Difference between PoW and PoS

The major difference between Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake is that instead of allocating weight based on computing resource consumption as in the case of Proof-of-Work, Proof-of-Stake consensus systems allocate weight relative to the amount of coin holdings participating in the consensus activity, also known as block minting. This algorithm decouples the consensus security level from system energy consumption level and eliminates the requirement of energy consumption in order to reach consensus.

Stake liquidity

With a high level of stake liquidity, minters can spend or transfer their stake at any time. Coin leasers can also withdraw their lease, spend, or transfer their stake at any moment. This freedom of movement helps safeguard the blockchain. Take an extreme example of when supernodes are under attack  under SPoS mechanism, a coin holder can immediately withdraw the lease and switch to a secure backup supernode.

Soon all big and small cryptocurrency exchanges will have their own similar launch pad platform as IEO seems to be gaining traction in the market after STO failed to get the interest of most influential figures. Now, am just hoping that this will not be abused leaving many token buyers again holding empty bags. IEO is now tied to the integrity and reputation of an exchange so I am assuming that there is a thorough vetting before a project is welcome onboard otherwise this can just be another version of the despised ICOs of 2018 and 2018. Let's always evaluate well any project that we want to support with our pockets.

What is SPoS?

Sunny King creates a new way of measuring coin stake  called Minting Average Balance (MAB). It merges the concepts of Weighted Average Balance (WAB) and the current coin balance, and takes the minimum of the two. Not only does it ensure the fairness of calculation, it also reduces the complexity and disadvantages associated with “confirmed balance”, a hugely ineffective algorithm especially in a high block height environment.

Coin leasing Rewards

The reward for coin leasing is calculated via a simple formula. Determining the average return on coin leasing is performed relatively easily but depends on various factors that include the number of VSYS coins leased to a supernode, the minting average balance of the node, the total minting reward gained by the supernode during minting, and the supernode interest rate.
