Hey guys  Smiley

We're building something fun with cryptos and memes, I'd like to hear your feedback about it
How many meme reposts have you seen? As memes quantity are increasing, quality is decreasing too.
So we've built funnychain.co, the best quality memes on the web backed up by cryptocurrencies incentives.

On the platform, as every memes are gathering in the fresh page, people get paid by finding the funniest memes.
Everytime a meme is deemed to be popular from our decentralized algorithm, Funnychain is paying both the meme creators and the meme curators in cryptocurrency.
Basically it's like mining in the fresh memes that are the funniest

What do you guys think of it?  Smiley

Don't use a common theme for the website. I have seen this current theme somewhere may be in the themeforest. You are going to do a creative project and everything you do should have a creative touch too. Just my 2 cents. ☺️

Can I say it an image sharing platform? What's the difference?

Thanks for your feedback!  Cheesy

The difference is the incentives in cryptocurrency you get filtering only the best content.
We're taking all the advertisement money on our platform and redistribute it to our users.
So the main difference is that you get paid selecting the best contents on that image sharing platform.

As all the shared images are gathering in the fresh page, the users can also invest on a content they think will become trending/hot, and if the content does go to the hot page, they get more incentives.

What do you think?  Smiley

I’m not sure where you are getting that advertising money from, but to me it really does not sound like you have a sustainable business model here.

People who are genuinely interested in “memes” will simply stick to Reddit/9Gag/w.e, leaving you with essentially people who are doing PTC on your site, without you getting any revenue from it?

Doesn’t seem sustainable at all, but maybe i’m missing something?

This is where we expect something different : while most of the memes today are on these platforms, you get absolutely nothing from it.
We're creating a platform that pays them for their content & time so we are working towards making these people join us.
Everything needs to start somewhere Smiley

The business model is based on sponsored posts to reward our users, but from our side we take a % of the investments on memes and will have a premium subscription like 9gag.  Smiley

The idea here is to create a better and a fair rewarding platform based on memes, as the users are the one creating the platform thus getting incentivized.

Go to WO, (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.0) I'm sure you will see a lot of meme there.  Grin. What's the algorithm though for selecting the best meme?

I would say go for it dude, anything related to crypto will be a big boost no matter how big or small it is. Might take some time to gain support from this community, but it doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Give it time to mature and see how it goes for your "project".

Nice link of the given thread.I do usually read up with Wall observer and those memes can really remove stress even with this bearish market where having interactions between other crypto-enthusiast people.
For feedback it isnt bad to continue this idea but as said this would really takes time to get support.

We have a custom algorithm that's emitting tokens per meme popularity (based on a customized reddit algorithm) that's allowing us to select the best memes

If anyone can give us some feedback of the app itself it'd be awesome too  Cheesy

Good Project Dude! I like it how you've actually implemented it, unlike other ICO shit token schemes. At this point, your website does what it's supposed to on a surface level but you gotta add in more content like different categories, options to save memes and stuff. I couldn't find a meme editor app on the beta version of the website. Are you planning to add that?

Thanks for trying it and the proposed features! Really helps
There actually is a meme editor app: When you go on post a meme, you have "Image" and "Create meme"
The Create memes feature should work, tell me if it doesn't  Cheesy

Got to say I'm with AdolfinWolf here. I occassionally spend an hour or two when I refuse to get out of bed, surf for stupid timewasters like memes and I stick to the same old sites I always have.

You see the problem with incentivised platforms is that people are in it for the gains, and then they find ways to game the system, and then eventually you get a whole load of content that's just fake, or of poor quality, just voted or rising to the top, because they're made by guys who want those incentives. You can see the difference between a hot/trending list on Steemit vs hot/trending on Reddit, for example. Vast difference.

Besides, people can tip meme creators on Reddit.

The ultimate reward, dare I say, for meme creators is viral fame. No different with Bitcoin memes.

Does it have something common with steemit? I post there a picture and the more people view and like it, the more I earn. Yes?

Indeed, but we can take the example of Youtube aswell.
Early days their communication was more towards rewarding youtubeurs for their videos and incentivization helped quality content for them. From this emerged a whole community and it even created the Youtuber job too.
I believe it's more about execution than the idea itself. From the day steemit founder went to EOS, there haven't been much updates ever since.

Does it have something common with steemit? I post there a picture and the more people view and like it, the more I earn. Yes?

Yep it does look similar in a way, we even based our first version on steemit, but having 3 cryptos really made it hard to understand. And as whales messed up steem quite a lot, I didn't think it'd be a long term solution.
So right now we plan on building this on top of Loom!

But yes if the picture you posted gets famous and go to the hot page, you earn cryptos.
And you can also invest on memes, if the meme you invested in goes to the hot page, you get cryptos too depending on how much you've invested.  Smiley

I believe it's more about execution than the idea itself. From the day steemit founder went to EOS, there haven't been much updates ever since.
I can be convinced that execution is the problem too, but I've seen plenty of iterations of Steemit that eventually all went down the same path. And you can see so many other forums and platforms doing something similar, but they simply can't escape the fact that the system, once gameable, slips away. The cost of democratisation?

But yes if the picture you posted gets famous and go to the hot page, you earn cryptos.

Now that's... something a bit new. Wasn't there a FB game back in the day, investing points in "hot pics"? I don't know, fun is fun but I still need to see for myself that this can work for tokenised models!

Yeah that's completely true, I've seen that happen with dMania on the Steem blockchain.
When users are able to earn money for just simply posting any sort of low-quality meme, that's basically what you get.

People don't put any effort in and they're happy with earning a couple of cents for posting and sort of crappy image they've found.

I'm not sure how you could overcome that :-/

It actually can be any kind of content in the future, but we wanted to start by focusing on memes because it's fun and also is the easiest way to convey meaning.  Smiley

But if it works it could actually be applied to pretty much any content yep (news, articles or other).

Yep that's why we don't incentivize anyone, we incentivize posts that become famous and go to the hot page.
Basically every new content goes to the fresh page. Then we have the "meme miners", the people looking at memes. These people looking and selecting the funniest memes upvote and invest on memes.
As you invest, you are staking some tokens on the meme itself so you cannot randomly invest unless your very rich, and i'm not even sure this would be profitable.

So we've made an algorithm that selects the best memes depending on the investments, comments, likes, time posted etc.. (It's still not quite perfect but it's improving) for the hot page.

So while on steemit you get incentivized by how much SP and power you have, here on funnychain we made it so only people that contributed to hot posts get paid, so people curating the platform and posting great memes.

So we think this will overcome that, and quality memes/content only will be on the hot page!  Smiley
