Maybe you have seen a Bitcoin address where the first letters are a word, similar like this: 1 fudCz15sHGR8L2YQnaG4JVMjMQpaDo37 1 BTCTUnYLskK7N9nXb17wf6oVYMYrX5WHG 1 DogemNVw8AZnMf3cB4L1wijGnr9DVKzia 1 Fomo7V86nWrjdv6JzU7yavtp5hfzZWsZr 1 NewbornSeatQVC9vegVHnxVseNAhhxewb (1)Such addresses are vanity addresses and theoretically, it’s possible to generate every word with a few exceptions, but the number of the selected letters is limited. The reason is because you can use a tool and generate as many addresses as you like until you have found one with the desired combination of letters. The longer your prefix, the less likely a quick hit. Upper case letters are more likely to find than lower case letters. For example, the prefix 1Bitmover would take 2 months for 50% chance. The lower case 1bitmover is 58 times less likely. (2)A few letters are excluded, because these are generally not part of Bitcoin addresses to avoid possible confusions: l (letter lower L) I (letter upper I) O (letter upper O) 0 (number 0) as well as all umlauts There are several ways to generate a unique Bitcoin address. However, I recommend using the official version with vanitygen, uploaded by samr7 on Github. There are other ways offered on websites to create a vanity address, but I don’t recommend creating such an address on a website. If you create your address by a third party (the website), there is a possibility that someone can get access to your private keys. There have been problems in the past where bitcoins were stolen from such vanity addresses created on websites because if someone knows your private key he has a chance to steal your Bitcoins from your wallet. Therefore, please make sure to use the original version, which can be found on Github and you can run it without internet connection. Every website offering a service to create a vanity addresses without split key is dangerous.
That's how it works: 1. Download vanitygen:First you have to go to Github and download the original files from samr7, you can follow this link: https://github.com/samr7/vanitygenYou can download the latest version: vanitygen-0.22-win.zip The latest version is available here: https://github.com/downloads/samr7/vanitygen/vanitygen-0.22-win.zip 2. Turn off internet connection while generating your Bitcoin addressIt’s also possible to create a vanity address when your internet connection is active, but for security reasons no internet connection is recommended. It would be even safer if you run the program on a computer that was never connected to the internet, but you can decide for yourself which security level is sufficient. It's always recommend to prefer high security standards to avoid any problems resulted by hacks because it's always possible that your device is compromised. If you want maximal security you can generate your vanity address via split-key. 3. Open the Command Prompt / PowerShellYou can start the Command Prompt by a right-click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen and select Command Prompt (Administrator) or simply using the key combination Windows + R orif you do it like that you can skip #4 if you open the Command Prompt directly from where your vanity files are stored: 1. Go to the folder where vanitygen/oclvanitygen is stored. 2. Using Command Prompt: Press CTRL+SHIFT+Right Click on an empty space within the folder (not on the executable/files), click "Open command window here". Now the Command Prompt opens. [1]2. Using Power Shell: Press SHIFT+Right Click on an empty space within the folder (not on the executable/files), click "Open PowerShell window here". Now PowerShell (Command Prompt) opens. [2]3. You can start directly to enter the details you want, like described in step 5. (source: nc50lc [1], nc50lc [2]) 4. Enter pathsThis will open the Command Prompt window and start settings for the bitcoin address generation process. The paths depend on where you have stored your vanitygen files. I have saved these on C:\ in the folder BTC, subfolder vgen. I have to enter the following code to find the vanitygen.exe file: C:\WINDOWS\system32>cd/ C:\ >cd/ BTC/ vgenC:\ BTC\ vgen> vanitygen.exeFolder BTCSubfolder vgenFile name vanitygen.exeYou can try vanitygen.exe or use the file oclvanitygen.exe, it’s up to you which one you prefer. The difference between them is that vanitygen is CPU-based and oclvanitygen GPU-based. For our 4-digit combination, don’t matter if case-sensitive or case-insensitive, vanitygen is sufficient on a normal PC, oclvanitygen tends to be faster, if it works. For the technical background you'll find more information in the original article from 2011: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0. Now this should look like this (with the corresponding paths where you have saved your subfolders and files): When you have entered the file name of the .exe file in the Command Prompt, press Enter. 5. Creation of the addressNow you see a list showing an overview of the available parameters to customize your address: There are much more comments, if you have time you can try them but for our test a few commands are enough. As an example, I’ll show how to create a Bitcoin address with the first letters "test", everything written in lower case to generate a Bitcoin address that starts with 1test. There are a few general things to keep in mind: the longer your prefix, the longer the search will take. This is not a problem with 4 digits, but it will take exponentially more time if there are more digits. In particular, if you want exactly the specified upper and lower case (case sensitive), the search takes longer than if upper and lower case would not matter (case insensitive). If it’s ok for you to have mixed letters, both upper and lower case (TeSt, teST…), you can change it by adding the -i (case insensitive) command. To create the 1test address, we need the following commands: -o C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt (saving the found private and public keys in a text file) 1test (your selected prefix) Your command should look like this now: C:\BTC\vgen>vanitygen.exe -o C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt 1testIf you are ready and have done the steps above, press Enter. Now, the tool is searching for a public key with corresponding prefix (rate: 1.17 million keys per second). 