AFAIK there are 2 kinds of Tether, and one is an ERC20, so can be stored on any Eth wallet.

Since i've never used USDT though i don't really know how to say if what you have is an eth token or not...

If you have erc20 usdt, you can store it in ledger nano. If not, I don't know any hardware Wallet that can store omine layer token...

However, I strongly advice you to sell it and buy some Fiat currency. It may be usd or any other.
Usdt is like lending money to bitfinex. This is highly risk and you are not receiving any interest rate for the risk.

if you can want so you have many way exchange from USDT to BTC/ETH/etc.

There are two versions of USDT, one is USDT erc20, another is USDT-Omni.

However, if you look at the block browser: etherscan.io, you will find the exact holder addresses of USDT-ERC20 is not too many--only 2787 addresses.

In contrast, USDT-Omni is more popular and more important for Tether, most of the USDT users are holding USDT-Omni.

Firstly You need to confirm which type of USDT you hold as there are two types USDT (Omni Layer) based on Bitcoin Blockcahin and USDT ( ERC20) based on Ethereum Blockchain and both of them have different ways of storage.

To identity the difference the simplest method is to check the wallet address were they are stored. If the address starts with "0x" it is sure to be a Ethereum based USDT else it is a Omni Based one.

For Omni Layer USDT storage you can use Omni Wallet

For Ethereum Based USDT storage you can use MEW

Please always verify which type of USDT are you dealing with which will help you in not loosing your funds.

Incase you want to store the Omni Layer based USDT, Trezor one Hardware wallet had a recent update that now supports Omni Layer. So you should be able to transfer your coins there without any Issue

For the erc20 version of USDT you can use the nano ledger without problems

if you want to be safe then convert it back to fiat. whether it is the Tether you are talking about or some weird ERC20 token it doesn't matter. neither are safe, the token is probably even less safe especially since it is stealing another coin's name!

you may think Tether is safe because of all the fake promises you have heard but nobody promised any safety ever and the company issuing it is shady enough to not deserve any trust.

A lot of crypto believe tether is a complete scam and they don't even have enough funds to back up their printed USDT.  If you are afraid of volatility just find a way to hold actual US dollars.  You don't want to be left holding worthless tokens if the whole thing collapses.

There are both USDT as ERC20 token and as Omni token. The first works on top of the Ethereum network and the second on top of the Bitcoin network.

You can store USDT ERC20 on your Eth address and access it through a third-party wallet euch as MyEtherWallet without compromising your security, or store the Omni tokens on your BTC address. The problem is that AFAIK, you won’t be able to access the Omni USDT token without revealing your private-keys through your backup seed, so it’s highly not recommended to do that.

There are many other ERC20 stablecoins nowadays like GUSD, USDC, PAX, TUSD. You can keep them with any hardware wallet. BTW you can keep some USDT on different exchanges as well.

keeping coins on exchanges is the least safe thing that you can do with them so when your coins are on binance then you can't say they are safe. binance will be hacked sooner or later. it is only a matter of time like the other dozens of exchanges that either got hacked or scammed their users.
if you don't want to lose your money then cash out.

But don't keep on exchanges if you want to keep your coins for yourself too long period.Just go with the wallet,hardware wallets are best and it is going to cost you few buck or you can store on MEW which is better of small amount of storage and safe as well.

In my opinion, keeping your assets for a very long time on the accounts of the exchange is not the safest option, especially if your deposit is large enough, then the best option for you would be to keep a small amount on the exchange and keep the rest on the hardware wallet.
