I've created this thread to show appreciation to ICOEthics. They have been doing an amazing job tracking down scam ICOs and warning the community of their fraudulent behaviour. Their reports are well substantiated and they seem to be putting a lot of time and efforts into their research.

Everything is documented on their website, www.icoethics.com. I suggest that they add a donation address because they definitely deserve a few tips. Thanks for the work you do!

Yea exactly, his team working hard to expose scams. I believe he have saved lots of people's from scammers. He deserve donations. I am wondering to ask SFR10 to create a signature for ICOEthics since he had not joined any paid signature campaign. So people's will find scam ICO's and his address as well. If someone want to donate they can.

To be honest, multiple managers and DT1 also suggest me to open service with a team who are exposing scam ICO actively.  Manager will ask for verify like team, whitpaper and others content before they start any project. Ofcourse they should pay small fee for that. I have also discussed with ICOEthics about it and he is agree for that. But I am not much encourage now due to exit scam. Even team and whitepaper etc is real, who will responsible for exit scam? Eventually people's will blame us, how we are investigate ICO.
However it would be better if send some donations to ICOEthics and his team will more encourage to work. As far as I know he have team with four member to investigate ICO's. We need this kind of member to save people's.

Edit;
I can't find donation address on website. I have asked him to provide.

I loved the way people like coinlocket$, you, ICOEthics, Veleor, xtraelv and others are putting your efforts and time into investigation. But I don't think you or any investigators who are truly dedicated should be asking for a fee for investigation unless your investigation requires you to go through some services for which you have paid. However donations is fine.

I would set an example to prove my point:

Suppose a thief snatches purse from a lady and you are just close to the incident. Instead of running after him would you ask the lady for a fee before trying to catch the thief? Sounds immoral right. And that's the stuff that a so called-protector in gambling section (game-protect) have been doing.

You and game-protect would have no difference except for trolling and the trust ratings(if you start taking fee).

Just wanted my feeling to be placed out and I still respect the way you been helping the community.

The lack of fees are exactly why I suggested donations. Fees would technically mean that ICOs could bribe them to write bad reports on rivals. Their work so far has been selfless and deserves a reward imo.

Agree with you, that's why I avoid this kind of suggestions. I just spend free time to expose scammers. I have a job and I am stay in abroad so I can't sit on PC much time. That's why I can't take it professionally. On the other hand I never want to raise questions like bribe etc. So it's better for me just spend my free time expose scammers.
However OP mentioned donation and I am agree with him, ICOEthics team deserve it. Hope he will continue his work to keep clean this forum.

Insults and death threats will keep on coming. Treat them as confirmation of blow to their greedy intentions. Let them frustrate as much as they want.

I myself had received insults while going after everaja/FriendlyChemist investigation. It only encouraged me way back then  Grin.

Pretty much agree
IMO seeking and exhibiting scams should remain an essentially voluntary and community activity. A way to thank the forum and its members
This is the beginning of a dangerous path: and why not offer a "Premium+" paid service (some ICOs already offer this type of service in fact, and ask to be paid) ?
What happen in case of exit scam? (it's undetectable, teams can be real, white papers original and projects strong ...)

By remaining volunteer and disinterested members who do scam-hunting only take the risk of being insulted or threatened
But at least there will be no suspicion of conflicts of interest

To be perfectly honest, I even think it's uncomfortable to do scam-hunting on a regular basis with an ICO signature...
Some new members could assume that the project is somehow "validated" by members of the forum who are supposed to be more effective....which is not necessarily the case!

but it's my personal perception, not a criticism

Very true. They're doing a great job.
At first, I thought they must have an agenda or something but no they're clearly doing this just for the good of the community.
Plus they've inspired others to do the same.
Good for them !