50% in 2.4 minutes means your probability is 50% to find a public key with 1test in the next 2.4 minutes. The 5.1% is the probability of having found a hit in the already calculated keys so far. If there is a hit, it will be shown and the search will be stopped. For the next time you can also add the comment -k, to search for multiple hits until you close vanitygen. Please also be careful and don't exaggerate it, if your PC or laptop may be overtaxed if the performance is not very high and may damage it. Our example of a 4-digit prefix should not be a problem, but with more digits difficulty will increase exponentially to find an address. And surprise surprise, after a short time (around 2 minutes) vanitygen was successful and found an address: 1testgTQyiDMvtN67kj1w6R6J9dbo6bwd and following associated private key: 5K9qCsz17Bd1UxtS7HQWc2rKz6ssNaBHMzK8pJvYiDGVYvUSEWg The result is also stored as .txt file in our folder BTC: Of course, I won’t use this 1test address because now everyone knows the private key and could steal Bitcoins from it. Therefore: don’t publish your private key anywhere. 6. Save your generated public and private keySecurity is always very important when it comes to Bitcoin. Keep your generated private key very safe, because it’s like the password to your Bitcoins. You can write it down on a sheet of paper, store it in a safe place and save it also on an USB stick that you only use for your private keys. 7. Done! Now, you have successfully created your own Bitcoin address. If you want to access it (like via Electrum) you can have a look here. Make sure to test your address before you send large sums of Bitcoin to it. There is no way to figure out your private key afterwards if you have made a mistake. In addition, I have created another vanity address, but I don’t tell you the private key: 1miau7e4tFSAGR4TkAJ8n32UMm2yLB9EH If you like, you can post your customized vanity address here (but please without private key if you are planning to use it). © 1miau 11.01.2019 Additional links: Security advice from LoyceVVanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner release 2011 [v0.22]Rare address hall of fame (1) generated by LoyceV(2) on hardware of LoyceV
Update 04/04/2019: Member Jean_Luc has developed another vanity-address-generator and published it on GitHub: https://github.com/JeanLucPons/VanitySearchIt's much faster than vanitygen and supports besides P2PKH legacy addresses (1..) also SegWit addresses P2SH (3...) and bech32 (bc1q...). Nice guide for beginners! Can I add some comments? Maybe you have seen a Bitcoin address where the first letters are a word, similar like this:
1bitcoinFhq5qD3dDfHw6Lq4xdm81q15uT 1FUDfm8Fhq5qD3dDfHw6Lq4xdm81q15uT 1satoshi8Fhq5qD3dDfHw6Lq4xdm81q15uT You probably know it already, but these are not valid Bitcoin addresses. Can you replace them by real examples (you can find some here)? 2. Turn off internet connection while generating your Bitcoin address
It’s also possible to create a vanity address when your internet connection is active, but for security reasons no internet connection is recommended. It would be even safer if you run the program on a computer that was never connected to the internet, but you can decide for yourself which security level is sufficient. Unplugging your internet connection is not enough. Be paranoid and assume your PC is compromised with malware that patiently waits until you go online again. Even if it was never connected to the internet before, you shouldn't connect it afterwards either. One option to work around this would be using a split key approach, in which the key is generated from an offline LIVE Linux system, and never touches your online PC. You can write it down on a sheet of paper, store it in a safe place and save it also on an USB stick that you only use for your private keys. Make sure to TEST IT before funding the address. Don't end up like this case. There are other ways offered on websites to create a vanity address, but I don’t recommend creating such an address on a website. If you create your address by a third party (the website), there is a possibility that someone can get access to your private keys. This warning can be a bit bigger: If someone knows your private key, you don't own it and it will get stolen! Any website that offers you vanity addresses without using split key is a SCAM. Some links to add: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22]Rare address hall of fameIf you like, you can post your customized vanity address here (but please without private key if you are planning to use it.) That's a very nice guide indeed. I never made one for me because I am too paranoid with security. I agree with Loycev, turning off internet is not enough. But I think I will make one for me 1bitmover .... Or a 3bitmover... Sadly vanity gen doesn't work with segwit addresses Nulius made this for generating a segwit vanity address. I never tested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2934774.0

