It is not the first time I hear this words "the next bitcoin". I remember there were some coins claimed that they would be the next bitcoin but most of them were not even getting any success.
I do not think there will be any coins is going to be the next bitcoin ever. Bitcoin is the only one, the next bitcoin wont come in the future.

Definitely Elixxir will not be the next bitcoin. They want a public that prefers anonymous currency something that all governments in the world will be fighting against in the next few years. bitcoin is good because it is pseudo-anonymous. But anonymous altcoins like monero, verge and others will be targets of the governments in the next months. Then we have things like decentralization, something Elixxir do not have.

I agree that a centralized institutional cryptocurrency does not have many chances to become anything, even though there are anonymous transactions there, so perhaps we should not worry about the authorities accessing our personal data with this coin. This coin does not have many chances of competing with widely accepted by the banks Ripple, and I don't think Bitcoin users will be interested in it as well. Exactly, whenever I come across that phrase, I see it as the project looking to get more popularity by affiliating itself with bitcoin, and that attempt is enough to make me lose real interest. We are not looking for the next Bitcoin, but rather the next innovative technology which would improve transactions while retaining anonymity and keeping control in the hands of the holders.

I mean, this is so truth. All or almost all new coins say that and ends up being just a lie. It's a funny coincidence because i was with other people this morning and we got lied to a lot, pretty interesting coincidence.

Now failed or not we don't really know yet. It might take some place in the top 10 and maybe, just maybe it will stay there for a while, who knows?. The future will really tell, but i believe they do that only/mostly to profit, not really to do their part in changing the world.

Well it's a good promise but I doubt about it, usually when people said want to overcome or replace bitcoin will end up with another coin that got no purpose, for me it's just another coin that want to take people's attention by mention the coin ia better than than bitcoin and in the end the coin will be used for making the developers become rich

I really doubt the future of Ethereum. With the marketing power from EOS or TRX, or maybe even Binance Chain, they can lose easily if they don't do anything. I doubt decentralisation narrative is that much important for developers who only look for profits. Die hard decentralisation is probably a minority in dapps business.

Bitcoin is a proof-of-work, competition-based system, to make the network super secure.

Yes they are saying exactly that but you shall not be scared because quantum computers are a bit different from what we are used to.
It is no like you can run any program on any given architecture right? The program needs to be pre-designed to utilize x84, 64bit, ARM etc. to be fully operational. In quantum computing it the computer that has to be designed with a specific task in mind. It can usually run only one type of equations, one set of programs or instructions.
In other words, IBM or D-wawe would have to build a computer specially designed to crack bitcoin, to crack it and "we" can always add "another zero" so in fact, it's all just a fear mongering. Blockchain is safe.

From the looks of it there seems to be two big things that this project offers. One is decentralized messaging which we clearly need in this day and age of data protection and privacy. The second part to Elixxir looks to be their payments system which I think would work well with a messaging app. We definitely need something that is mobile forward for mass adoption. Right now there's too much of a learning curve for Bitcoin users- waiting for somethign to get more people on board quicker
