Solo (XSL) is a scalability and privacy focused cryptocurrency which concentrates on being pool, ASIC, GPU and NiceHash resistant while scaling better on low to mid range CPUs than most CN PoW variants.  The proof-of-work function guarantees egalitarian voting, so that none of the participants can utilize special purpose devices to obtain an excessive voting advantage.

* PoW algorithm: CN-IO
* Protocols: RingCT, CryptoNote, LWMA, Full Bulletproofs, SECOR
* Max supply: ~18.4 Billion before tail emission
* Block reward: Adaptive (see below)
* Block time: 20 seconds
* Difficulty: Re-targets at every block
* Genesis block:  11/2/2018, 8:00:54 AM UTC
* Premine: 70368.744177663 (see below)
* Version: v1.1.0.1 'Carbonite'

Block Reward
Adaptive Reward based on historical data - emission formula slightly decreases block reward each block as a function of all coinbase transaction amounts previously generated. Reward for blocks 1-88,000 based on a speed factor per minute of 22, resulting in a reward ranging from 549.755797504 to 548.315910839. Reward for blocks 88,001 and greater based on a speed factor per minute of 25, resulting in a reward starting at 4,386.527155990 at block 88,001. See the latest block coinbase transaction amount for the current block reward.  Solo's emission schedule is slower than bitcoin and does not include disruptive halving events.

Funding
All current infrastructure costs have been paid out of personal funds, with no ICO and no crowd funding.

Premine and Early Contributions
Solo is a continuation of a side project started by NERVA developer angrywasp and included a pre-mine of ~70,368, representing 0.00038% of the total supply. At block 66001 a hard fork was activated, after this time the founder no longer participated in development. At the time of the fork ~36,318,207 coins had been minted representing ~0.196% of the total supply.

Mining
--mining-threads=0 will attempt to autodetect the correct # of threads to mine with, this is a good baseline but you can also try setting +1 CPU thread per CPU thread, and even try higher to see if hashrate increases.  If you GPU mine another coin you may need to leave an additional thread to be sure to not bottleneck your GPUs.

Example .bat for Windows:
solod.exe --start-mining {address} --mining-threads 0

Example .sh for Linux:
./solod --start-mining {address} --mining-threads 0

not sure what would cause that but you can sync the whole blockchain in solod without bootstrapping.

Not sure how old your i5 is and how many cores it has, but my 2 year old laptop with a dual core i7 gets ~1.9kH/s, with the network at ~700kH/s that is enough for about 4 blocks a day.

On April 10th (block 227001) we will hardfork to v15 which will include Bulletproofs V2, SECOR (Uncle mining), 20 second block target time, and MINED_MONEY_UNLOCK_WINDOW_V2=1000.  We are now blocking v1.0.3.4 and earlier, and after the hardfork only v1.0.3.5 will be allowed on the network.  Miners can update ahead of time to prepare, and expect no interruption in service.  As the block target time is 1/3 of the current block target (60s), the reward will be 1/3 the current block reward and thus the emission curve remains the same.

How is the hard fork update coming along? Will it be ready on the 10th as promised? I was a little skeptical about mining this at first but so far so good. Everything seems to be very stable!

The hardfork is already scheduled on mainnet and will activate at block 227001, this should happen some time on April 10 (possibly later if the network is unlucky).  If you are mining on v1.0.3.4 then you are already prepared for the fork and can expect a smooth transition. You should see "(next fork in 1.5 days)" when typing status when on the correct version.  Thank you for your support!

Edit: We had to hotfix release v1.0.3.5, please download below to continue on the longest chain (v15):

Thanks for the great news update! Most new coins are a pump and dump.. I used to mine Nerva but the community turned horrible on they way they handle things. I respect the fact there was no premine and no funding on this so it assures me that this was personally funded and lost of hard work involved! I think this will make a great project. I am sharing this with all my friends that do mining as well as they have been looking for net to get into.

Thanks Solo dev for the hard work Cheesy When can we expect exchange listing?

Now can we say for sure that the coin is pool resistant and 100% CPU friendly?

