There are a lot of practical difficulties in implementing decentralization concepts. We start from decentralized exchanges to explain in better way. Even in decentralized exchanges we are needing to trust a centralized authority and at the time of actual exchange we need to hand over funds into that authority. So that we still need to pay a fees for exchanges. Similarly we cannot expect a decentralized gambling environment where we will not be having any house edge. It will be there for sure.

Playing against your friend or colleague must be the real way of having be centralized gambling as there will be no one there to control you both and you will never need to pay any fee in the name of house edge.