But I think I will make one for me 1bitmover ... On my hardware, 1Bitmover would take 2 months for 50% chance. The lower case 1bitmover is 58 times less likely. That may be worth adding to the OP too: some starting characters are more likely than others.

Nice guide for beginners! Can I add some comments? Yes, contributing comments are always welcome! Maybe you have seen a Bitcoin address where the first letters are a word, similar like this:

Can you replace them by real examples (you can find some here)? You are right, I just typed some random combinations to show what I mean. Tomorrow, I'll replace them and create real vanity addresses where the checksum will match. Prefix 1FUD, 1fomo or similar. I can also add some from the hall of fame or your special ones. 2. Turn off internet connection while generating your Bitcoin address
It’s also possible to create a vanity address when your internet connection is active, but for security reasons no internet connection is recommended. Nice one, how long did it take? It takes 25,000 years for 50% chance on my hardware, meaning I can never create another one. And that's another tip: I use a long list of prefixes, 15,000+. I have "1Newborn" on my list, the "Seat" was a coincidence. Using a long list makes is much more likely to find at least one of the rare prefixes. Do you know which ones and why? I'll add it also to my OP. I can't reproduce the details of "why", but you can quite easily test it: just take a prefix and change the first character. Adding more "ones" (1111111) makes it much harder to find too. I read from LoyceV that he has a list of seldom Bitcoin vanity addresses which he is still searching. Maybe he can include your 1bitmover / 1Bitmover /1BitMover because when he runs it, vanitygen will search all keys anyways. Added: 1Bitmover 1BitMover 1bitmover 1bitMover Note this: I don't run it often anymore, but eventually I'll find one. Just to show off of course, as you shouldn't trust anyone else's keys. This takes about 3 seconds to create a burn address. 1LoseYourLooseCoinsHerexxxy396iE3 for example.

Lol that is probably not possible to create. All this processing power should be used to mine. You would spend years with a very powerful software and spend too much energy. The smaller the faster . I would like to know more about some characters being easier than others. How does this works Loycev? Can you tell more about it?

Do you know which ones and why? I'll add it also to my OP. I can't reproduce the details of "why", but you can quite easily test it: just take a prefix and change the first character. Adding more "ones" (1111111) makes it much harder to find too. Ok, nice to know, also added to my OP. And I've added some real addresses. I read the OP, and will read it again carefully to comprehensively catch your ideas. By now, I am curious that whether the approach will create higher secured address than others created in Blockchain.info's BTC wallets or not. Would you mind clarifying a little bit more about the most advantages of vanity address, please.
The split-key process and the guide to turn off Internet connection before creating vanity address, spliting keys are valuable one.
Security of your vanity address depends on how you create it. If you create it while your internet connection is active it might be insecure and I don't recommend it. Like LoyceV said, security is very important and it also depends on how much BTC you want to send to it. If you import it in Electrum, it won't be safer than Electrum anyways... Creating vanity addresses is normally not the first reason of getting an address, which is much safer than others. It's more a reason that you create an unique address and can use it for example for small payments. However, it's still possible to create very secure addresses with vanitygen but in my opinion the main reason vanity generators were developed for the ability to genereate customized addresses and add a prefix.

