New Zealand Police continue to excellently investigate the Cryptopia hack that took place on Monday, January 24, 2019. Via an official press release, the Police revealed on Feb 7, that the probe is progressing on well. Cryptopia is a cryptoasset exchange that is based in New Zealand.

unless it was an inside job and the employee is still in NZ, that's probably not gonna happen. the money is gone. just ask mt gox victims how easy it is to claw stolen money back in a crypto heist.

it's too bad, the timing of it all. i'll bet if this happened during the altcoin boom, they could have easily crowdfunded a recovery (bitfinex style). everyone wanted into the market back then. at this point, there's little chances of that happening.

There was a report that they already liquidated a few million dollars worth of crypto. Chances of getting that back is pretty slim. If they were in cold storage then it must be an inside job, Cryptopia is a solid exchange

The Authorities reacted very fast to this incident and this impressed me a lot. I am sure that they are going to catch the hackers soon. And by reading this news I am now assured that New Zealand is the best country to set up your own firm as you are totally protected from the laws and the government. Even more, if you are a company related to the cryptocurrency industry.
