Intro
Ascension is a new marketplace for tokens. Tokens will be based on real-world processes, such as the career projectories of people like Elon Musk, and the prospects of both commercial and non-commercial projects, such as the new LOTR TV show.
Like crypto-kitties, the "Elon Musk"-token and the "Yosemite Park"-token derives value primarily from its scarcity. Tokens are minted using a variation on the TBC (token-bonded curve) model. This means that prices for tokens are set algorithmically by smart contracts, and trading can proceed at all times without a counter-party, independent of the number of market participants at a given point in time. The price goes up as more people buy, and down if people sell.
To maintain scarcity, Ascension will form the first member of a network of marketplaces which all agree that all "Elon Musk"-tokens are worth the same, no matter which blockchain they originate in. This is called the SEMANTIC TOKEN INTERCHANGE COMPACT. Any marketplace that refuses to join the compact, or a similar large scarcity-preserving alliance, will likely be disadvantaged in the future. This is how we believe there will soon be scarcity-based investments for all imaginable real-world phenomena, from people to movies to national monuments.
