Has anyone heard of the site CryptoExpo.net? Is this a scam site? I can't find any real information on it anywhere.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Its another phishing site of cex.io (a lot have been showing up lately). If you haven't heard of that, it's an established exchange, check ann thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=318010.0

So yeah, stay away with cryptoexpo.

It should've been obvious that it's a scam just by looking at the dead links on the site. How did you find it in the first place?

I found it from some random person asking me if I had an account there. That's the first thing I noticed when I looked at the site is they just basically took CEX.io's logo and rotated it Haha The chat on the side is just bots saying the same thing over and over again. The person who created it is the support and I got him to talk to me and he tried to claim that he is making 5 BTC every 3 weeks from the site & showed me a couple others he and his team are involved in making. I don't really understand how they would even have the opportunity to scam anyone considering I don't think their site drives any traffic to it but  Undecided Cry

Please be aware that certain people have been spreading this scam site all over chatrooms, discord, Telegram PMs etc. The site is a clone copy of cex.io and is asking the person for a deposit which if sent will be again asking for deposit of 0.01 BTC and wont change, the vicitim will keep sending more money to them unless they realize that they are being scammed again and again.

A thread was made on "Scam Accusations" regarding this as well.

That's a poor scam attempt and you should be stay away of, there are lots of reported scams like that on scam accusation board. Some of my colleagues once received an offer like that, luckily he manage to avoid it. If you have some acquaintances in the industry try to tell them about this so more people will be aware on  this type of scheme.

Almost scammed here.
They asked if you have an account there.
Then they send you their fake bitcoins, probably just sql data / any random bitcoin transaction.
After that they ask you to send it back to them from a local wallet, so you need to withdraw to your wallet the amount.
But when you tried to withdraw they ask for 0.01 BTC to unfreeze the account.
Now they have an support that's not a bot, be careful!

Any website that dont have this informations are SCAM:
- Email validation -- easy registering is faster to scam
- Social networks  -- user reviews
- Phisical address or registered business -- some exchanges have and it's important to check it!
- Open ticket support -- chat support means that the website dont have real users, so they will answer you fast as possible, different from ticket support
- Information like date of creation should not be trusted, names and others.

Be careful!

Please be aware that certain people have been spreading this scam site all over chatrooms, discord, Telegram PMs etc.
That explains why it's always noobs finding out about these scam sites, because I never see them pop up aside from when people open up threads like this. It's a shame that it still pays off to pull off something like this.

You would expect that after all this time it would be less easy to fool people with obvious scams, but I guess that I am fooling myself believing that people learn and change for the better in the crypto world....

If you're gullible enough you're going to fall for that scam attempt. Good thing that you never bought to his story.

Scammers will keep on doing something just to get a person that will fall for their trap, don't just get into someone that shares a random exchange that isn't popular.
