OgNasty gave me the suggestion to make a post who "the biggest merit backscratchers" are. Merit backscratchers are defined as users who give each other the most Merit: For example, if I sent theymos 50 merits, and he sends me 20, then you could say that we scratched each other's backs with 20 merit. It's a new angle to look at Merit and possible Merit abuse, but before rushing to conclusions, make sure to check the merited posts. It could very well be both users made good posts and deserve the Merit. You'll probably find many Merit sources in the list, simply because they've sent a lot of Merit. Meanwhile, real Merit abusers might have used more than 2 accounts and thus a bigger circle, so they won't even show up in this list. Update: jackg suggested to add Merit received (in green) and sent (in red) to put things into perspective. You get merit points when someone likes your post enough to give you some. And for every 2 merit points you receive, you can send 1 merit point to someone else!

Many WO club members just seem to "trade" merits with each other, but "It's all fun and games". Some other accounts, such as wnj4, have already been identified as connected and have received red trust. Overall I think it is small the number of accounts that have exchanged a lot of merits. I thought it would be something more common. Perhaps merit farms are very extensive and the number of merits exchanged is too small so they can stay off this radar and do not receive red trust.

For older and active users it kind of makes sense. You would not expect newbies and users that are not so active on this list, would you?

No wonder I've got an itchy back. I'm nowhere to be seen on that list. Wail! The top guys don't love me.

No-one willing to scratch my hairy-ass-back it seems Maybe the fact that you have an "ass-back" is the reason. No one wants to touch one of those.

How did you determine who is in which column?
The highest userID comes first. That was an arbitrary choice.

You'll have to scratch ognastys back now though . Interesting and kinda odd idea. I didn't make the list, I'm guessing that's quite a good thing. Can you do something of a value of total merit sent to that user/total merit sent overall and add those for each side to see what we get? That might be more interesting... Might be helpful in spotting account farming too...

Interesting. Had I wondered about what such a list would look like before this thread got created, I would have predicted much different results. I don't even recognize most of the members who are scratching each others' backs, which makes me think that there's a lot of possible merit abuse happening with accounts that had a lot of airdropped sMerits, but that's just my speculation. A lot of shitposters tend to accuse well-known senior members of circle jerking and sending merits back and forth to each other, and other forms of merit abuse, but from what I see here that's not the case--or at least that it's not the huge problem that the shitposters make it out to be. You'll have to scratch ognastys back now though . If he's the one who requested this data, I'd be curious to know what he thought the results might show.

Anybody want to count appearances or add up totals on the list and see who the biggest abusers are? I wouldn't go as far as calling them "abusers". I've not run the numbers, but I'd wager suchmoon would be number one simply by virtue of having given out almost 10k merits. Pretty much everyone who has ever given suchmoon more than 18 merit will appear on that list.

If they are involve in a bigger circle of backscratchers isn't it more easier to track as you will see that there is some kind of commonality when it comes to the names showing off in their merit history? Of course they won't show up in the top of the list as you are right on them being in a bigger circle but I think it's possible for all of their names to show up at some point, I mean 5-25 merits sent by each of them is very achievable for backscratchers who started with a big airdrop of merits.

Can you do something of a value of total merit sent to that user/total merit sent overall I like this idea Done See the OP or http://loyce.club/other/Backscratchers.html for the full list (8683 entries).

suchmoon you are in a trouble Yep. I counted myself 12 times in that list. I have no excuse for this horrible abuse but I can promise it can only get worse because I still have an ungodly amount of sMerits to send and given that I already merited ~800 (IIRC) users I can't imagine I'd be able to spread them much wider.

if you don't mind , i added the % that represents the amount of the sent merit from left user to right user out of the total sent merits. only those who sent more than half (50%) of their merits show on the list. for example , number 137 sent 100% of his sMerit to that user.

The number one couple on the list is a multi-account that was "reported" by Asche Multiple Account + merit exchangingHello, I want to expose the ties between two accounts, Coin++ and CarlOrff. CarlOrff made the mistake to say "I said" referring to a post written by Coin++. This has been captured by myself here : http://archive.is/IRrYI@halab, french staff member, or maybe @actmyname who also understands french as far as I can remember should be able to confirm this. He deleted his post following my statement. You can also see they have been exchanging roughly 100 merit.

Just curious how you made it? The merit backscratchers list is a very long one. I believe that it takes lots of time to compose and edit it manually. Hence, I guess you coded to make it automatically.

