Why my thread has been moved to Off-Topic ??

I started reviewing posts and sent two merit points to two users.

Today, i discovered that my thread has been moved to off-topic board, and i can't see my posts in it, in my post history. While the other threads in the list of CryptopreneurBrainboss are still in Beginners & Help board.

I want to know why it's moved? Why i can't see it in my post history? (you can see them in my post history but am not allowed to) and why the other threads didn't removed to Off-topic? If reported, why anybody should report it? and should i continue the GiveAway or stop it?

I can’t find the posts right now, but I remember that this was happening at the beggining of the merit system. Prople were creating this kind of “merit giveaway”, “post review for merit” threads and they started getting moved to the off-topic board.

One of the users complained and a mod said that it was moved for legitimate reasons, but I don’t rwmember what happened in the end (if they allowed those kind of posts in other non-offtopic boards, or if they were going to moce them all everytime).

It’s also weird that from the examples above, only your post got moved. Maybe that happened because someone reported your thread in specific? Anyways, this kind of thread is allowed. Maybe they are in the wrong board, but that should be all.

Pmalek asked theymos about his Merit giveaway thread in Beginners & help board and theymos wasn't against that and he didn't said that thread should be moved to off-topic. I don't that your thread is different. But there are many similar topics in past were moved to off-topic. I think that problem that there are no specific rule about such kind of threads and mods can interpret by their views based on existing rules.

I think some Mods decide these things based on many factors, the type of breakfast they had could be one of the reasons, i can't tell for sure, your topic is very similar to mine , mine has been there for a while,nobody bothered moving it. i don't know the reason why to be honest, and i doubt you will get a very straight-forward answer , the only thing that might happen is that they will move my topic to off-topics too , which if would make you feel any better, i will do it myself

B and H board do not have any active moderator. I guess somebody used "Report to Moderator" button on your thread that cause Mod to move it. For rest of the topic might be nobody reported them. But surprisingly there are 3 more topics I know ,existing there created before your topic creation.

I'm not sure that merit giveaways are a good idea. Although the merit system was created to reward good posting, it was also intended to encourage new quality posting. I believe it is best for the forum if merits are used to encourage the creation of new quality threads and posts. This will help the board to grow and continue to offer up to date news and help for members. Perhaps a restriction that merits will only be awarded for posts made after the thread creation date would encourage this.

Giveaways threads are now been started in the numbers and most intentions are to recieve merit from other supporting users without actually giving away merit as they claimed when starting threads. I did the Active giveaway thread to support users, looking for those giveaway thread for their quality post that must have been missed.

I can't remember reporting your thread but I have reported other giveaways thread and they were moved to the off-topic board. I believe all merit giveaway should be in the off-topic and local board. Then an update like the one i created can be in B&H board to help those users interested for easy navigation. The B&H board is getting crowded by givewaways threads which isn't heathly for the board.

Since my name was mentioned here I feel I should say something.
My thread that was mentioned has several rules that make it different from other threads, now I dont know if some of them have updated their rules but feel free to take a look at the rules I have in my thread. Take a look at rule 3. Maybe this is what theymos meant with "incentivized posting".
I only check posts made prior to creating my thread in order to not encourage users to start spamming different boards after seeing my thread and then come and ask for merits. The deadline was initially set at 16.12.2018 but later, and again with theymos permission, I updated the deadline and set it at 31.12.2018. Also, I check user's posting history and if a majority of the posts are bounty related and only a few (counting the ones that were posted in my thread) aren't, no merit will be given. During these checks I have also found several copy/pasters and other rule breakers.   
Also, it is not a merit giveaway thread like somebody suggested. It is a way meant to help the two lowest ranks gain their first merits and have their posts appreciated because not everyone is a bounty spammer/shit poster just because he is a Newbie. Unfortunately, most are.

RULES:



1. In order to apply you need to have an activity level of 30 if you are a Newbie or 60 if you are a Jr. Member
2. Send me direct links to your posts that you believe deserve to be merited. 3 posts per user MAX.
3. Your posts had to be written before 31/12/2018. Any posts after this date will not be considered.
4. No merit begging, merit requesting, proposing to buy/trade merits in any way. NO PMs, if you send me a PM proposing any of this I will not consider your application, your post/pm will be made public and reported to Mods.
5. I will only consider Newbie/Jr. Members who are making any kind of quality contributions to the forum. I have nothing against bounty campaigns BUT if 99% of your posts are in the Altcoin > Bounty Section / Thread Bumps / Off topic posts / Low quality / Spam / Nice project, good luck type of posts / you will not be considered.
6. Only NEWBIE/JR. MEMBER Accounts will be considered, no other ranks.
7. Only posts written in decent English will be considered, NO posts from Local Boards.

