This project has been around and in talks on various forums since July of 2018. We are only now releasing a coin as some grin enthusiast prefer not to use PoW models for various reasons.

Yes, that's kind of the point. We like the concept of Grin but the inherit trust involved is for many not appealing. As you may have read, we believe the privacy aspect should come from the places users spend their cryptocurrency and not so much so the cryptocurrency itself. This is why we intend to build platforms designed to give privacy to the user, as much or as little as they prefer. This is why the Grin name is used.

Because we want the privacy of Grin, only in our platforms instead of in our coin. Our platforms will also accept Grin as payment. Additionally, many people don't have the equipment to mine grin and would like an alternative that connects them to the Grin community.

So a crowd sale instead?  Without reading the white paper how much is the premine, I mean crowdsale?  And what amount of block rewards are left.

MW is based off BTC, but Grin still didn't call themselves BTCMW or BTCGrin despite the instant name recognition that would have brought. But then, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery...