Theymos does regular data dumps every week. It's likely just a version of that. Loyce, piggy and vod I think keep updated copies of all time merit givings... There's provably quite a few other users who do if you're after something?

I known about both data dumps from theymos, LoyceV, and the guide of Piggy to run SQL queries. What I asked is how LoyceV made the list (its contents, and formats). I don't think he made it manually for the extreme long list. Theymos does regular data dumps every week. It's likely just a version of that. Loyce, piggy and vod I think keep updated copies of all time merit givings...
Just curious, because I copied the list to Microsoft word, then it crashed (Not responding), so I gave up. I come back to LoyceV's club to re-check how long the list is. Honesly, the list is unbelievable long, LOL. There's provably quite a few other users who do if you're after something?

Word sucks for things like that. It is ok for data formatting but not to handle a lot of data. Use notepad++ or atom or similar to manipulate large amount of data in text form.

I don't use SQL Just curious, because I copied the list to Microsoft word, then it crashed (Not responding), so I gave up. I think Word tries to copy the formatting, which is a bit much for Word to handle. I think you can copy it to something like Notepad to get just text, that makes it easier to copy it to Word. To answer your question: I used http://loyce.club/Merit/merit.all.txt, and for each Merit transaction I count many were send to UserX from UserY. After that, I took the lowest value from UserX>UserY and UserY>UserX. I used my list http://loyce.club/Merit/usernames.txt to get the usernames and add the links. Obviously, I'd go crazy doing this manually

Nice list and use of data.
My first reference isn't until after #1000, so after giving out over 200 merits, I can safely take pride in my wide merit distribution... Or else feel bad about my lack of merits as compared to some. You know, one or the other..

I was thinking of making another list: Merit Backstabbers: who stabbed who in the back most, by having the largest difference between received and sent Merit to one person Example: I stabbed suchmoon in the back for about 140 Merit It's not really serious, but if someone's interested, I'll make the list.

I've come across multiple entries that look like this: ( http://loyce.club/Merit/history/131361.html ) Curious I've been clicking on them and they all come up eg this one:
So now we're doxing people who swear a lot? Go fuck yourself with a bag of rusty nails, you quickscamming piece of shit.
This

Also it was clear that the mentioned was a failed sting rather than scam.
You need to read up on what a sting operation is.
Just like you need to read up on what "escrow" means.
and this
A fellow salty New Englander, owlcatz is. No wonder when he first responded to something I wrote a couple of years ago, it was a "fuck you" post. I'll never forget that, though I've totally forgotten when or exactly what he wrote. I've never known him to be a scammer on bitcointalk, despite Quickseller's repeated beatings of that dead horse that no one cares about except him. I don't know Owlcatz, and we haven't had any interaction on this forum or anywhere else, and I'm not in his "clique" but I think it's generally accepted that what QS keeps referencing was not a true extortion attempt, but a failed sting operation. And if I recall, even Lauda admitted it was a mistake to do that. Either way, I don't think a doxxing is going to accomplish anything. It's not going to keep the fine people of Montpelier, VT any safer, as though Owlcatz was a fucking sex offender or something. Just give it up, QS. No one gives a shit about this accusation anymore.
Thank you, you are spot on man. I admit I swear a lot.
LOL. I can't scrape Investigations, so it gets listed as deleted. Self-Moderated. Meta doesn't allow self-moderated threads, hence the local rules. Even though those rules are valid on the entire forum, making it specific means I can report any post from the troll. The deleted posts that got merit always fascinate me as well. Maybe a list of the leaders in meriting posts that get deleted would be fun. I think I'll skip this one.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
|
|
February 18, 2019, 06:47:44 PM |
|
Hey Loyce,
This may be a trivial question or maybe everyone knows the answer, except me?
I was wondering how your algorithm considers who is scratching the back of whom? Which member to put first? Is there a ordering of merits that causes which member goes first on the backscratcher list?
Also, if the "alleged" backscratching member waits a week or two to merit scratch the back of the other member, it should still be caught in the algorithm, right?

1) Self-Custody is a right. There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

I was wondering how your algorithm considers who is scratching the back of whom? Which member to put first? Is there a ordering of merits that causes which member goes first on the backscratcher list? The newest account is mentioned first. Also, if the "alleged" backscratching member waits a week or two to merit scratch the back of the other member, it should still be caught in the algorithm, right? It's the result of all Merits ever sent between 2 users. It doesn't matter when it happened.

