that there is bitcoins in it. I guess i have somehow sent myself some wrong file then? It was five years ago so its quite impossible to find the passwords anymore since i dont even have the same computer anymore

Oh yeah and i also opened the .wallet file with notepad and all it said was

So when you opened the wallet, it says that there are zero bitcoin in it?

Please check the address with the bitcoins on a block explorer (e.g. https://www.blockchain.com/explorer) to confirm if your funds are actually moved out by someone, or maybe it's just that you're opening a different wallet and not the wallet with your actual bitcoins in it.

One very important rule is to always protect and remember your private key you never can predict the future. am not really sure if you can get it back

If you have the file on your email, there's also a possibility that you had kept your recovery words on your 'drafts' or any file folder with your email.

Is there an option with multibit to see all the addresses you have used?

So first, there are several versions of multibit wallets, which version are you using now? classic or HD? (in About option, Help on Linux/Win or Multibit on MACs)

Do you know if wallet version from your OLD original wallet? there are several versions like protobuf,serialised and HD

Are you using MAC, LINUX or WINDOWS?

If your transaction is confirmed, you can reset the wallet by:

    Click on the wallet in the 'Wallets' side panel to make it the active wallet.
    Go into the 'Tools | Reset Block chain and Transactions' menu option.
    Click on the 'Reset block chain and transactions' button and let MultiBit Classic sync the block chain. Just leave MultiBit Classic to work its way through the sync.

You should then see the transaction in your wallet.

If not, I would send an email to their support at support@multibit.org

I agree that if the key (12-phrase) is lost, then the assets will be lost. Because the key is our way to get back the assets we have. As far as I know there is no way to restore the assets of the wallet that lost the key.

I wish upon a star ⭐️ that this would be possible but unfortunately when Satoshi wrote the BTC code, he did so with every intention of making transactions irreversbale.  By doing so, each and every transaction remains permanently on the blockchain for 100% transparency.

Nope, a bitcoin transaction which has already been included in a block on the longest chain cannot be reversed. This is by design as Bitcoin is intended to behave much like cash, with recipients being assured that the money is now permanently in their possession after a transaction has been included in a block.
