Why not tracing back to the first topic of @satoshi, there:

Welcome to the new Bitcoin forum!
At first, the forum created only for bitcoin.

I like your ideas, @suchmoon.
BT will not have risks to be overlapped by any tokens, altcoins, I think.
Two words, "Bitcoin" and "Talk" => BT

Not BitCoin.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

A lot of opinions have been read and shared and it seems to me that it’s hard coming up with a certain one. Just standardization would be easy, that’s just what I think. Like everyone would know what a KG is and what LB would be, just need to have a reference where it would be based upon. There could be a deciding factor on it, theymos then he will give  instructions or something but with the quote from @hacker1001101001 from theymos, you could use anything you want and then there would be inconsistencies throughout the forum. This is just focusing on small details, you know.

Currently the winning option is BCT. Let’s see in a couple of days too for additional input.

It's Bitcoin (BTC) + Talk (T) so BTCT is the only one that makes sense to me.
Keeping it consistent, just like the old thread. Nice.

To be honest I often type btctalk.org when talking about this place but I’m weird  Cheesy
That requires a lot of effort typing btctalk.org. It even has a period on it. Lol

It never made any sense to use this acronym either, it's just not the usual format for acronyms, BCT is the obvious choice since BTF never gets used (BitcoinTalk Forum)
It’s the first time of reading this kind of combination. BTF. Sounds like food but it’s a new entry.

~snip
This could at least put us all on the same page if enough members read this thread, which I hope they do--especially those bounty hunters who frequently refer to bitcointalk as BTT.  That drives me insane.

I'm not a fan of BTCT, though at least that one makes a bit more sense.  The only problem I have with it is that it's not any better than BCT, which has only 3 letters and is therefore more efficient.
Yeah, putting everything the same and having an understood meaning or value equivalent to the name bitcointalk.

I think whether it’s three letter or four letters as long as everyone has understood and acknowledged the meaning, it will be efficient.

Two words, "Bitcoin" and "Talk" => BT
When I read BT, I think of BlueTooth. I don’t know. It just came to me.

Either BT as BitcoinTalk or BTCT - this one is self explanatory. BCT doesn't feel right and BTT makes very little sense although it is used here on the forum.

There are so many acronyms in life, and in the crypto sphere with new altcoins popping up all the time, and all the bitcoin forks and forks of forks...  Things get confusing.  I'm resigned to typing out the whole thing: bitcointalk.org.

Personal I don't use any abbreviation for Bitcointalk. Bitcointalk isn't long or difficult word to type, so I think that abbreviation aren't really needed. And as said by users above, these acronyms can be easily confused with some shitcoins.  BCT sounds like name of coin and BTCT looks something like name of shitfork or something similar. BTT acronym is used most often probably, but it's mostly used by spammers ("my BTT account was banned, pls help" and similar
Two words, "Bitcoin" and "Talk" => BT
When I see BT abbreviation, first thing that comes to my mind is BT Sports TV channel, not Bitcointalk forum Cheesy

I like the btct option. BTC is the natural abbreviation and T from talk. But some people call it bitcoin forum, so, is a hard question, i will keep an eye n this poll to see what does people prefer and what's the right way to call it.

I like it when it called as Bitcoin Forum as what we see above on our dashboard. If there is an option of "Bitcoin" + "Forum" = BTCF I will really prefer that one.

I will halt my vote for now and wait for more options base on members request, count mine too.

Using the whole name is better like Bitcointalk and it gives more respect to he forum than using only acronyms. This forum is very help to us bitcoin lovers but when it comes to acronyms or abbreviation it is better to use BTCT BTCTalk (BitcoinTalk) where in we can easily know when we hear or see BTCT.

That’s why there is need for standardization, knowing that there is an understood value throughout the forum whether it’s the highest voted one or not, using any of the shortcuts wouldn’t damage the respect we have towards the forum, it just makes it easier to type and more efficient.

Note that weird, I've also said a few times btctalk or btalk, but not doing the extra of adding .org, that's a bit too much.
Any 3 letters abbreviation will (if is not already) be taken by some shitcoin sooner or later. Some have even started using 4 letters as probably there is as much competition as in domain names.

It should be the best if we mention the forum as bitcointalk, the original, full name of it.
If someone are lazy to type down its full name, and if I have to make a vote, I will choose:
Bitcointalk forum, abbreviated as BCT forum.
I would prefer to spend a second to add the word 'forum' at the end.
In the future, there will be something, digital assets, or sites, or stocks, etc. that have its abbreviation, ticker as BCT, BCTT, BTT, so adding the word 'forum' at the end, after the abbreviation always make sense.

In short, I voted for:
BitCoinTalk forum ~ BCT forum.

I think it's a great point that you have, but in my opinion, if you are just going to type BCT Forum, it's convenient also to put "this forum" instead of "BCT Forum." That's if you want to use BCT Forum as a word, but using 3 - 4 letters are more comfortable in my opinion and having a standard in the whole forum is just ideal.

I don't think that we have to or should use any of them, BCT, BTT, BTCT, or BCT forum if we have been in the forum, mention about the forum.
The abbreviation, if used, only should be used when we are somewhere outside the forum, but want to mention about the bitcointalk forum.

I see, but people from another forum or just in general won't understand "BCT" or any other abbreviation to specify the forum. They might even think that it's a coin or something. Those shortcuts can be used right after the full meaning. E.g., Bitcointalk.org (BTCT) or something like that then proceeds like any other wordings to be done and mention "BTCT" in every time you would mention it, specifically, articles.

There's no limit to what this "standard" of abbreviation could be used, in this forum or outside as long as there is an agreedvalue on it.

I've been seeing the BTT term for the forum's abbreviation when I started here and I used that too.

But whenever I talk/discuss to someone who is a member here on any messaging platform, I mostly use forum no any abbreviation used. Then use bitcointalk if I write/talk to someone who's not a member here but knows crypto since using BTT, BCT will trigger them to think as its a kind of token or altcoin.

Though I'm much prefer using BCT even though I used BTT before. But much preferably if theymos will give his opinions for this--if and only if this is necessary.