Please upgrade to v1.0.3.6 via source or the binaries linked below. On April 22nd (block 277001) we will hardfork to v16. This is a mandatory upgrade to increment the PoW. Difficulty window expanded to address difficulty variance with faster block times. Log levels adjusted to reduce verbosity.

Anyone else receiving an error about incompatible version 1.0.3.4 despite having download and install the latest Windows binaries 1.0.3.6?

It results into an IP ban for more than an hour after 5-10 minutes of usage, while the CPU hashrate keeps mining at full speed as usual.

I have a question ....I entered "start_mining" without address from the daemon CLI wallet and find two blocks..... is the mining rewards go to my address? I have checked no coins received yet

Nope, I am definitely using the latest version, while "bans" command listed my own IP there. Nevertheless, after the latest fork today the problem didn't re-appeared.

Strange....
Anyone else receiving an error about incompatible version 1.0.3.4 despite having download and install the latest Windows binaries 1.0.3.6?

It results into an IP ban for more than an hour after 5-10 minutes of usage, while the CPU hashrate keeps mining at full speed as usual.

I am receiving those message too...some nodes are not yet upgraded...

I have a question ....I entered "start_mining" without address from the daemon and find two blocks..... is the mining rewards go to my address? I have checked no coins received yet

Are you sure you were blocked, or YOU blocked someone else's IP, for him having an old version 1.0.3.4?

Nope, I am definitely using the latest version, while "bans" command listed my own IP there. Nevertheless, after the latest fork today the problem didn't re-appeared.

Strange, now I'm using the "start mining" command from daemon with my wallet address... but the reward is not received

Is there any specific mechanism to receive block rewards?

I had the same problem. I mined for more than 18 hours offchain. In other words, I was mining on my own chain for some reason.
After I downloaded the bootstrap .raw file and extracted it, then restarted the miner and it synced to the correct chain.
However 18 hours of electricity waste was just.. waste.

link: https://minesolo.com/release/blockchain.raw

command to import:
solo-blockchain-import --verify=0 --input-file=blockchain.raw       add this only if you changed the default data directory>  --data-dir

then start miner

Here you can check if your version/ blockheight matches with network: http://explorer.minesolo.com/

I just talked with dev in discord and here is the solution.... from the cli wallet :

Code:
set refresh-from-block-height 0
rescan_bc

My wallet showing balance now... i found their discord from twitter https://t.co/ktwaHyVc81

I had already imported the blockchain.raw from the very start along with my binaries, so the issue was not there after all. The solution proposed by the devs and written above from the member "lucky80" worked just fine for me.

I do confirm that my wallet now successfully displays its balance.

Yes, everything is now smooth.... except for a delay in synchronization today... sometimes some nodes or mine left behind ...

I downloaded the latest version.
Very slow sync, stopping, need restart.
Why such problems with the daemon, will there be corrections?

This is solo mining coin... it takes time to find a block.... what CPU you are using?

Download the snapshot and put in the same binaries folder .... it should speed up a bit....

This new release is cool. I don't see the blocked node and late synch message. I even found a block after two minute run  Grin maybe just luck. Anybody should upgrade and it should block the oldest version node.

Guys in case I want to mine from a different PC do I have to copy paste my current binaries folder along with my local wallet data?

Last, is it possible to mine with many different PCs simultaneously?

Thanks in advance ^^

If you want to receive your mined coin in the same address, use the daemon command with the same address. You can open CLI wallet in one machine and receive the mined coin from your other nodes. Yes, you can use as many as CPU you have to mine simultaneously. Talk to dev how to port forwarding and prioritize your node. Good Luck Miner Boy!

No.

Solo has a goal of eliminating the economic incentives that lead to network centralization. Masternodes and/or staking make sense for some projects, but are not in line with this project's goals.

