I need some cash and I was thinking about selling one of my Casascius coins...  Just wondering with the current BTC market is.  I've been MIA on here for a while.  Here's a picture:

Thanks for the responses...  Any idea what it would get at auction? I'm having trouble finding any recent examples to go from and with the wild price fluctuations, I don't want to look too far back because I don't think those would be indicative if the price is delineated in BTC.

I would believe the auction would be anywhere between 1.25-1.55

I agree with this range.  1.25 might be a little low since the s2's dont come up that often, I would narrow it to 1.4 to 1.55 probably.  But again not many sales lately, depends if people are hoarding digital or not.  Either way....auction start at face  Cheesy

Market would verify obv, but I'd ask ~1.88 BTC for this coin. Could agree few bitcents down with firm buyer.

I highly disagree as well. I think you’d get a good deal already at 1.4btc

That's the money spot for rarer brass singles right now with silvers going for 1.8-2.  The wildcard would be getting a bidding war between people collecting this since they dont come up all that often, but its definately a buyer's market right now

Appreciate your comments guys. Still I can't wrap my head around how 1.4 for this is a good deal. Sounds to me like something maybe-OK if I were about to sell quickly. Is there really that many sellers (generally all Casascius seem to come up on forum only once in a while) or just lack of buyers?

same type of coin sold on ebay about a month ago. he was desperate to sell and kept lowering his price. he probably took $5500 for it.

$5500/$3800= 1.44BTC  Grin

Less ebay and paypal's combined 13%, so 1.25 btc to the seller.

Maybe not a dealbreaker, but that was MS62. Front of that coin seem to look bit rough, while OP's MS 65 sounds like standard/OK grade for a 2011 S2 brass.

It truly is not that difficult to spend a little time doing some research on this forum to see what they had been selling for.  The last two Cas 2011 “errors” went for 1.25BTC and 1.2BTC in this buyers market.  I understand it’s not an S2, so ~1.4BTC seems to be the money.  It’s unfortunate you can’t “wrap your head around it.”  If the research doesn’t help you, maybe you should put yours up for 1.88BTC and see for yourself?

It's easy really, btc premiums for cas coins lowered as btc usd value went up.  I am someone who expects that to change but that's the reality right now.

Well I guess I'll accept the reality.

Looking at the archival topics, I suppose BTC-denominated prices went down with rising bitcoin, but does it look like they stayed there since and haven't really went up with BTC price going down?