I saw such unique addresses, but did not know how to generate them. Yet I understood, decided to translate your theme to Russian language thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5096861.msg49216753#msg49216753I'll try to run vanitygen next weekend on my mining rig. I think I'll need to monitor the equipment if you say the generator needs more performance. Thank you for your efforts.

Good option for beign sure vanity address is secure. It demands a lot of work and some knowledge even going step by step with your guide. There are always people that are not so technically gifted and they need easy alternatives (there are many). Its compromise between security and ease of use. Great job tho, very detailed guide.

Do we have a procedure for Linux users? or this is only possible for those who have only Windows OS? Otherwise great effort you put up there to simplify the whole process. I could make one if I get to use windows soon.

Try this: 1. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen.git 2. Go to its folder and compile it: 3. Run it!

Nice translation to Indonesian and great that you have created a personal address. To post signed addresses you can do it here in English, I think normally the Mods prefer signed messages in English to restore accounts. I've quoted and verified it. But better post it again here. Do we have a procedure for Linux users? or this is only possible for those who have only Windows OS? Otherwise great effort you put up there to simplify the whole process. I could make one if I get to use windows soon.
Another user ( o_solo_miner) is working out a complete version for Linux, I think he is still busy but when he is ready he will publish it.

Many thanks for explaining the topic of vanity addresses for the Chinese community! If you have some free time and want to expand your topic you can also add the different steps of the creation process. So all the details will be available in Chinese.

feel free to post your created public key here Did you mean Bitcoin address? I can't see any reason to share the public key.
Request for an edit for #3 and additional option for #4: [3] If you press Windows+R, it will just open the " run" dialogue box. Just add " type cmd and press enter" to complete the instruction. [4] You can totally disregard #3 and the directory selection by opening the command prompt directly from where Vanitygen is stored. - Browse to the folder where vanitygen/oclvanitygen is.
- Press CTRL+SHIFT+RightClick on an empty space within the folder (not on the executable/files), click "Open command window here".
- Then you can directly start either vanitygen or oclvanitygen commands without extra directory selection command(s).
- Example (for verbose or "displayed output"): oclvanitygen.exe -v "1test"
Took literally 2 seconds for oclvanitygen.

It's interesting. I can see if I can generate a special BTC address. I am even more curious as to whether the addresses generated in this way may conflict or are not recognized?

Hmm.. The thread title is quite misleading. Every bitcoin address is unique, as far as I know. I was curious and clicked on the thread to read and yes, my assumption is correct - it's about vanity addresses alright.

feel free to post your created public key here Did you mean Bitcoin address? I can't see any reason to share the public key. Yes, technically that's right but I had people before sending me not only their P2PKH address (+ private key included) and so I thought it would avoid problems here. I'll just modify the message to make it more clear. [3] If you press Windows+R, it will just open the "run" dialogue box. Just add "type cmd and press enter" to complete the instruction.
Normally it should display cmd by default and just clicking ok / press enter are sufficient. I'll add it.

Thanks for the advice, very useful and much faster. I will include it in my OP when I have some free time. +1
Good idea. I will try it later and link your post. Thanks for sharing.
I am even more curious as to whether the addresses generated in this way may conflict or are not recognized?
What do you mean exactly? The addresses can be used like normal addresses (P2PKH "Legacy" format), assumed you have created them in a secure way. Vanity addresses are customized addresses, functions are the same.
Hmm.. The thread title is quite misleading. Every bitcoin address is unique, as far as I know. I was curious and clicked on the thread to read and yes, my assumption is correct - it's about vanity addresses alright.
Yeah, maybe customized fits better. Edit: changed to [Guide] How to create your customized Bitcoin-Address (vanitygen) – step by step

Well done, great to bring the topic to the polish local board. Did you think about VanitySearch tutorial? I didn't test it but according to Jean_Luc it's up to 4 times faster.
I tried VanitySearch for a test run (Legacy Address) a few weeks ago and I can say it's much faster than VanityGen. I didn't try the other options SegWit P2SH or Bech32 but it should work like legacy. (prefix has to be changed from 1... to 3... or bc1q...) more informations here where Jean_Luc introduced it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5112311.msg50435505#msg50435505Maybe I can make also a tutorial for VanitySearch when I've more time in late June again but procedure is similar.

