I usually see people do the same mistake, it is a very common problem and recently two members on the forum had almost the same issue.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2894131.msg49101975#msg49101975
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5087511.msg48782450#msg48782450

this is mainly a networking related problem, lack of knowledge about simple routing causes your miners to disappear and you can't access them by any means, in some cases they might show after a reset and in some cases they will never show. and here is why.

1- You must understand that all "brand new asics" come with a DHCP option, that means if your router is not capable of giving ip address then the miner will never connect.

so if your router does not a DHCP then you need to use a different router that has DHCP function either:

a: permanently, and that will fix the problem " some issues might happen, check point no 2"
b: temporary to give static IPs to your miner/miners by doing the following
 - by using a computer that is already connected to your "old router"
-hit the windows keys on your keyboard
-type in 'cmd' and hit enter
 -type the following

Code:
ipconfig

- hit enter

look for something like this

-save these information
-switch the router with the new router
-plug the miner to the network
-find it's ip by using an IP Scanner software ( there are many free and available online)
-access your antminer via web browser
-go to network setting
-change DHCP to static
-enter the exact details you got from the ipconfg except for the Ip address, you just need to add 1 to whatever you got on your pc

in my case it was 192.168.1.172 so on the miner i would use 192.168.1.173

everything else remained the same, for the last box on your miner page it says "DNS" you would type your gateway there.

so for my case it will be

IP address:192.168.1.173
Netmask:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.1.1
DNS server:192.168.1.1

-hit save
-use back your old miner * make sure only the miner and your PC is connected to the router
-access the miner throught the IP you gave it , which in my case is > 192.168.1.173

2- if your router supports DHCP which is most likely and you still can't find your miner on the network this could be due to one of these reasons

a- your router has a limited "spots" and they all are taken by your other devices " mobile phones, laptops, other miners"

to fix this you need to login to your router and increase the DHCP range or simply turn off one of the already connected devices, off and on both your miner ad the router ( router first) and then your miner will show up.

b- you gave your miner a static IP address that is in the DHCP range, so for example ,your mobile phone  was on before your miner was and it took that ip address let's say mine >192.168.1.173 > , the miner came online, trying to use it's ip address to connect but the router is not letting it because the mobile phone is already using it.

so always ensure that your static ip is outside of the dhcp range.

if you are using a subnet of "255.255.255.0" then you have 254 usable address. so the best/easiest way to set up your router would be this

DHCP table range  > 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150
Miner static Ips anything from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.99 and/or  192.168.1.151 to 192.168.1.254

* the majority of second hand miners comes with static ip that might have a different gateway from yours and there is no way for you to access it unless you re-set it, it will go back to dhcp protocol, only then it will show on your miner.

if you have any questions , feel free to ask.

Thanks this is very good.  I resolved my issue by finding the IP w/phone net scanner.  IP was a 172.x vs normal 192.x.   Logged in with 172.x address and then setup static IP address 192.x.  I could not discover the IP address using my computer.  Router is R7000 has DHCP and normally works good.

I have some notes to add if you don't mind:

-find it's ip by using an IP Scanner software ( there are many free and available online)

You can also get the devices IP from your router's web interface or by using the ARP command:

Code:
arp -a

It will give you all details about connected devices like ip and MAC address.

-enter the exact details you got from the ipconfg except for the Ip address, you just need to add 1 to whatever you got on your pc

You have to make sure to chose an address that isn't allready taken. If you allocate the same IP to two different devices you will face an IP conflict.

yes of course you can,but when somebody is facing such a problem, it usually means they probably don't even know the ip address for their router, that's why i suggest using some ip scanner to make things easier, but if someone has that knowledge then of course your suggestion is perfect, no need for a 3rd party software to find ips on your LAN.

You have to make sure to chose an address that isn't allready taken. If you allocate the same IP to two different devices you will face an IP conflict.

again you don't expect someone who is facing such a problem to know what IP is used by what device, that's why i stated there

* make sure only the miner and your PC is connected to the router

this is pretty much the safest method,

since only the PC and the miner are on, and the miner's ip is the pc's ip + 1 then there will never be a conflict, at least for a short period of time till you get your setting straight.

Some miners ship with a default static IP. For those, you need to know what the static IP is. If static IP is on a different subnet, you need to change your PC's IP to be on the same subnet as miner in order to access it and then enable DHCP or set a static IP for miner on same subnet as your network. If you try to do an IP scan and it's on a different subnet than the computer you are scanning from, it will never show up in scan results. Static IP is usually mentioned in manual. Scanning to find the IP will only work if it's on the same subnet.

