[Proposal] Change The Moderator of Beginners & Help

Moderator MiningBuddy is almost gone for a year,
Last Active:   April 04, 2018, 01:24:05 PM

Although we have Global Moderators to still moderate it, I think it should also still atleast have a specific Mod for that Board just like the others.


And if you'll gonna ask me who can be the Mod, I really can't answer that for I don't have any good idea on whom is fit to be one.

I haven't visited B&H in quite some time and have it on ignore, but I think moderating that section would be one hell of a job.  That's probably why the mod hasn't been active since last year (lol).

Don't know if Theymos is even looking for a new moderator for B&H, but the first person who comes to mind for the job is Jet Cash.  I know he at least visits it and reads posts there, since he's commented quite frequently about it and I know he likes to help new members.  He's got my vote, but whether he's interested or not is another story.

I don't think he wants another board on top of being Global Mod.

I expect Jet Cash to set very high standards, I would love to see that happen, but don't think it's realistic for Beginners.

The man at the top (Loycev) can be one of the best candidate if theymos want B&H section to be highly moderated.

I didn't see hilariousandco for a while on the discussion,so this is right time to allocate a separate mod on that section.

I think pretty much every board (or group of boards) should have an active named moderator (or two), separate from the wider global moderator team. This would cut down on spam, whilst also freeing up global mods to deal with more important issues like plagiarizers and links to malware or phishing.

It would be a good first step to see reporter statistics for the B&H board. As mentioned though, it doesn't seem to be a priority for theymos at the moment though.

Even if he's not on the discussions, it doesn't mean that he's not active or what, as I've seen his profile (and still watching it though) his pretty staying quiet as a mod.

And yeah, I've been missing seeing his Lambo in quite a while now

You made great suggestion for LoyceV, who is the celebrity and most trusted in the forum despite of his trust point is not too high compared to others.
I guess it is mainly because he has not managed many campaigns, and don't exchange directly with others.
His wins in the ChipMixer campaign almost everyweek tell us everything.
Nevertheless, I doubt that LoyceV will take the task as forum moderators.
He is likely have more interests in his own statistical analyses.  
I had to wait more months till the day LoyceV decided to help me with weekly merit data dumps.
From that day, merits started coming to me more regularly.

LoyceV is one of the perfect candidates if he agrees and unless theymos consider activity on that board for being a moderator. I don't think LoyceV has much activity there and I have a feeling that he is not much interested in that board. However, IIRC, We had a poll where people had voted for possible moderators and Coolcryptovator was the creator of that thread. that can help a little bit more.

Lauda was actually a Moderator/Global Moderator (I can't remember) back in the old days.  AFAIK, she left/was removed by theymos.

Can what? I can already moderate that and every other section as a Global. It does need a dedicated mod though, just like several other sections do. MiningBuddy may still be listed there but he hasn't been a mod for quite some time. Theymos just hasn't removed his name from there.

Why does it take so long to remove inactive Mods? I understand that it is difficult to add new mods, but an inactive Mod ends up being a risk as well.

btw, The last mods were chosen by activities, reports in the section that needed moderation. It is not necessary for some people to start saying which user they prefer as Mod...

As I said, he was removed as a mod a long time ago. Theymos just hasn't removed his name from there and only he can do that. It's the same with the Press board.

If the board wants a dedicated moderator we need the Report Statistics from theymos first. That would help us to narrow down the member for the position. Jet Cash seems to be very active in that board, but is he really interested in the position and does he report the posts quite often matters first. I don't visit the board very often, but it does seem to be better for the discussions to take place and doesn't sound like a frog pond for spams in my opinion.

Posting is different from moderating and being active. Many people seems to be missing that point! You don't need to post as much but reporting should be done for a person to get considered for that board!

Another member that comes to the mind is LoyceV, but @LoyceV do you report much in that section? If they aren't interested in reporting spams in that section, they wouldn't do good as a moderator there probably!

I am confused at this for long time!

What if a member reports hundreds and thousands of posts in just one section, but has never posted in that section? Will he be considered as a MOD?

Very active in different sections of the forum ; Jet Cash is nice suggestion: really helpful.  Should be considered and appointed provided he is interested.

We have nearly the same problem in the German board !
But there is no Mod at the moment and i guess it depends on how much Spam and reports are done there .
At the moment in the german board reports get processed by a Global Mod .
In my opinion, the beginner board should have a moderator as it is the first port of call for many new users!
So Global Mods havnt to deal with that there as long there are no Ban reports , and they have time for the important things in the Forum !

Thanks for the endorsements However, Mods are often picked from users who make a lot of valid reports on the board, and I haven't reported much on Beginners & Help. I tend to avoid it because of the current low quality.
I wouldn't mind doing my share in changing that though.

Nevertheless, I doubt that LoyceV will take the task as forum moderators.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you really don't want me as a mod. Apart from the fact that I still have a bunch of members on ignore ( I really must go through that list soon ), I'm quite erratic, and I have some positive views that conflict with those of several members. For example, I would move all the bounty stuff off the board.

I'm also quite keen to set up an experiment with the new forum software, so I doubt if I would have the time to be effective.
