That's mainly because of posts on our local board, where he does a great job. He is constantly opening new threads, responding to threads opened by others and giving merit to the constructive posts of those of us who post there. As I think I said, I think we owe a lot of the traffic on the Spanish board to him.

And I don't really care, I was joking. Once I've reached Hero member, I hope to continue gaining some merits little by little and at some point reach Legendary but I'm quite satisfied already.

Seniors who are legendary all have posts on all boards which are very helpful posts. Here you can see legends have more informative posts in their posts than smaller ones. And senior brothers are also responding to the posts of those who are posting. I hope to become a legend after I reach the hero stage here, and with the help of the senior brothers, I think my hope will come true.

I had the feeling that I had received more merits this time and I see that this is the case, being the ones who have received the most, active members of the Spanish section, which, on the other hand, is normal for the time that DdmrDdmr spends there.

Logging into the forum and accessing the first page to send merit should take 1 second each. The reason for this is that it is good practice to limit the rate you access pages via automation to one per second, which is a rate that Theymos has previously requested that members limit their scripts to.

Querying his db will take some non-zero amount of time.

Does anyone know if merit sources' smerits expired yesterday? Yesterday, apart from DdmrDdmr, paxmao gave me a few merits as well. I know he is also a merit source and that's why I was wondering, although being day 18 I find it strange, I guess it's a coincidence. In any case, 21 merits in one day is not bad.

The essence of the matter is that source smerits expire exactly 30 days after they are awarded if they are not used, so how frequently the source smerits come in for any merit source relates to his/her spending behavior, so if s/he spends in large chunks, then the smerits will come in in large chunks.... To me, it seems that it would be a bit easier to try to build a reasonable inference that merit source smerits are coming in rather than to try to figure out the more complicated case about whether such merit source had not been spending smerits fast enough in order that they are coming due to expire.

If you believe someone is a merit source, and if you are stalking such merit source (I am not recommending this), then you might be able to figure out how many smerits that s/he has coming available for spending at any given time just by looking at 30 days worth of merit spending history.  Another thing is that source merits get spent prior to regular merits, so it is a bit more difficult to know whether any specific smerit that had been spent had come from the source smerits or from the regular bank (and of course, regular bank smerits are not renewed but instead awarded 1/2 based on received smerits).

There are likely some additional tools (such as tryninja's merit tab) that are out there too for trying to verify source merits that might be available, but of course, you can also get some pretty good senses of how many source merits are coming available to merit source members just by looking at when their spent merits are 30 days old.

By the way, Paxmao's merit spending is not very high, so I have doubts about whether he is even a merit source..  He may well have just been spending from his smerit bank.  https://ninjastic.space/user/paxmao

I'm speaking from memory but I think years ago he applied for merit source from the local Spanish section, and it sounds to me like he was appointed. Looking online, I see that in June 2018 he was listed as the 29th most generous user and the last update was 27th. Maybe if he didn't spend a lot of merits, they reduced his allocation but he does seem to be a merit source.

Ok.  I see what you are saying.  I think that I misread that tryninja link that I had posted in response to your post, because on a superficial level it had appeared to me that Paxmao tends to send his merits in short bursts rather than spreading them out - which tends to be closer to what I attempt to do (compare mine here), and yes from that "most generous" thread that you mentioned, since near the beginning of the merit system, Coin-1 (OP) has been attempting to identify who he believes to be merit source members based on the quantity of smerits that members were sending out and also if there might be other information in which some members claim (or admit) to be a merit source (or if there is information that they are NO longer a merit source).. so you are right about both Paxmao's recent quantity of smerits sent per month and his overall quantity of smerit sent causing him to be around 29th-ish on the overall list, which is the first post of the thread, that shows Paxmao to be suspected as a merit source.. of course, he is 29th on that list and his name is bolded.. so the inferences of his being a merit source is pretty strong, if that were the ONLY information to go by... but sure, there may be other sources of information as to when he became a merit source, as you mentioned.