Thanks @1miau. I just generated this 1akh47CuQbqrPH5uD74RzGSAvQowsRRb9 (vanity address) using your guide. I didn't go for the split key method. C:\BTC\vgen\vanitygen.exe -o C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt 1akh I don't have much technical knowledge, so consider this as a noob question. By using VanityGen, we are brute-forcing the desired output, right? If that's the case, if someone else uses VanityGen with the following command C:\BTC\vgen\vanitygen.exe -k C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt 1akh He might have a chance to get my Private keys right? Please clarify me.

By using VanityGen, we are brute-forcing the desired output, right? Correct. If that's the case, if someone else uses VanityGen ~ He might have a chance to get my Private keys right? Incorrect. You can find a prefix with a few characters, but every extra character makes it 58 times harder to find. Try searching for 1 akh47CuQb instead of 1 akh, you'll see it's 58^6 (=38 billion) times more difficult already! A private key generated from a proper proper random seed can't be brute-forced. I tried a few for you ( don't use those!): Pattern: 1akh Address: 1akhJZcexLFPQVJhHtCb9mFfU1NzJRS27 Privkey: 5K1ZLgzCny1hR4Kq3MnfvYrWdjnd85UKkhFexGAGSVVU61QxZDR Pattern: 1akh Address: By using VanityGen, we are brute-forcing the desired output, right? If that's the case, if someone else uses VanityGen with the following command C:\BTC\vgen\vanitygen.exe -k C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt 1akh He might have a chance to get my Private keys right? Please clarify me. LoyceV gave you already the correct answer. By using the same command he won't have a realistic chance to brute-force your private keys. Theoretically, it's possible (but practically impossible) if he uses the same command but we are talking about very big numbers here, it's more likely that the earth will be hit by moon and mars tomorrow. ^^ So no need to worry, that won't happen.

What hardware do I need to speed up generation of address, it uses GPU?
vanitygen.exe is using CPU but the same file from samr7 contains also oclvanitygen.exe which is using GPU: You can try vanitygen.exe or use the file oclvanitygen.exe, it’s up to you which one you prefer. The difference between them is that vanitygen is CPU-based and oclvanitygen GPU-based. For our 4-digit combination, don’t matter if case-sensitive or case-insensitive, vanitygen is sufficient on a normal PC, oclvanitygen tends to be faster, if it works. For the technical background you'll find more information in the original article from 2011: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0
But after I created the guide, Jean_Luc developed VanitySearch which is much faster in general. So if you need more than 4 characters, VanitySearch is your best decision:

Hey, I don't know much about these things, i am new to crypto world, i would like to know a couple of things, i used your method and generated a address and its private key, but since i did it offline, what if someone searches the same keywords and gets the same private key or the same address. I just wanted to know if this happens or not before i load my address and start using it. Also, how do we get backup phrases for this address or only private key is enough ? Can i receive and send btc freely onto this ? How do we verify signatures into this wallet ? Complete noob here, please bear with me

I don't know much about these things, i am new to crypto world My advice is to familiarize yourself with what you're doing before sending a large amount to your new address. Test it, test recovery from your backup, test sending, and make sure you understand what you're doing before sending larger amounts to an address. i used your method and generated a address and its private key, but since i did it offline, what if someone searches the same keywords and gets the same private key or the same address. My all means: try it! Try to find the same address again. Or while you're at it, try to find the private key for 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZjqQMjJrcCrHGW9sb6uF (Balance: ). See how long it takes you to find an address that starts with 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZj. On my system, it would take, many billions of years to find. And each additional character makes it 58 times more difficult to find. Of course you won't find it, but actually trying might help you to understand how secure Bitcoin addresses actually are. Generating it offline is actually a good thing: there's less risk of compromising your private key, and there is no such thing as "generating it online to check if nobody else uses it". That's not needed, as long as your private key is properly (randomly) generated. Also, how do we get backup phrases for this address or only private key is enough ? Print it, write it down, stamp it in steel, anything you want works. Note that you don't even need to backup the address itself, it can always be derived from the private key. And when you write down the key, make sure you can still read it and didn't make mistakes. Try to recover it, you wouldn't be the first to lose funds because of writing mistakes. "Backup phrases" are just another way to create private keys. Your private key should be randomly generated on it's own, that means there is no "backup phrase". Just don't lose the private key! Can i receive and send btc freely onto this ? Yes. But try a small amount first to make sure you do it correctly. How do we verify signatures into this wallet ? See How to sign a message?!. Complete noob here, please bear with me I tried, but this post can't be complete. Welcome to Bitcointalk, you'll find all the information you need here. Just read a lot, stay vigilant, and be very careful who you trust! Scammers are always after your private keys.