My router has DHCP but i dont have access to my router to set a new DHCP range.
What should i do?

I think it has the subnetmask 255.255.255.0 because when i start the AngryIPScanner it automatically Scans from 0 to 255.

It is using 3 Hosts. The Router one with ending .1 mine with ending .28 and the last one ending .29

I dont know what exactly to do. This step is a bit unclear for me.

The IP Scanner doesnt recognize my phone at all but the Internet of it works.

When i look at whatsmyip i see it has a different number than on the scanner.

EDIT: I tried to run the scanner on the static ip netmask from 0 to 255 and i found a big amount of alive hosts. but i still got Problems with Setting a new ip adress for the miner. when i look at my my ip at whatsmyip i see that it is the router ip. also when i check it on my phone it gives me the same ip adress

Im totally confused about this and dont know what excactly to do

Why you use whatsmyip to check your local IP. Don't use the IP that shows in whatsmyip because they are totally different because it's a public IP it is used across the entire Internet. You need to target is the local IP that starts from 192.168.x.x.

Let me ask if what are you trying to achieve here? The method above is to find the gateway ip where you can access the router dashboard.

Are you using mobile as your source of internet for your miner? If you follow the above method you never access the mobile because it is not a router you use it as your modem to get internet.

This is the router's look like below.

What i want is to gain access to my miner. the problem i have is that it doesnt have any ip configuration and i also dont have any imaginations how the adress should look like and in which range. I took a look at ipconfig and my local ipv4 adress is 172.16.x.x. but im not sure about that if its the local one.

Nono, i thought putting the mobile off would solve the problem. I try to gain acess with my Computer.

Edit: I looked in this ip range and i found 4 devices. its my 2 PCs my telephone and the router ip.

first thing, forget about the IP you see on whatsmyip , for the sake of solving of this problem let's say it's not important at all.

that 172.16.x.x is your private local up, and you should search from 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 and your subnet mask should be (255.240.0.0)

so make sure when using Angry IP Scanner you set the range from 172.16.0.0  to 172.31.255.255  , these are all the possible ip address that your router will be able to provide.

if your miner does not show then here are the possible issues and how to solve them.

1- DHCP table is full already  > you need to shut down one of your devices to give that spot to the miner
2- Your miner has a static ip address which does not fit into your router setting > hard-reset the miner to become DHCP
3- your network wire is faulty > try another one

also have you tried admin / admin for both password and username on the router interface?

okay i have acknowledged it with the ip 5.X.X.X.X.

to point 1. i had one issue when turn on my smartphone and advancedipscvanner it says that its online, but when i turn the miner on the advancedipscanner is kinda reacting to that ip adress. it appears to be offline and sometimes just the ip shows up even though i have named the Connection to "Smartphone" before. i have looked all over Google to Change that Android ip adress but i dont know how to change that adress.

to point 2. the miner itself has dhcp and when i look over ipconfig /all it says that dhcp is activated, but it still gives me the same ip adress which is called 169.254.157.47. i tried to use these two buttons on the miner which are called "reset" and "ipset"

EDIT: I found out on google that this ip 169.254.X.X is a most common ip when there is no ip configuration, so i think this is a main point why it doesnt work. a Internet site also mentioned that i have to check if dhcp is active (is active) or the point you spoke about if the dhcp has free ips to give away. Maybe the Smartphone is Blocking it but i dont know how to delete this ip. when i turn the device of the ip is still in the scanner so i think its still blocking it.

there is also no standard gateway and the miner doesnt send any packages back as unidentified Network.
i have connected the miner via ethernet cable to my pc. i dont know if its okay to connect it like that or directly to the router. i dont have direct access to it.

https://www.bilder-upload.eu/bild-eb6a99-1552909913.png.html

to point 3. i will buy a new ethernet cable today but first i need to know if its okay to connect the miner to the pc.
i also tried to use admin admin but it didnt worked.

it seems like there are limited address that your router has, so they miner and the phone are conflicting , you can simply change the phone ip address to static address to eliminate this issue. follow these steps

1- go to your wireless setting

2- hold-tab on your network, and chose "manage network settings"

3- tab on "show advanced options"

4- change "IP settings" from DHCP to static

5- input these details , make sure you follow these inputs EXACTLY.

