There is a rumour about hard fork of ETH and the volume in the trading of ETH is aggressively growing .Prices are showing strength .Is it an opportunity to buy on rumour and sell on the news to book profit.
I get your point, when ever a rumor spread there is slight chance that a price of a coin will surely increase and many people race to buy that coin. And with some good news spread about the coins it will increase even more that could also able to trigger a bull run. |

Everything depends on what rumors or news are about Not really, sometimes there are times when Whales pump excuses. so we can't be too fixated on rumors and news. so always pay attention to the chart if it looks like it's going to go up, then buy it. Whales demands and it's up to traders and investors to ride with it, if you know how to read the chart and you already have a nice experience with how the whales works, this news and rumors can be a good guide for you as most the time whales will go against the directions and bring the trend to the other side, not as always but you need to be more careful and assess things before going to invest. |

This is the strategy that most traders and investors use. Although, it might sometimes fail,. depending on the project you are dealing with. I use it for projects hat i trust and nit just any. If you are going to be using this method, it is very useful when the rumour is very fresh and the same thing with the news when you want to sell, but most importantly the former. Which is why you would need to do continuous and proper followup. |

It depends on the news, I saw Ethereum rise to about 150 dollars simply because of the Constantinople hardfork, and it dropped back to about 100 dollars when the fork was said to have been postponed. |

The market is always unpredictable but as a trader we should follow that principle, if you can follow that properly, it will make your profitable. It's not being greedy and will make you stay with your strategy, buying in rumor and sell the news is a saying for short term traders since most of the time, when there is a good rumor, the price will pump and will dump after a news. |

I think news is more dangerous than the rumour because news is controled by groups by an organized way and lead everyone to go follow by their way News that was published affects the market, and you are right it's been controlled by big whales club who really dictates the directions of the industry, its hard to for little traders/investors like us to really read what's between their minds and how to anticipate correct movements to happen, whales have it's own way, they created rumors and if that shake the market they will published news making things to go whatever the trend they like. |