Merit Backscratchers (another 6 weeks later) I'm getting very close to the top Off the top of my head, I would have speculated that "merit backscratching" would be deemed a "bad" rather than good thing. Like, Michael Jackson, some peeps aspire to be "bad." Who's bad? Answer: LoyceV... and two "moar badder" peeps above him
You need to read up on what a sting operation is.
LOL. Only 93 the top one? I was expecting a much higher number to be honest. By the way, good initiative with this thread, so merit abusers can be caught easier. Tip: Another good thread will be The merit niggard (a top of users who don't give away the merit received - total received/total sent)

Can I request an update of this Merit Back-scratching information please?
Just a couple of quick questions: (Please note: The two questions are concerning distinctly separate investigations). - If a users' top three merit fans they then back scratch, does that mean the user in question is gaming the system? (If not, then when? 3of5 ?? 3of10? 5of12?? 7of9?)
- If a cluster of say a half dozen UID's all default trust each other *and* they are all back scratching, which does that prove? They are a voting block? Or, they are alts/some are alts/mix of alts and a voting block?
Is there a thread for default trust back-scratching?

Update: I'm not sure why my data on for instance my total received Merit is slightly off, but this isn't important enough to figure it out. I was accidentally using my latest data from 2019, instead of this year. I've fixed this for the new update.

If a users' top three merit fans they then back scratch, does that mean the user in question is gaming the system? (If not, then when? 3of5 ?? 3of10? 5of12?? 7of9?) I'd say "it depends" on the situation. Can you show an example of a user who you think is gaming the system? If a cluster of say a half dozen UID's all default trust each other *and* they are all back scratching, which does that prove? They are a voting block? Or, they are alts/some are alts/mix of alts and a voting block? Or they all make good posts, read each other's posts, and trust each other's judgment. Is there a thread for default trust back-scratching? There's this: In addition, I've detected the Profiles that all trust each other:- 7 members where all trust all: 5 cases (complete graph networks) - 6 members where all trust all: 39 cases (complete graph networks) - 5 members where all trust all: 179 cases (complete graph networks) - 4 members where all trust all: 563 cases (complete graph networks) - 3 members where all trust all: 1.118 cases (complete graph networks) - 2 members where all trust all: 2.369 cases (complete graph networks) I’ve listed them in the last tab ("All trust All circles") of the Base File.

Hey thanks for doing this - it's going to take me a couple of days to familiarise myself with these entries. If a users' top three merit fans they then back scratch, does that mean the user in question is gaming the system? (If not, then when? 3of5 ?? 3of10? 5of12?? 7of9?) I'd say "it depends" on the situation. I have some investigations that are in the research stage, but I'm hoping to compare the information you've provided to some historic cases so that I can get an understanding of how to apply this information in future research. Can you show an example of a user who you think is gaming the system? Unfortunately, just saying something appears to be suspicious has resulted in those persons giving me negative trust/distrust (which is a form of default trust abuse), so for the moment, if you are more than passingly curious, PM me and I will provide some of my recent studies. If a cluster of say a half dozen UID's all default trust each other *and* they are all back scratching via merits swapping/back scratching, which does that prove? They are a voting block? Or, they are alts/some are alts/mix of alts and a voting block? Or they all make good posts, read each other's posts, and trust each other's judgment. That should have read in part "via merit swapping/back-scratching" - I have amended the quote to give context. Basically I am asking does it make it more compelling that trust abuse is occurring when both merits *and* default trust back-scratching occurs if that makes sense? Thanks, will check it out.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Funny this chart is.. .or maybe the better word would be ironic. I remember looking at the previous updates of this chart and considering my lil selfie as a kind of "outsider" in terms of the backscratcher matter, but then this updated chart, I am depicted all over the place on this one. I am sad. Not sure if I need to do some self-reflection or just perhaps say "fuck you to you Loyce, and your little chart, too." (that's a modified line from The Wizard of Oz, if anyone wants to put me on a "plagiarism" list, too) hahahahhaha Thanks for the info (as potentially unflattering as it may well be).. #nohomo.

Looks I am all over the place on this chart. I guess it’s inevitable given the amount of merits I have to allocate every month.

Looks I am all over the place on this chart. I guess it’s inevitable given the amount of merits I have to allocate every month. I just saw this thread today and I like the aesthetics. Also it is informative. But despite how clarified the thread is, I am finding it difficult to understand. The numbers in green are your total recieved merits(7650), the red is total sent(18723). What does 596 Merit represent and what is the connection between you and babo?

I guess that number is: min(merits from fillippone to babo; merits from babo to fillippone) I.e. the number of merits babo and myself "exchanged".