Here is the address of ICOEthics,
Here is the ETH address:  0x53B9dAEd9FD4B169A2eA5113aa603b3c613d93dB
@OP can you please update on the main thread with this address ? So if someone want to donate they can. I think we can encourage his team for more active by donate few ETH. Please don't take it negative, he didn't ask for fee or any kind of donation. Since OP made thread that's why I asked him to provide address. But he deserve something from us. Hope someone will help them.

SFR10 offline few days, someone else can create a signature for ICOEthics? With donation address and with his website?

Edit;

Can you ask them to post it here or PM me? It's not that I don't trust you but I prefer to hear the address directly from them Grin.

Curious what is the password on the tools on ICOEthics website. I want to know more how they deal to expose those filthy bastard's that suck people's money by running fraudulent projects. Awareness should always be at hand.

I will try to make a signature somehow if I can manage, I am trying to learn this skill. Will update this reply when finished.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the long reply, but we hope this post will explain our views regarding donations.

ICOEthics has been a member of this forum since June of 2018, and we have never asked for donations on this forum! What we do, we do for the community.
But donations are welcome, as we do have expenses. The donation address is the one provided to Coolcryptovator (0x53B9dAEd9FD4B169A2eA5113aa603b3c613d93dB)

We always did FREE work and we will continue to do FREE work for the community.

We have detected around 300 scams and never asked for anything. We are not in this for money or merits (we are sure people in this forum will agree), but here to help identify possible scams. Many of them are completely disrespectful and soulless ( for example; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5099131.0 )

We don’t promote anything about ICOEthics website.  We use it mainly to store files that we use on our posts/threads on this forum. We don’t have much time to keep it up or develop since we have our regular jobs as well. We try to update the site once a week or two, or more.  Sad

Our main focus is to find what is fake, which leads to a possible scam and expose them (fake team, plagiarized whitepaper, etc). One of the best sources to expose them is Bitcointalk, of course, and Twitter.

As many of you already know we have been called many bad names, accused of extortion, racism, discrimination, etc. We have also received proposals for bribes, which we always post them on the forum, so we all can laugh together - death threats, virus sent to our email (caught), etc.

So, to make this a short story, this is our concern about asking for donations, and we welcome the community's input: A scammer can make a deposit to our donation address and accuse us that this was a bribe/extortion money, and to avoid all that hassle we have stopped asking for donations on our website.

Finally, many thanks to you, rhomelmabini, for the signature that you created for us!  As far as adding our donation address to the signature, we as a team will consider that.

Thanks for your reply. I'll add your donation address to the OP. Do you happen to have a BTC address for donations as well?

Regarding the signature, I suggest to remove the donations from them. Any scammer (very ironically) could start wearing that signature and add his own addresses there.

So, to make this a short story, this is our concern about asking for donations, and we welcome the community's input: A scammer can make a deposit to our donation address and accuse us that this was a bribe/extortion money, and to avoid all that hassle we have stopped asking for donations on our website.

Very true, that's a valid concern although you guys have created a very strong reputation for your team that anyone from forum will believe such an accusations but inexperienced guests of forum could.

When a fund is sent to a donation address it's considered as a donation irrespective of what the motives behind the transaction was. So again, scammers who'll try to take advantage of the donation address for wrong accusations will just be wasting their time and it'll earn them more RED TAGS.

I agree that ICOEthics is a huge asset to this forum. Just the sheer number of reliable scam identifications and relentless tagging without getting into forum politics is the type of values needed on DT1.

The tools listed on the website for investigating scams are also very useful.

We are surrounded by legends on this forum. Phenomenal successes and catastrophic failures. Then there are the scams. This forum is a digital museum.

I just want to +1 this thread -- supreme research and dedication to the art of ICO busting.

I notice that every time I open the Announcement section for Altcoins, I can usually find 2 scams on the first page, right off the bat. But taking the time to actually write up your findings in a logical manner that more or less makes proof out of evidence is another step I usually don't take.

There's definitely a need for such activity as, even though markets were bearing during all of 2018, ICO scams have been on the rise.

Kudos to them for a job done well.