I don't think there is a valid reason to move my topic. If it's against one single rule statement so am breaking rules and thread should be deleted and me punshed, if not, at least give me the reason. (Can't understand the case of the similar threads to mine who are still in B and H)
I was intended that my thread will be appreciated by community, specially Moderators but it seems that am getting wrong again.
I was also waiting for a response from a Moderator but i think they are busy all the time even in boards where there is no moderation (like B and H)

I will review latest posts then closing the thread: as i don't think anybody can find my thread in off-topic and i can't find it in my post history.

I will also close this thread tonight (may be someone want to say something about)

When you have a particular board on ignore, it will be completely inaccessible to you, that means your previous post written or moved to that board won't show in your post history until you un-ignore the board from your Ignore Boards Preferences settings.

Most merit related threads are moved to off-topic when they become numerous in meta and B&H. Beside you can carryout your givewaway from any board so why lock topic if truly you wanted to help members which their quality posts are been missed by meriters. Your thread is already in my active merit giveaway topic so no matter the board it's been moved to you can still carryout your giveaways and get participates from the B&H board.

Probably because the people hanging out in the Off-topic section is not the group of people who need merits or have meritable posts.

Here is the problem I find with this part of your post that I quoted. You are saying that merit threads should not be allowed in the B&H but your topic advertising those threads should be allowed.
I am sorry but that is like saying selling weapons is not allowed on BT but hey I have this thread where I can tell you who is selling weapons and how to buy them and what you need for the purchase.

I opened my thread in the B&H because that is the place where new users come seeking help and advice. The audience in Off-topic is not.

So you are reporting these threads to keep them away, thus, your thread can get more merits!! This is really a selfish act.

Members are meriting those threads because they don't have enough time to look for good posts by themselves.
Can you give us some examples where OPs received merits and didn't distribute it to support your claims.

Here is the problem I find with this part of your post that I quoted. You are saying that merit threads should not be allowed in the B&H but your topic advertising those threads should be allowed.

Let me explain with an example when the new one merit requirement was implemented for jnr member accounts, it affected every jnr member right?  Both spammer and decent poster. Now after you created your thread it attracted others, both those with selfish intentions and those willing to help. So as mods can't differentiate between them, moving those topic off the B&H will be the best option irrespective of the OP's intention. Mods have been doing this for sometime now. I'm not saying givewaways threads are bad but when it take up space for more productive disscussion it should be moved to a less productive board.  Remember participates just need to post links and no need for discussion therefore they can follow the link in my updated giveaways thread and post a link to a post they feel desire merit. One or two can be left on the board and others moved to other boards.

This way the B&H will have more room for disscussion. by the way I think these giveaways threads drives away merit source searching for merited posts on the board since they'll feel the givewaways got the board covered. And most of them might put the board on ignore since they don't encourage givewaways threads (just like jet cash) and the B&H boards are filled with them.

Please don't edit my replies and miss quote me. The last time I reported a giveaway was Sept 2018 and they all got moved to off-topic. Like I said I'm not against any giveaways and haven't reported any of recent. I'm even in support of them but when they become too many on a particular board, it'll distract the board participates so moving them to other board will be the best option.

Besides my earned merit aren't dominanted by my giveaway update thread so it's doing me no good, I didn't do it to get merits instead I did it so other can benefit as I benefited from the Report to Merit source initialtive

This is either a language problem or selfishness to wanting to keep only your thread there.

However , you have not admitted to any of these but i would like to assume it's simply a matter of a poor choice of words from your side and call it a day.


now back to your original claim that most of us who start these giveaway threads do it for self-interest of getting merit, i have to strongly disagree with you, i for example promised to give 10 merit on my topic and 10 merits were given to newbies and jr members.  I have not monitored other threads but i am willing to bet that your claim is false and discouraging, and if you are certain about your claims then support them with evidence.

I for example took the time and effort to support the low rank members, you have no idea how much of an effort it takes to read tons of shitposts to find 1 good post that deserve a merit, and i am sure others feel the same way, so your claim is pretty lame to say the least.


as far as why i think such topics must be in B&H is because those low rank members usually use that board much more than off-topic , this is at least what i think.

however i personally wouldn't mind if my topic was moved elsewhere.

I was misunderstood. Lets call it a day. Just to clear things up,  the reporting of giveaway thread to be moved were done in September 2018. I gave that example to make OP understand that when a merit related threads gets reported normally it's moved to off-topic. Also the earlier giveaway thread are OK that's why I even have to do a list so user can access them easily. All I'm saying is the B&H board shouldn't be a hunting ground for giveaways so we can have more room for other discussion. Other boards can be used to host the giveaways and those interested will get a update from Active givewaways threads