Thank you for the insight, it was very helpful, i was concerned about it because if everything goes well i would like to use the same address for all my transactions, it took my gpu only 2 hours to generate it though so i was wondering if someone else would get the same address and key for it if they tried.

I read and learn (never stop learning ) and I can give a more detailed clarification. It is for a desktop PC. I created vanity address as a gift for someone special. Am I right, that I can send bitcoins to this address even before anyone imports private key to Electrum wallet? Although I do realize that it would be safer to test it first so I'm sure that private key works and my friend will be able to use bitcoins. I know this gift is problematic because there is no guarantee if I will keep the private key after giving it as a gift, but this is about trust and I'm sure my friend will trust me.

Although I do realize that it would be safer to test it first so I'm sure that private key works and my friend will be able to use bitcoins. I always test my vanity addresses before funding them, for instance using bitaddress.org (offline, running LIVE Linux, and after taking all necessary safety precautions). Until now it always worked, but for my own peace of mind it doesn't hurt to test them. I know this gift is problematic because there is no guarantee if I will keep the private key after giving it as a gift, but this is about trust and I'm sure my friend will trust me. Although some people have trusted me with the private keys they still use, it's important to know Bitcoin is about not having to trust anyone. “Don’t Trust. Verify.”

Even if it is posted to be possible to customize the Btc Address, I think it better not to try if your not technical fit or no try at all you might end up losing your funds Much appreciated for the post but that is my suggestion

It's wasn't that difficult, took me maybe approximately 20 mins @i7 9700K I guess I was lucky. I was thinking to try 1asenko instead but takes 2.4 days. So maybe sometime later can do a try. Regarding the SegWit, yeah, I was reading exactly this thread so when I have more free time will try it as well. I have so many ideas now

I'm still playing with the generator, here some questions.
How can I enter a full address? I mean I know it's impossible to generate a whole address, maybe the only chance is like a side effect of using the Infinite Improbability Drive (THGTTG) but If I add it to the list it won't do any harm anyway.
How about using the -r option? Will this work?
I'm creating list in the style like
1 11 111 1111 ....... and so on.
Now I'm getting the "prefix ... is too long.

Quoting myself here for an update: New Windows10 builds replaced the " Open command window here" with " Open PowerShell window here", it'll work just fine but needs a slight modification in the command to launch/open executables. Additionally, now holding Shift will trigger that right-click menu instead of Ctrl+Shift. After opening the PowerShell directly from the directory of Vanitygen/search, start the command with .\Example: .\vanitysearch.exe -stop 1test

Nice guide to look for btc address that has similar to what you are looking for and that is very interesting to know but I should be more careful in using btc address with trademark especially usersname because of privacy reason. BTC wallets usually generates another btc address when doing transactions for the change for security purposes. Anyway, if this only for some sort of fun or purpose be good.
Question, Is it possible to get a private key of other btc address holding huge btc by using the program searching the btc public address?

Question, Is it possible to get a private key of other btc address holding huge btc by using the program searching the btc public address?
simple answer is that if it were possible someone would have done it already. what these programs do is that they choose a random key, convert it to public key then hash it and finally encode it to see if the starting characters are the same. so it is somewhat similar to brute forcing to find a collision. as the size of the collision increases it demands more work and this work grows exponentially not linearly. the full address requires checking at least 128-bits which will take until the end of the universe with the current total computing power in the world.