Optional but highly recommended upgrade today. This upgrade will improve your ability to stay in sync with the network and reduce banning of other nodes.

v1.0.4.1
-Ban logic improved to eliminate unintentional banning of peers
-Sync improvements

Windows ( https://minesolo.com/release/solo-v1.0.4.1-win64.zip )
Windows NO AES ( https://minesolo.com/release/solo-v1.0.4.1-win64-NO_AES.zip )
Linux ( https://minesolo.com/release/solo-v1.0.4.1-linux64.tar.gz )
Source ( https://gitlab.com/solo-project/solo )

Important Note:
the bootstrap method used up to this version is no longer the recommended method to initially sync to the network and the blockchain.raw will no longer be published. In its place is a blockchain database snapshot. We recommend re-syncing your node to achieve maximum results one of the following two ways:

Slow:
Delete the lmdb directory (~/.solo on Linux) (C:\ProgramData\solo\ on Windows) restart solod and let it sync from 0. This was performed on multiple nodes and took several hours, most had to restart the daemon a couple times. Your mileage will vary depending on factors such as connection and hardware. We are still working to improve a full blockchain sync.

Fast:
Delete the existing database and import the snapshot.

Windows importing:
Download https://minesolo.com/release/snapshot.zip
Remove contents of C:\ProgramData\solo\ extract contents of snapshot.zip to the same directory.

Linux import:
cd ~ && rm -Rf ~/.solo && mkdir .solo && cd .solo && wget https://minesolo.com/release/snapshot.tar.gz && tar xfv snapshot.tar.gz

Note that if this is your first time to sync or you use a custom path you will not have these directories. Launching solod will create them or they can be created manually. Also, for Windows users C:\ProgramData\ is a hidden folder by default, it can be accessed by showing hidden folders or by typing C:\ProgramData\solo\ into the address line of file explorer or the run command (windows key + r).

We are pleased to announce our first exchange partner cratex.io has listed Solo (XSL) with three trading pairs.

XSL/BTC - https://cratex.io/index.php?pair=XSL/BTC
XSL/LTC - https://cratex.io/index.php?pair=XSL/LTC
XSL/BTCZ - https://cratex.io/index.php?pair=XSL/BTCZ

0.28 BTC worth of buy order in 1 sats price Cheesy that guy must be dreaming. But its a good start, It dumps from 100 sats to 3 sats in a few hours after listing. Dumpers everywhere.

After Exchange listing what next for XSL?

Let them dump, At least we have price movement now. It was a small market test for XSL.

How can I find out the hashrate of my processor in to calculate the chances of finding a block?

Thank you!
Just started mining at 2 kh/s, immediately found a block.
It was just luck.
With difficulty 22.85 M, should be about 7 blocks per day.

Instead of mining i decided just to buy at 1 sat Cheesy Mining continuously using my CPU will toast and burn it in the long run so not worth the current price now. Let's start some market making and lets bring XSL to 10 sats Cheesy for setting up a support in 1 sat and waiting for dumpers.

We are performing a hard fork at block 440001 (Thursday May 30.2019) to v1.0.4.4. This is a mandatory upgrade that will further reduce difficulty variance and improve network stability. The changes have been simulated and tested for the last two weeks, the benefits warrant a hard fork.

v1.0.4.4
-Update to latest LWMA1 algorithm
-Inclusion of optional optional hashrate adjustment for statistically significant changes in hashrate
-Remove obsolete dependencies
-Re-enable blockchain import for pop blocks functionality
-Remove unnecessary checkpoints

Miners and service providers should upgrade as soon as possible to prevent a break in service.

The most recent binaries are linked below and the main branch in source has been updated.

Windows ( https://www.minesolo.com/release/solo-latest-win64.zip )
Windows NO AES ( https://www.minesolo.com/release/solo-latest-win64-NO_AES.zip )
Linux ( https://www.minesolo.com/release/solo-latest-linux64.tar.gz )
Source ( https://gitlab.com/solo-project/solo )

Changes in the code require a fixed difficulty for the difficulty window. This will be set at 25mm for blocks 440001-440401. Nethash changes by the minute and Solo historically experiences a short drop in hashrate after an upgrade. The fixed difficulty is a conservative estimate based on a historical range, but could result in in block times significantly above or below the 20 second target while working through the window. Following the window, block times will normalize to 20 seconds over the course of several hours.

