Electrum: the convenience of a web wallet, without the risks
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Hey TomasV,

great interview on the LTB network.  Can Electrum Server be made to work with regnet and testnet and have my electrum client connect to them?

It is not to impress a girl, but for development.  Honest!

I take back what i wrote. It was my fault. No problem with the password. Sorry... Smiley

Though there is a problem at starting my portable version on win 7 pro 64bit. It says Runtime Error! for the exe. The R6034 and that it couldne load a C runtime library correctly. When i click that away then its still working it seems.

Edit 2: Another thing is that its not possible anymore to use zero fees. I have zero in my settings but when i enable the option to set it manually while sending then i cant enter the full amount. When i do it then the amount turns red. Or is that the absolute minimum that is needed because the network wont accept it anyway otherwise? I had no big transactions so i dont know if thats the case.

Edit 3: What is this GreenAddress about? Its a widely used term and i dont see a change when having it checked.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

I am having issues with my trezor wallet. Whenever I use it trezor with electrum it defaults into watch only mode. It can't see the trezor. In 2.0b2 it worked flawlessly in 2.0.3 it doesn't work at all. I can't even create a new trezor wallet.

I am on mac 10.10.

Edit 3: What is this GreenAddress about? Its a widely used term and i dont see a change when having it checked.

GreenAddress.it (practically no relation to the "green address" term you may have seen elsewhere) is a multisig wallet provider. They have an option for their 2-of-2 wallets (which is their default wallet type) that you can enable when sending transactions called "instant confirmation". If you choose to enable it when you send a transaction from your GreenAddress wallet to someone else (the recipient doesn't need to be a GreenAddress wallet), then that transaction is added to a publicly-queryable database which they maintain.

The Electrum GreenAddress plugin allows you to query GreenAddress to see if a given transaction has been flagged as "instant". Keep in mind that it's a 2-of-2 wallet, and that GreenAddress exclusively controls one of the two keys. GreenAddress publicly agrees to never sign a double-spend transaction if the user chooses the "instant confirmation" option. As long as you trust GreenAddress to stand by that policy, you don't need to trust individual users. This provides a certain amount of assurance that an "instant" transaction cannot be double-spent (as long as you trust GreenAddress).

I'd also like to know if this is the case. I'm looking to use Electrum with my Trezor to be able to send my old, larger amounts without a fee. Is this possible?

Yes, that's the other "green address" I alluded to; it was a bad idea and isn't related to GreenAddress.it or the Electrum plugin.

Thank you for the explaination. The first thing i thought of reading green address was the green address at mtgox. I believe that was even another thing.

Green address at MtGox was the same thing that MZ linked to (what a surprise that MtGox chose to implement something that was a bad idea.... Roll Eyes)

Either python? is too slow or the code for python is not optimized.

something has to be optimized and I am working on it.

I hope theres a solution soon since now i wait for my wallet to let me do something, my notebook is working hard, though the process only is using 13% of my 8 cores. The problem is... i got some bitcoins and i cant get them out anymore because electrum is working all the time, showing me a blank window. Ill try creating a new wallet with the brain sentence. Maybe a fresh wallet is a bit faster so that i can get my funds out at least?

Edit: It seems thats a workaround for now.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

I finished that optimization. It is already on github, and will ship with version 2.1.

Great news. Smiley

Ill let you know how it works once i can test it. A fast electrum really would be a help.

Electrum on Windows with Trezor gives the following error when using a separate password from the one used during setup: "This wallet does not match your Trezor device"

Is there any way to use multiple passwords with the Trezor and Electrum?

Is there a way to password protect a Trezor watch-only wallet in Electrum? I like having the watch-only capability when my Trezor is elsewhere, but I still don't want people to be able to just open up Electrum and see my transactions and balance.

sounds unrealistic. What failure would have caused this?
