Hey guys,

apparently, Bitmain released a new firmware that makes Antminer Z9 work with Nicehash. I was just considering buying one and would like to know if it actually works.

Can someone confirm that Z9 works normally on NH now?

According to this old source: https://www.reddit.com/r/NiceHash/comments/8tr020/mining_with_bitmain_z9_mini_to_nicehash/ you could make it work with nicehash but with a lot of rejected shares. That seemed to be prior to the firmware update. I don't own Z9 so I have no idea if they have fixed the issue by now. Just curious, why would you want to go via nicehash and not plug it to some pool?

My firmware version 2.2 for Z9 works with nicehash. Please be sure to use #xnsub.

See my signature if you are not aware of my firmware.

This doesn't work for the mini yet correct and are you still planning on adding nicehash support to the mini just wondering

It is on my todo list, which is longer than I have time for to be honest. That said someone did just send me a mini back for me to do some more testing as I can find some time.

With that said, my Z9 image will functionally work with a mini in the current state, but there are some caveats. It’ll take longer to start up because cgminer actually is to fail to find the 16 ASICS it expects per hashboard before defaulting to just trying to start up. Additionally I would not expect fan and/or temp reporting to be correct, even if that infrastructure is working properly behind the scenes.

the asic should be fine. i'd be more worried about zcash and/or other equihash coins forking therefore affecting the purchasing of hash power from nicehash resulting in negating the effectiveness of the asic itself within nicehash (if you plan to not mine coins directly with the asic vs pointing the hashing power to nicehash).