Question, Is it possible to get a private key of other btc address holding huge btc by using the program searching the btc public address?
Here's an analogy, or straight comparison to lottery rather: - The chance that you'll hit a jackpot of a 6-digit 42-balls lottery is 1 out of 42^6
= 1 out of 5,489,031,744 - The chance that Vanitysearch/gen will hit the private key of your target address is 1 out of 2^256 (minus one Duodecillion approx)
= 1 out of 115,792,089,237,316,195,423,570,985,008,687,907,852,837,564,279,074,904,382,605,163,141,518,161,494,336
Even though a lottery only takes place 1-7 times a week while tools like this can search millions of keys per second, the difference is still a lot compared to your chances of hitting a jackpot, just look at the numbers. I used the private key instead of the address for the " chance formula" because you can't search for the address private key without generating a random/sequence of private key first. Here's a real-world example: With a speed of 9.12 million keys per second, I'll be able to " hack" the funds of address 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE in about 3.52425e+33 years. That's equivalent to 3,524,250,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years

I was looking for customized bitcoin-address generation through this website and just right now discovered this article, it's phenomenal but there is slight correction from me: When I clicked on original address to download from github, https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen/downloads showed me 404 error page. As it seems, correct url at the moment is without the addition of /downloads, i.e. https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen is a right one that directly connects you to page.

Yes, you are right. Obviously, GitHub has changed a bit and my current link is not supported anymore... I've added it in my OP and replaced the link. Many thanks for pointing it out. If you need a customized SegWit-Address generator, you might also be interested in VanitySearch from Jean_Luc. He's even active on Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5112311.0

Somehow, I found a valid url on Bitcoin wiki and changed version from 0.20 to 0.22 (the latest one I assume) - https://github.com/downloads/samr7/vanitygen/vanitygen-0.21-win.zipOtherwise, every step works correctly, tried and generated wallet successfully. Danke sehr
I successfully generated address via CPU but I want to generate it via GPU. Followed the steps but then I got this error.

Yeah, I've added the right link for download accordingly. Otherwise, every step works correctly, tried and generated wallet successfully. Danke sehr Nice to hear, I hope you found some nice vanity addresses. I successfully generated address via CPU but I want to generate it via GPU. Followed the steps but then I got this error.
I've tried it as well, I don't get such an error but doesn't work for me as well because it depends on your device. Maybe that's a good question for the original topic and someon can help you for your question. The original topic is in Development and Technical Discussion, so someone probably has a valid answer. Of course, it's a bit technical but you can try to translate it to your local board. I've approved your request and it's now officially reserved: Language | translated by | Title | ___________________________ | _____________________ | _______________________________________________________________________ | Nigeria (Naija) | Chilwell (reserved) | reserved |
As always, you can link your translation here, when it's done, but no hurry.

Your guide is not complete 1meow, there are options to also generate vanity checksum for the address, it would be the last 6 characters of the address, you could also select any char position, something like second char to be hand picked, 5th char, 11th char etc, you could also set prefix and a few chars of checksum for the search.

Hello, dear Chilwell Many thanks for providing a translation here, it's a very technical topic but I believe it can be interesting at least to know about the existence of such customized "vanity addresses". I've added your translation to my list:

There are various options for everything. If you want to start doing something useful, feel free to create an additional guide about it.

Ok here is the guide: Prefix 1miau*HitLer 1miauxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHitLerKJYjJK Or 1miauis*HitLer, which would result in the following address: 1miauisxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHitLerNncRJa Or 1TAGperweek*Doctorsorders, which would result in: 1TAGperweekxxxxxxDoctorsordersPQ1tZK So that's called wild card "*", however I haven't seen any tool that can find chars other than prefix and suffix. The checksum can't be randomly manipulated, it would require so much computation power. But what we have right now is prefix and suffix as demonstrated above. Hope it's useful. 😉

Ok here is the guide:
Ok, now send some BTC to that address to demonstrate how to burn BTC. Prefix 1miau*HitLer
How about digaran*HitLer, since you are the one who has supported the far-right trolls and their enablers? Or maybe your lack of knowledge about German history is the much bigger problem here? Oh, I forgot, you are a troll

Try to get a cookie tonight (it's at least something since you are not eligible anymore to receive a weekly reward for your troll bullshit). that's enough troll spam in my topic