** these settings are only valid for your current router network set-up they won't work with any other setting.

to point 2. the miner itself has dhcp and when i look over ipconfig /all it says that dhcp is activated, but it still gives me the same ip adress which is called 169.254.157.47. i tried to use these two buttons on the miner which are called "reset" and "ipset"

i have connected the miner via ethernet cable to my pc. i dont know if its okay to connect it like that or directly to the router. i dont have direct access to it.

https://www.bilder-upload.eu/bild-eb6a99-1552909913.png.html

I think you get these results when you connect your miner directly to the pc , this is normal, the miner needs a dhcp server to give it an ip address which your pc can NOT do, so there is no point doing this.

there is a work around to for this, but it's not important now, do as i explained first, make sure your phone is not causing the problem, and then if it still fails to connect to the router, i will tell you how to connect it to your pc directly.

edit:  i  forgot to mention that the 169.x.x.x you think your miner got is not a real working IP , it's something that windows "MS" gives to any client that connects to a windows machine and fails to have a proper " working IP" , so in simple words , windows is telling you this

" ok i do see a device on the other side of the cable, but i can't communicate with it"

still i think you need access to that router, you going to face some issues along the way and you will always need to have access to that router, you can't be running things under a router that you don't own / have full control of , you need at least the permission of that network administrator and he/she should provide you with the basic info you need, if that router is YOURS then you should it reset  to have full access.

ok, then try to connect  the miner directly to your pc, but first enable ICS,  here is a simple guide for it > https://www.dummies.com/computers/operating-systems/windows-7/how-to-share-an-internet-connection-in-windows-7/

this will allow your windows pc to act as dhcp server, it should give your miner an ip address and you will be able to access it.

after you have enabled ICS and connected your miner, open cmd and type this

Code:
arp -a

it will list connected devices .

edit: power off the miner, and then power it on, sometimes if it fails to get an ip address after starting up, it will just hang.

this is what i did

and this is what i got

Cry

Edit: Step 6 is a bit unclear for me.

"Before they can start using your shared connection, users on your network need to configure their TCP/IP settings so that they get an IP connection automatically."

Should i  also switch the ethernet connection to tcp/ip? I just made the checkmarks.

There is no need to do anything else aside from the enabling the sharing as in the guide, the message you got tells you to make sure that your machine has a dhcp/auto ip settings. Which am starting to doubt.

Can you disconnect the miner , do another arp -a command while miner disconnected and post screenshot?

We made a Progress!
im now getting packages back and i got a new ip which is now called 192.168.137.1

the mistake i made was Setting the homenetwork to Ethernet 2 now i have set it to Ethernet 1 and it seems that the miner is online.
but i still got the Problem that i dont know how to acess the site. when i type in the ip it doesnt work.

Edit: Sorry the ip is still the same i dont know how it got this ip it was on tcp/ip i now switched it to dhcp again.
but its good that the miner is giving a live sign

one moment i will post the specs here

Did you ever find your miners IP or find a solution? Im having the exact same issue with one of my Dragonmint T1's as well. Can't find the IP anywhere when scanning my network. I actually had this issue with another T1 first. It dropped offline today so I went to my farm to see why and couldn't find the IP address when scanning the network. I tried some basic troubleshooting and figured it could be a bad control board. I had a spare Dragonmint with a few bad hash boards that I use for parts so I swapped out the control board from that. My network must have assigned a new IP and I was able to log in and get that one set up. However, literally like a minute later I had another Dragonmint T1 drop offline with the same issue.  Huh I could no longer log in to the miner with the IP that it previously had. I did a reset and scanned the network multiple times and have been unable to find it.

I haven't had a chance to run through any of these possible solutions for finding it. I don't have the patience for it tonight but Im wondering if it is maybe my router not having enough IP addresses allotted to assign. I have a pretty large farm at the moment and I just added a few more miners the past couple of days so maybe that is the issue.

your DHCP server have limited address, the subnet mask you use "limits" the numbers of ip address available both on DHCP and off DHCP , also the more devices connect to a router the more likely you some similar problems, no all routers are meant to handle whatever they are supposed to.

so without full details on your network setup, router brand, subnet mask, dhcp range, number of miners etc,, it will be hard to troubleshoot like that.

go through the topic and comments, see if your problem/s are solved by applying one of the methods, if not , then provide full details on your problem and i will do my best to assist you.

Hey there!

Im a mining noob and having a lot of trouble pulling up my bitcoin miner dashboard via IP address.

I have a B11 Bolon Miner that is plugged in, connected to internet via ethernet cable and ready to go.

I located the IP HOWEVER when entering into my browser I get the following error.

?The plugin does not support this browser.

Please use the following browser:
1. internet explorer 8 and above
2. firefox 51 and below
3. google chrome 44 or lower?

You would think its pretty self explanatory however it is very difficult to download older browser versions. I would have to go back to windows 7 in order to do this. Have you seen this error or know any way for me to resolve? I just want to get into my miner dash to link my wallet and check hashrate etc and im going crazy Sad
