There is always space in any market for new entrants, its possible to break into the market, but you have to have a well laid down plan and a means to achieving that.
Starting an exchange would require funds, quailty website devs and marketing managers.

all possibilities can happen and no one can predict if indeed a new coin can meet and be of good quality and profitable for its investors I think the development of crypto currency coins depends on its investors

crypto development now depends on the situation that is happening. if the crypto condition deteriorates, it is likely that the price will decline. so of course we must know that if the price increases, the crypto condition is improving.

Unless your friend has a huge advertising budget he will be wasting his time.  There is a ton of competition for exchanges to bring in customers.  He will have to go against all the established giants and it will be an uphill battle to say the least.

Nothing is impossible in cryptocurrency. Your friend has a lot of courage to develop such unique exchange. But take note that there is no guarantee that it will become successful in the market since there are so many competitors nowadays. The only difference between the existing and the new ones is the advantage they get by being utilized more often because people have already trusted them so. In any market there is always room for more players, I agree with you on that, but I do not agree with your notion that you do not need a new idea to be successful in the market, if someone releases an exchange without any innovation and that doesn't perform any better than the existing exchanges then why we would use it? Why take your chances with a new exchange that has no reputation and that could steal your coins when you can use an exchange with a very strong reputation?

There are numerous exchange platforms in the cryptosphere already and it would not be advisable to develop a new one at the moment because most crypto enthusiasts would still prefer to trade on exchanges that have develop trust for over the years. A week ago i've met a person, who's working on a new exchange. They've  been developing it for a couple of yers now and, from his words, it  seemed pretty cool. I can't say for sure whether i think it's a legit  idea or not. I think this is not a good time to develop a trading floor in the best way. because big exchanges now have a lot of market share and not too much for new exchanges.
But if you want to develop it effectively, take a 3% stake in the company to develop your trading platform project for everyone in the world to know. If your trading platform is good enough and there are many large partners, your trading floor will have a good future.

I agree with your assessment, the competition is very stiff, in fact, there are ICO based exchanged that did not meet their softcap, paused and stopped operation one example is LBX, IRONX reach its softcap but having a hard time with their volume and you need a continuous marketing to create full awareness of the exchange.

Agree, if an exchange is only developed and based on the old exchanges, it will not be competitive in the market, and over time, that exchange will close because people here are users, and if the new product does not improve and outperforms the old product, they do not need to convert to a new product, it is a waste of time and is not guaranteed. Therefore, we can easily understand that this market does not lack the position for new exchanges but it is important that new exchanges will need great effort and breakthrough to have a position in the market.

Its been a while that it touches $5k and it keeps moving. This will give some insights that 2019 will be showing full market recovery.
We are still in the 2nd quarter and it for sure it have many changes across before we end up this year. Might possible that early this year we will see bull run again.

i know in some exchanger, they offer some coin if you want to pass their kyc. maybe many people just use that advantage to take profit from free coin, but its good to raise it volume. than just how to make people stay in there

If the exchange has good security and an easy way of working maybe people will be interested but if the way of working is difficult and the security is not maintained maybe people think more about it.

Security do always matter when we do talk about new exchangers even on the old ones but this market is somehow saturated or lets say there are already lots
of new exchangers which i do see that we wont need anymore of it.Its enough to see a hundred and adding up wouldnt really be necessary at all.

Yes why not some big exchanges now were made on 2017-2018 so i dont think its a big problem but if exchanges will make something new then chaces are much more to get news users from other exchanges and even new one from not crypto space everything is possible so owners must do their best create new ideas.

Regarding the entrance of new exchanges, it is a fact that it going to take sometime and mostly importantly they should rather focus on getting a cut of the cake until they have all what it takes to compete with the big guys. If the project seeks to introduce new featuree and business model i guess with time things will be fine.

Creating a platform is nice. But it still needs to be advertised. And if you plan to attract a large audience, you will need a small budget for this. Otherwise, the project will simply close.

There is always a chance for a new exchange to compete in the market.  Being the first one does not guarantee that it will stay on top.  As one of the examples of a reply here, look at Binance,  it is a new exchange and yet it surpasses exchanges that are older than it.  What it takes is to reach out to its customer and meet their demands and expectation while securing their accounts.  The new exchange must establish itself first to have a chance to at least level to the top tier exchange in the crypto industry.