You were possibly mining on a fork - one thing that you can try is to rescan your wallet from block 0 in solo-wallet-cli:

set refresh-from-block-height 0
rescan_bc

Do you happen to have the block hash of any blocks you mined and aren't seeing in the wallet?  Sounds likely to me that you were on an alt_chain and not the main chain.  Are you currently synced to the same block as on the block explorer?

Drop in the discord some time - usually somebody around to help

I wrote them a ticket.

strange things
why my balance became less after update ?

You were possibly mining on a fork - one thing that you can try is this to rescan your wallet from block 0:

set refresh-from-block-height 0
rescan_bc

the same balance after that - lesser than before update
should we update before 30 may or nevermind ?

smaller balance then before update
no new blocks about 1 day on 5 kH
seems to i don't like your project

I updated, blocks are regularly on 2 kh/s find, the daemon sometimes can not synchronize or goes to another chain.
Check, can you in another chain?
The height of the blocks with the explorer must match.

Yes, even in the morning there were orders for 1 satoshi, and now it has been removed.
But recently there was a pump until 7 Satoshi.
And 2 satoshi instantly bought up.

And the difficulty of the network has decreased.
I continue mining, the developer is still here and continues to develop.

And the difficulty of the network has decreased.
I continue mining, the developer is still here and continues to develop.

I think that now it's worth mining even more, buyers come and go time after time.
I do confirm that network's hash rate is lower since I found more blocks per day too  Grin

the network is very unstable, constantly such messages.
In the network is not one, but several chains?
Why synchronization is often interrupted and does not synchronize further than a certain block?
Bootstrap doesn't help either, I am taking a blockchain from another computer.

We are voting at https://www.southxchange.com/Home/Vote , crex24 has a fee (0.35 BTC which we cannot currently fund), and TradeOgre has not responded to our inquiry.  It seems that we will likely end up on SouthX before any of the others as we are currently #2 there.  We did very well in the qTrade voting round (#5): https://qtrade.io/listings

We may consider translation bounties in the future, but at the moment there is not a lot of content that needs translating.  This will change in the future, and I will be sure to let the community know when we need translations in various areas.

We are excited to announce that Solo (XSL) has been listed at 2 new exchanges:
*  bia.do is an exchange that Monero (XMR) is the primary pair.  One of the potential goals of this exchange is to assist in decoupling BTC as the primary pair for most trading.  Piconero not Satoshi!  Check it out at: https://bia.do/

v1.1.0.4 binaries have been released!  There are some mining related fixes which should help to reduce local forking in the event of intermittent connectivity, so it is recommended for all miners to upgrade!

Changelog:
* Pause mining when disconnected from the network or syncing to a new top block.
* Some trezor fixes, however further trezor bugs persist and will be resolved in a future release.
* Sync status messages every 100 blocks instead of every 1000 blocks.
* Change max outbound connections back to 8.
* RingCT changes from upstream.
* Fix wallet2 height estimate.
* Changes made for Solo-GUI compatibility.
* Fix msys build.
* Change autodetect theshhold from 1% to 0.5% (could help with finding the right # of threads on higher core count CPUs)
* Update submodules.
* Monero -> Solo in solo-blockchain-mark-spent-outputs.

We are excited to announce that Solo-GUI is released! Solo-GUI is based on Monero-GUI (v0.14.1.2) upstream and includes easy to setup, one click mining! Windows and Linux Binaries are available currently, but we cannot yet offer a MacOS binary unfortunately as our team does not currently have access to a Mac OS X machine to build on. Please contact @TyphooN on Discord if you can assist us in building a Mac OS binary!

if it’s no secret you don’t have something like a crane in your project to test the work? want to check everything before begin to direct my mining power.
the project looks interesting to me, but you understand that power and electricity are not worth a little money and you have to think it over several times. good idea but needs to be developed.

exactly! but sometimes you cant tell if its worth mining or not if you havent tried. but that is a risk you need to take here. how much coin you will get from the current difficulty using your equipment?
and you need to be updated also about the current price. and i dont think this coin is profitable at the moment. just my opinion.
no buy order even at 1 sat in soutxchange and theres a bulk of sell orders at 1-10sats. gauge it on your own how you can get profit from this current trading performance.
