This is why theymos should push through decaying unused merits though it is another hard work for them to do this.

That won't change this situation. These users have had a year since the introduction of merit and haven't spent a single one. They clearly are not in the least bit interested in sending merit, and therefore, not in the least bit interested in how many sMerits they have available. Decaying what they are already not using won't change their habits, but will reduce the amount of merit being circulated from other users.

Sending merits to users who clearly dont want to take part in the merit system is like throwing them away. The sMerits those users get wont be be used further down the road since they dont want to send any. So it makes more sense meriting users who are part of the system.

It would be nice  to have an update on the full list of sMerits hodlers made by LoyceV.

As a merit source i tend not to have any bias distributing my merits.
The only one I have is giving merits to those users I know don 't make them trickle down in the merit economy (I know errors havbe been made by FED with QE, I don't want to go down he same path!).

So definetly interested.

The above filters tab called "Merited User Summary" by MeritSent=0, MeritReceived greater than 0, and orders the results by "Merit Received" descending. I’ve included a column called Banned (derived from @LoyceV’s data).

Top two profiles are no surprise for obvious reasons (Satoshi and Hal). @Sidehack is the real top case, as the profile is active, having received 528 sMerits and sent none to date.

If we want to be more operative, we can filter by profiles that are not banned, have received at least 50 sMerits, and were last active over the last three months:

return (yearActivity/378) * modifier * freeMerit

So the most you could get is if you were a Legendary who maxed out your activity points in the last year, in which case you would get 1 * 0.4 * 1000 = 400 sMerit.

Note that I later made an adjustment giving 500 extra merit to some hero members, but no extra sMerit was given here.

I'll probably publish a dump of the initial sMerit at some point.

But: based on this, I should have received 400 sMerit. I only got 200.

I decided to take another look at this thread to see if anything changed, and there have been some changes.

Plutosky is now actively participating in the merit distribution system. I have removed him from OP.
dgcarlosleon sent one merit in December 2020 which takes him off the list as well.
goatpig sent a 50 merit transaction, so he is removed.
Shawshank took some time and sent 2 merits to other accounts.
vh has sent 27 merits.
kschneezy is no longer active, but he took part in the merit distribution during 2019.
miramare got banned, but sent no merits while he was still active.
Febo distributes merits from time to time and is off the list.
Wingzcrypto2018 sent 2 merits, got banned in the meantime, but that still takes him off the list.
kschneezy has also sent a plenty of merits in the meantime and is off the list.
strawbs is now an active participant in the merit distribution and his name has been removed from the list as well.

realr0ach is currently a silver bug (he prefers silver over gold) who thinks cryptocurrency as a whole is a bunch of crap. Lately, he hangs out in the WO thread. I doubt that he will ever give out any merit to anyone. You'd have better luck getting a merit out of Proudhon.

Like a newly registered account that receives merits but does not spend the sMerits or an old high ranking member who wasn't initially active but then starts receiving merits and does not distribute them

I have any useful knowledge with scraping or collecting data. Maybe I could have helped
